Hi and thanks, Dawn! And, believe me, we don't get bored. Love that you added a pic - it's so nice to see who we're talking to. Some never figure out how to do that, so you're way ahead of many LOL

Find your way around and jump in where ever you'd like.

Hi Dawn, BORING??? don't think that's a word we know. Hope to hear about you. Where is Grand Isle? I'm from FL and am in Sarasota until the end of March. Ya know, you can't just jump in, say hello and then not satisfy this group with pics and info, info, info. But Beth is correct, you have posted your pic, so you can't be considered a newbie. Welcome. carold

Welcome to our group, Dawn. We're glad to have you and hope you'll jump right in and join the conversation in whichever threads you'd like. Check out Barbzeee's morning coffee to catch a glimpse of what's happening, if you don't have time to read everything every day. The general forum and the campfire is always active too. Watch for a FL get-together planned for March or early April. I'm from Florida too...Ocala.

Welcome Bumpjumper !!! What an unusual name, is there a story behind it? So glad you have joined us. Hope you will post often enough for us to really get to know you. Also if you could go to one of the GTG's, think you'd really enjoy it and find out in person, how nice all of these ladies are.

Glad you're here !!!

Carol

Thanks for asking those questions. I'm wondering the same thing. Even tho I've had my RV for almost a year, the only place I really go is the beach in my state. I want to go down to the gulf coast of Fl, the panhandle area. I lived in Ft Walton Bch for a while & I love that area. Hopefully I can make a trip in the next couple months. I'd like to know about clubs & how to find out about campgrounds I'd feel okay staying alone.

All the FL state parks I've been to are nice. I also camp in National Forest cgs a lot. Never had a problem.

Do you want to boondock, stay in rv parks, state parks? Where you camp depends partially on what amenities you want and how much money you want to spend. I'm not a member of any camp groups except sam's club and passport america for discounts on places to stay. There are a lot of camping books you can buy like Woodalls, Trailer Life, etc. that give you info as well as online park reviews and this forums reviews. We've stayed in many FL state parks and have enjoyed them all. I'm sure other's will chip in and have more info. In fact, I'm sure they will. carold

Welcome. A lot of us use the Trailer Life Directory to find campgrounds. I go online and do a search for the town I'm looking at - look for the Chamber of Commerce site and then check out the businesses to find RV parks. I have a Good Sam membership cause it gets you 10% off at a lot of RV parks. I also have a KOA card - mostly because I look for workamping jobs on the KOA website and you have to have a membership to get on their site. I also ask the forum ladies what their recommendations are for an area.

Okay, now, explain your name - we're all curious.

I've only stayed at a few Florida State Parks- the ones I stayed at were wonderful - and all had hookups. Well, the ones I stayed at did. Can't vouch for the others.
