Greetings. My name is Paulette and I live in beautiful Huntsville AL. I have a 37' 2005 Newmar Mountain Air. I am a widow of three years. While twice retired, I am working full time. Our, now my, motorhome is the one thing that I have had a hard time getting my arms around. It is a huge financial drain (thus why I am still working) and a mechanical nightmare. However, I have a favorite expression that says "shut-up and color" and that is what I am doing. I have taken the RV out of storage, taken driving lessons, bought a great series of educational CDs and have invested in the critical (and never ending) repairs. I also bought a tow-vehicle and am getting ready to travel. My challenge now is getting my two dogs, Moose and Lucy, accustomed to the idea. That is my current project since I don't like boarding them any more then necessary.

I believe that God puts people in our paths for a reason, and I met this very inspiring women at Ditto Landing camp ground where my RV is parked at the moment. She strongly recommended I join Women RV and I am excited to do so.

Hopefully as you get going down the road more of us will get a chance to meet you. Read through some of the threads and you can get a bit of our stories. We come driving all sorts of and sizes of rigs. Some of us are still dreamers and researchers for the future. You are jump ahead of many. It does take courage to explore new roads and possibilities when life changes maps and expectations. I think you will find several women here that have experience losing their husbands and then having to decide what the rest of their life might look like. It isn't easy but you will might find some kindred spirits around here.

A big Texas welcome to you. Your dogs will, I'm sure, get used to traveling. I traveled for years with two Labs who took up most of the bed. Most dogs love RVing - new sights and lots of new smells and new friends to meet. Take a few small trips and see how things go. You may decide you love traveling in your big RV or you may decide to downsize. I downsized from a 30' to a 19' but many have upsized.

Financially RV's really don't make sense but where else can you meet so many great people and have this much fun. Times 2 on it's cheaper than therapy

Paulette - welcome to the forum from the central coast of CA. Sounds like you've taken the right steps to get in your RV and head out. Have a wonderful time. I have a 35'6" Class A diesel and now only have one dog and he loves to get in the RV and go. He would much rather do that then be left behind or go to the kennel. LOL

hmm - maybe when I buy, I should get twin beds, one for me & one for the 4-leggers.

Cheryl, I am thinking that even with two twin beds you would probably still have a dog that thought is was his/her job to snuggle with you on your bed. As several ladies will admit that having a large Queen size bed in the RV means nothing with the dogs still only leave you ten inches on the side....
