Welcome Edith! Most people use things like air cards or their own wifi hot spots if they need to be on a lot. Others just find locations that offer free wifi at their businesses.

Welcome, Edith.

Your intro post was moved to it's own thread - so you wouldn't get lost in the middle of someone else's intro.

Glad to have you with us. There are lots of threads about how we all get online - especially in the tech room. I ran a business using wifi my first year out - and have gone through just about everything except satellite. It's amazing how much better service is, almost everywhere. I use my phone (currently with AT&T) to tether. When I'm somewhere with wifi, I use it for anything that takes larger loads.

welcome from Kerrville, Texas. Where in Texas are you heading?

I have a Sprint Android phone and have a "hotspot" which costs $20 to $50 a month depending on how much you use. If I have a at least two bars, I have internet access. Don't even have to plug the computer into the phone; just have the phone nearby. If you have a good signal more than one person can use the internet at the same time. AT&T also has hotspots. Don't know about Verizon.

Welcome Edith :D Yep, like Karen, I have a hot spot on my Verizon. Got excellent service across country this past winter. There are a lot of different plans out there, so just shop around...& happy travels! 8-)

Welcome Edith from SoCal. I just use the park wifi or tether with my phone if there isn't any wifi.

Hoosier welcome :D

We have the Verizon share plan so we use the hotspots on our droids when we can't find a free wifi connection. Verizon is often faster that the free wifi connection but if I don't have to use my bandwidth to check email or check the boards I'll save my bandwidth for a movie on Netflix or something.

Hi Edith,

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have you ducks all in a row, selling your house, getting a new TT and traveling. Can't comment on the WiFi as I don't travel with my computer enough to do anything like that. If I do, I just use the local WiFi if there is any or find a local free WiFi.

Have a great time in TX.

Hi, Edith from IA, from a fellow Iowan! I'm originally from Des Moines. Most of the time, I use a tether on my Android phone.
