My name is Claudia and I just bought a 25ft class c diesel on a sprinter chassis. I used to have a motorhome in the 80's and it has taken me this long to get another one. I really missed it and can't wait to get on the road. I will mostly be traveling solo and my sister will come along from time to time because my husband does not like the idea of rving but is fully supportive of me wanting to get on the road. I am taking a few short trips just to get aquainted with my rig and RVing again, then I plan on taking longer trips throughout the states. I live in Missouri City, TX which is SW of Houston. I have a Papillon puppy, who is my camp dog in training, to travel with me. I am happy to have found this forum because it has been so long since I have had a motorhome and have never gone solo before. I will need your expertise and knowledge from time to time. My children named my rig Wings of Apollo, nicknamed Wings, in rememberance of something I had years ago. I am 60 and the last of my children graduated from high school last year. That makes me foot loose, fancy free and ready for adventure! I tend to like state campgrounds. Last week my daughter and I went to Lake Livingston state park for the maiden voyage and this week I am going on a 3 night trip to Goose Island state park. My son plans on meeting up with me in his rig for a night. A mother's day camp.

Welcome from another Texan. I'm new to RVing and can say this forum is the very best place for questions and just plain goofiness. I was thinking about Goose Island in a week or two. Let us know what you think about it. Oh, and pictures, too. Everybody here is just nuts about pictures.

Welcome. I wonder if your rig is similar to mine. I've had mine for 1 year now and am feeling able to handle what comes with this lifestyle. I have 2 dogs that travel with me. You can ask any question here and you'll get lots of response. Glad you've joined us. Hope you can post some pics of Wings.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am back from goose island state park in rockport tx. We camped on the beach front which had a bulk head instead of a sandy beach. The breese kept the bugs away and the beach was crushed shells so the sand was easier to sweep out of Wings. I had fun exploring on my bike. Lots of deer, a 1,000 year old tree (second oldest in tx), hikeing trails that were not difficult. All in all it was a nice campground.
Sandi, my wings is almost like yours. I have a 2013 Fleetwood Tioga DSl 24D. Has one slide out, bed in back and in the cab over. Your picture looks almost just like mine except for the make and model. So far I like it and it does not scare me to handle it alone. I do get nervous about that auto step but I am gaining faith that it will retract when I need to drive away.
I have lots of questions about rigs, places and trips to take. Where is the best place for me to post questions about my up coming trip to Yellowstone and campgrounds there? As soon as I figure out how to post my pictures here from my dropbox I will add them. When I do where is the best place to put them.
Thank you all again. I'm glad to have such a wonderful group of ladies with the skills that I need to learn.
Claudia

Welcome to the forum. Your circumstances sound a lot like mine. My husband doesn't want to travel or camp. I have had 4 motorhomes and he has never been very far in any of them. I let him drive one to the shop for me one time and it came back with a boo boo. Someone had scraped the end of the bumper on something and he swears it wasn't him. ;)

I live in South Louisiana but most of my camping is in Texas with my sister. We were down by Mc Allen for a week last month.

If you want to post pictures of your motorhome the best place is in "Show Off Your Rig". If you have a question about how something works or if you have a problem post it in "Maintenance/Tech Issues". You can ask questions or tell about a trip in the General Talk.

Check the Get Together section to see the upcoming trips that are planned. There are members all over the country so if you say where you are going you might be able to meet some of us.

Welcome to the group, I'm a newbie too but you've gotten farther than me I can't get a RV. I always a day late and a dollar short, I get there and they said 'Sorry it's gone' so I'm still looking. Headed to Phoenix for 10 days, I'll look then and if I have to drive it home to TN. The group is great!!! Jeanine

Late to the party - but welcome to the forum! I'm not too far from you. Brazos Bend is another good state park but if you can go during the week, so much the better. It's packed on the weekends. Even at that, the sites are pretty large and I've enjoyed every time I've stayed there.
