Hi Susan,

Welcome! Glad to learn someone else has joined who lives in Central Florida. I am also 60 and live in Saint Cloud. Hope to meet you in the near future since we are so close. Please keep posting as you continue to decide your future and begin searching for a motorhome.

Welcome to the forum, Susan, and my condolences on the loss of your husband. I know from experience that this can be a tough transition. But when my husband died I turned to the same dream -- to travel the country in a motor home. DH never wanted one, so this was a means of striking out on my own.

You sound independent, smart and resourceful. I'm glad you have joined us and I look forward to vicariously sharing your search for the perfect motor home and your subsequent travels.

Hi Susan. I just started full timing about 7 weeks ago. Still trying to sell my house in Sarasota FL. My cousins will be workamping at Sebastian Beach Inlet from Jan to April. I plan on a visit over there sometime in Jan or Feb while I am back in FL. Maybe you could meet us at SBI?

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go to an RV "bootcamp" in AZ in Feb.... I love SBI & will go down there anytime. What kinds of rigs do you have?

I have a 26' Class C Itasca Cambria motorhome and I don't currently tow anything. My cousins have a 5er and a truck.

Keep us posted on the rv bootcamp in Az, a few of us in SoCal are always looking for an excuse to do a road trip there! Where at in AZ?

It's in Quartzsite where that big rally/flea market is every year. I only know about it from the internet... you probably know more than i, or the site I got the info from was B.S.

Cool beans! Evie (Pooker) is usually there with her Good Sam group and I try to get out to spend a few days with Sheila. There's a big group there that has a rally and I do believe they have something like that, so doubt if it's BS. I've heard some really good things about it and how much fun it is. Can't remember the name of the organization, but they're well known and highly respected. When it gets close we'll exchange phone numbers so we can get in touch and meet up. Q is fun, especially for first timers. I pretty much go just 'cause I love camping in the desert and get to see Sheila and her Larry. We dry camp right out of town on the SW side of Q. Jenny and her hubby will be there, too, she camps out on the other side of town with her Boomer group. Anita (Chalet) winters about 30 miles from there.

While I love AZ and will find any excuse to go there - you could go to a bootcamp in FL much easier :) And there are some. There will also be a big Rally through Good Sam's Club in FL this year (as well as in AZ and I forget the 3rd place). That said, many of our group will be in or around Q this winter. It's a big boondocking wintering area.

But if you're going to be heading all the way to AZ, you should look at the FL gtg's and the TX gtg already planned and see if you can fit either into your travels - one direction or the other :)

Coming in late here but welcome. I am excited that you have a plan and a dream..... Please share along the way. I know that the more road maps of "how we get to where we get to" make us realize that there is no one way and it is part of the adventure to blaze unique trails that work for you. While picking through the ideas and experiences of others that can help light the way!

Hope you make the FL dates. I think you will enjoy it.
