Hi, Everyone...new to forum

I heard about you on another forum and thought it'd be great to chat with other ladies about the rv lifestyle.

I'm currently at Island Park, ID, 14 miles from the gates of Yellowstone National Park. I had tried to respond (2Xs) to the thread about cgs close to YNP but apparently I'm doing something wrong because it never showed up. I thought maybe this park would be a good alternative to the pricey parks in W. Yellowstone.

I'm especially interested in the thread about upgrading your unit. I love Sharon's floor. With 2 deaf white cats and one orangey cat, I can never get the carpet really clean of cat hair. I'd like to get flooring like hers. Sharon, if you don't mind my asking, who's the manufacturer of your floors? Did you remove the carpeting yourself or just have it done? I have a 2000 Winnebago Brave with a superslide. It's just old enough that if I do something to it myself it won't matter, lol. I'd also like to paint over that horrible wallpaper. If you know of any books on how to make changes to your unit, please give me the names.

I enjoy reading the different posts. Maybe one day I'll get to meet up with you ladies at the different get togethers.

Welcome, Judy....We have many talented gals (and a spouses, here and there) who have painted, tore up carpet, then replaced it, etc. so we're a wealth of info...so ask away....we also love to talk, eat, and are nosy so you'll get requests for photos. Now it your first "helpful hint"...on the issue of pet hair, I have found that if you use a dog brush (you know the ones with the wire bristles) to "rake" the carpet before vacuuming, it not only removes the majority of the pet hairs, but also "lifts" the carpet pile.....our Spinner sheds lovely white hairs and this works great give it a try....

Welcome Judy! Geez, no I can't remember the brand name of the flooring and I'm in Tn and the box is in SoCal...mix that in with a healthy dose of CRS and you see where we are at this point! I know someone else asked and I either posted it or sent a pm, can't remember which or who either. All I can tell you is it's vinyl and goes down in strips like wood maybe 2 planks wide and 4 or 5 feet long. Oh heck no, I didn't do it myself, all of the furniture had to come out including the captains chairs and this is a pretty good size coach, plus they had to make sure the slides would come up over it w/o pulling the flooring up. More of a job than I wanted to tackle.

As far as the walls, a couple of gals have painted over wallpaper. That paper can't be stripped, but if you use a good base before you put the color, you shouldn't have any problem. What's the name of that base that covers up stains? It works great, I used it in my bathrooms at home where the paper couldn't be stripped off, and that was years ago, still looks good.

Bought my vinyl flooring at Lowes. It is a 6" wide, 4' long strips that look like wood but flexes more and is a peel n stick. You can cut it with scissors. In my first rig I paid someone to cut the carpet out with a carpet knife and didn't remove the sofa, etc.

Use Kilz on the walls first then paint. I repainted all the cupboards in my Class C cause I hated the orangey stain color. Even painted over the glass and gold inserts.

Welcome Judy, I can't help you with upgrading but I knew you would hear from forum sistahs on this. I am a believer in Kilz. I just had my house repainted inside and my painter used Kilz in many areas..it's a miracle paint if you ask me. Keep us posted on all your travel and adventure as well as your upgrading...we love to see pictures of anything and everything, just adds spice if you know what I mean....

Judy, welcome! We painted the walls in our previous RV and we did strip all the wallpaper off because it had buckled in many places due to the heat of 1 1/2 summers in the desert. No matter what we did for air circulation we could not keep it cool enough. In any case, yes, you could paint over the wallpaper but if it's that plastic coated stuff just be aware that if it comes detached from the wall it does buckle, bubble, sag, etc and I don't think paint would prevent that from happening.

Thanks for the warm welcome and great ideas for updating my moho.

I'd love to meet y'all in Louisiana but it's just not possible. I'm sure you'll have other gtgs and I'll definitely make plans to attend. Hubby doesn't like to leave home for too long so I usually leave the first part of January and return to Baton Rouge for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Nearly kills me to stay that long...get itchy feet, lol.
