Hello

Come on in and say hello.

Hello

Hello

I am new here. A little about myself - in my mid forties and have always had the travel bug. A single mom with two children. My son, the oldest finished college and joined the army. The younger one is in high school.
Would live to go full time once she goes away to college. The idea is that she would join me at breaks. This would be in 2 years. When the children when much younger and (they had little say in the matter) I have done really long trips in my suv, from north to south on 95 and 1 and then again east to west from the DC metro area and back. Would fold down the seats at the back and put down a quilt for them to sleep, tent or sleep in motels at night and I would catch up on work at night, Best trips ever.

Started doing the research, reading through forums etc. I had my heart set on a Roadtrek. I know some of you ladies out there drive much larger rigs but I think the RT would suit me just fine. I work 100% virtually for a company and I plan to continue while RVing. Hopefully I continue to work for them.

Now the nice part -- I had rented a RT a little while ago and loved it. Thought I would save up and buy an RT that was 4 - 5 years old some time next year for trips long and short until I could go full time.
While checking out RTs across the area, came across one that a retired couple own in the area .. well taken care of .. some 30K plus miles .. all receipts for maintenance..and long story short, I bought one now. :D

OO hoo .. she is mine and just got her home.

Welcome, Ann - and how exciting. When you found the right RT - I agree, you needed to act. Now you'll simply have to take some short trips until the time to go full-time.

Glad to have you with us.

Thank you ladies .. I have spent the entire day looking at all the RT modification links I found via Google. I was supposed to catch up on my chores, weekend cleaning and some work.
Well this was more interesting than dusting :)

We love new members. How neat that you have found your RT..I have heard stories of many looking and waiting a long time for just the right RT. Until you become a full fledged traveler I have a little suggestion. I too have a small enough mh to hop in and run errands if I so desire. Many times while I am out I need to grocery shop. If I have other plans like going to my nephews or grandson's ballgame I can get my groceries, put frozen and cold items in the freezer.
Good luck with your plans. The time will pass quicker than you think... Nancy

Welcome and congratulations on your new-to-you Roadtrek! As a fellow RT owner (I live in mine full time) I know you will love it. I have done very few modifications on mine, as I find it meets my needs just the way it is....a very well-designed little unit.

I look forward to hearing about your rving adventures as you await the time you can go full-time too.

Of course I have a fur baby .,. her name is Madison and she will be going where I go.

Liz . Yes, I believe the RT is very well designed. However I am planning a few mods more from a useability stand point for me. I am still working and I think will be when I go full time. It's my job that let's me travel while working. So will really have to get a good internet service with high speeds .. which may mean a booster or satellite .. whatever works best technology wise in 2 - 3 years time.

Additionally, plan to replace the carpet with vinyl .. pet hair and cleaning. And maybe solar panels. The first order of business however is a security system .. someone mentioned screeching alarms and motion lights outside on a diff forum ..

And I tease a lot .. you just might run me out of the forum ..
