New here

Come on in and say hello.

New here

Postby cindermj » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:54 pm

Hi, new here and just want to say hello. I have 2 kids and it's pretty much me and the kids going camping--husband never wants to go and do anything. Recently came to realize that I'm not getting any younger and my kids will only be young once so I'm taking them and we are going to go and have fun! Sometimes I'm still a little nervous about towing the camper and going off with the kids alone but I hear alot of other women are doing it. I'm just another independant woman and I want to make great memories with my kids. Glad to meet you all here!

Oh my gosh, you are so right about the not getting younger and making great memories. As to doing it on your own - you'll take them to museums, etc alone, right? Where ever you go, just be vigilant - and there's so much to see and do. Good for you! Glad to have you with us and hope you come on often and become a regular member of the family.

Glad to have you here! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the number of women who are in the same situation you find yourself. Look around for groups that camp in your area (where are you, by the way?) and don't hesitate to join them. I did that when I got my pop up many years ago -- camping with total strangers -- and haven't regretted a minute of it. They've become like family -- just like this group will be, too. :)

Welcome to the group. They are only young once and you are right to give them some alternative memories than sitting at home and watching TV. :) Have fun and check back in with questions, pictures, stories, and comments.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of camped with our kids and still take our grandkids. Lots of women on the forum travel alone and some of us are married and do most of our traveling alone. Believe me, you will not be alone out there and people will help if you really need it. Give us a little more info so we can relate and help you out.

Adding my welcome! I am camping right now, with my GD (grand daughter). I started with 2 but the older one decided she'd rather stay home. Going to bed with a tummy full of s'mores!

Welcome and Good for you! You are making memories for both you and the kids and very precious ones. The kids will start telling camping stories in front of family and friends and your hubby might even decide he would like to make a few memories too! Keep us posted and send pics :D

Welcome and congrats on taking the bull by the horns and just doing it. You'll be a pro in no time and wonder what all the nerveous jitters were about.
Post often, we love pictures too. What kind of trailer do you have?

Welcome to our forum. I'm so glad you are independent-minded and out there making those memories for you and the kids. You won't regret it. Maybe when hubby sees what fun you are having, he'll want to join you.

I live in Massachusetts, I'm a full time working mom and I have an 11 yr old daughter and my son is almost 4 yrs old. We have a 19' hybrid which I love! I'm so glad I found this site-this was what I was looking for--support and encouragement. You're all awesome! I'll post pictures sometime soon! Thanks for wonderful welcome!

Welcome full-time working mom, looking to make memories and have fun! Certainly have heard that before. You will be greatly blessed for all the things that you will be able to introduce to your children. What a lovely area of the country to be located. I visited that part of the world last year. Just was beautiful. My favorite I think was Plum Island...just beautiful area with so much to see. That size rig is just right for some of those small (to us with 30' rigs) campgrounds. What fun you will have de-stressing. Lots of Forum Sistahs up that way too!

Looking forward to seeing pics and hearing about your adventures with your children.

It's wonderful that you're making great memories with your kids. And those of us who set out alone in our RV's probably all had nerves at the start. Comfort comes with doing. Welcome to the forum!
