Hi Leanne,

Greetings from the frozen north. I'm way up here in northern Michigan. Like you, my camping is hobby right now as I work for the State park system in summers, so can only go on my days off. I too bought a small travel trailer, a Rockwood Mini Lite. Have had it for over two years now. It's a great trailer for hauling around. Right now it's all covered up and in it's winter bed. Might head south later this winter though, depending on finannces and weather. Hopefully going to retire in two years and then get serious about traveling more.

Looking forward to pictures from you too, once you figure out how to work Photobucket.

Enjoy your travels. If I get down that way, I will give you a holler. I love horses and spent many a day when I was younger, riding at a local riding stable up here.

Welcome Leanne,

Congratulations on your R-Pod. Sounds as if you will be having lots of fun with your daughter and mother. Georgia has wonderful state parks. I really enjoy Red Top Mountain, north of Atlanta. I found a local Good Sam chapter that camps locally one weekend each month. Good Sam is also hosting a Samboree up near you, in Perry 3/22-3/25.

Welcome Leanne, I'm from TN but son lives in SE GA mm3 on I95 so am there as often as I can be. Crooked River SP is a good park in the GA area. Sure hope you can make it to the GTG in FL but if not maybe Lorie and I can get something together in April for GA area. Enjoy the forum and let's see your r-pod. They are so cute.

A GA GTG sounds fun! I'm not familiar with Good Sam but will check it out. I've been to Crooked River SP - stayed there in a cabin when we kayaked the Paddlers Club challenge there. Great park - we also enjoyed geocaching there. Not to mention great seafood!

We're getting through the last few days before school Christmas break - it's amazing how busy a 7-year-old's schedule can be, not to mention all the end of semester stuff I'm committed to. Anyhow, soon as we're out, we're headed to FDR SP to camp and see the Christmas lofts at Calloway Gardens. I haven't been in years! I hope it warms up a little - down here in town we're experiencing a serious cold front - it got all the way down to 34 degrees last night. I had to wear a jacket to work!

Stay warm, ladies. Happy camping!

We spent a week in a cabin at FDR State Park a couple of years ago during Spring Break. It was so beautiful we've been talking about going back with the travel trailer. Never heard of the lofts, but sounds fun.

Darn autocorrect on my iPad! I've got to learn to check before I post! We are going to see Christmas LIGHTS at Callaway Gardens. Christmas lofts...I'm trying to picture that. :o

Howdy, Leanne, and welcome to our wonderful camping family of zany women and their roadies!

It would be fun to meet you down here in January at our GTG, but if you can't make it, I am sure there will be other times and other places. I am a retired teacher and I have to say that not once have I missed that danged alarm-clock forcing me out of bed at 4:30 am each work day to give me time to stoke my wood fire, take a bath, feed my animals, and get in a walk with Molly, my dog, before having to leave the house for about 9 hours each day. This waking up when my body says it's time, and my schedule-making which is now personal, not institution-dictated, is the best part of retirement for me----other than the freedom to camp, of course, and follow the sunshine and warmth. I winter here in Central FL, and summer back in the Adirondacks----tough life!

And your pictures are...?????? :)

Happy travels!

Lights make a lot more sense than lofts. Would love to see those pictures, or at least descriptions. Have fun!
