Hi Laura,

I've been a member of RVW since 2005. I was at the national convention last October. Actually, Lyn Rogers, past president of the Solos chapter and I are organizing an informal rally at the end of the month.
It will be in the Anza Borrego State Park. We'll be looking at the Spring flowers and going on "safari" to hunt down the giant metal sculptures surrounding Borrego Springs.

I did this last year. You can download a map that gives you a general idea of where the sculptures are, but you really have to look for them to find them, and figure out how to get to some of them. You can drive right up to the base of all of them.
This isn't an RVW event, and if anyone else is interested, let me know. We are meeting at Ocotillo, just off the I-8 and S-2. The dates are Feb.27-March 3, a total of 5 days. We have 7 women planning to attend so far.

The above invitation was for anyone interested, not just Laura.
It will probably be boondocking the whole time, but a night or two in a campground isn't out of the question.

You might want to mention this in it's own thread in the get together room - it'll get more eyes there and not be lost in the middle of this thread. (I'm sure some people are coming on and welcoming you without reading all the posts - um, yes, I've been guilty of that when in a hurry :) )

Hi Diane, I just recently moved out to Southern California from Minnesota. I live in Lake Elsinore. There are several women on here that live in southern California. I don't have an RV yet but do have a tent. I just saw a show about Anza Borrego and those sculptures. I would love to see that area. I would be interested in going maybe for a day or two if that would be possible.
Welcome!

Constructive feedback: Hate is a strong word, so let's say I am not a fan with having leave this website to enjoy what others are seeing in their travels as I thought that was one of the main purposes of this forum. I find I have an entire file with a list of blog sites, but I rarely go visit them. I have also noticed less and less comments to posts where only a blog address is left. I wonder how frustrating it is for people with slow internet to have to do that? JMHO  :)

Wow! Such a great welcome! Thanks everyone for posting.
I'm still feeling my way around the settings. I did make a map, and will figure out how to post it to my signature. I'm assuming PhotoBucket is where I can link to. I was trying last night but couldn't get it to cooperate.
I guess ya'll will know when I get it done.

Welcome Diane and Jack...You are from a part of the country I have never visited. I enjoy the pictures and posts from the girls in your region. We love pictures.. I am hoping to get my ducks in line for a 2 month trip (July and Aug) to the Seattle area (daughter in Seattle) northern route going up, southern coming back. I don't mind traveling alone but a friend might drive along with me if all works out for her. It will make it more fun, but I hope to meet some of my forum friends on this trip too. Watch the GTG's and maybe we'll meet up at one. Nancy (AR Hillbilly, you know 'one leg shorter')

I love the Southwest desert region. I still want to see more of Utah and Northern New Mexico, and at least one trip to Alaska.
I have a 7 day a week business and it's not easy for me to take time off, but I'm working towards fulltiming or extended trips around the country.
I usually only take time off in October and the first three months of the year.
I have a trip planned at the end of this month, and another one mid-March, then it's nose to the grindstone until October.
