Hi, Rosemary! I bought a used 20' class C a year and a half ago. I really wanted a short one because I didn't want to tow a car, either. The short ones are hard to find, and one night I got crazy and bid on one on ebay that was at least in my same state (Florida), and although I had to spend some money on repairs to the cabover (used class C's that have the window in the front pretty much all will have some rot), I found a local mobile repair guy who did all that repair and lots of little updates I wanted, and I still don't have $15,000 in it, and I love it so much I could kiss it! ;) I'm about ready to take my 2nd trip in it, this time heading west.
Good luck in your search, and since you're looking for something I've got some experience with, feel free to ask me anything I might be able to help with!

Beth thanks for the note, I checked out your blog and it looks like you have a class C - let me know how you like it, what are the pros & cons. I will be traveling by myself most of the time and I am not planning on towing a car. I enjoy all the photos and trip information from everyone in the various posts.

I love my little class c. It's getting old and I knew so little when I started out that it has been abused, but it's been simply perfect for me. I do have a toad now, but still prefer traveling without one, like right now. But when I'm workamping I pretty much need the car. Although I did that a few years without just fine, too. But it gives me more options of jobs. otherwise I'd probably still be without a car. So it's very doable. I will stay as small as I can with my next rig also... when that happens. I have no problem finding them, but I figure I have mine how I want it. Just don't intend to put much into it anymore, so maybe a year or two and I'll treat the next better lol. I know so much more.

Hello Rose, A hearty welcome from your "cold" neighbor over here in Northern Michigan. Hope you enjoy your trip south and I know you will love the trace. I haven't had an urge to go where it's warm. I actually prefer to head into Michigan's Upper Peninsuala. I know I'm crazy, but we all have a our crazy ideas I think. Maybe will meet up with you eventually when you get your rig. MI is not that far.

Welcome, Rose.
One thing about this group is once you join, you somehow finally find the exact rig you've been looking for. :D
At least that's what happened with me. ;)
I wanted something that could be incognito on city streets etc as I travel. I hate booking a hotel or committing to a timeframe so my van suites me just fine - plus it gets great mpg. :D
Keep us informed on your search - can't see what you get!

Welcome to the forum. As to looking at new rigs and wanting to buy used.....The more rigs you get to walk through, sit in and check out, the more idea/s you get of what you want and don't need. Part of the journey adventure is the hunt for the rig. :)

Hi Rose,
Been following this and wondered if you have thought of a class B? i love mine. I can pretty much take it anywhere and park it anywhere. Like Lopo , I found mine on EBay. I had watched the bidding and it sold so figured oh well, wasn't meant to be. A few days later it was there again (with an unhappy note from the seller). I called him to ask questions but wasn't comfortable with bidding so just gave him my phone number, just in case...it sold again and lo and behold the guy called me to say the buyer backed out and it was mine if i still wanted it! So even tho I was on a trip to MA I looked at my sister in law who was shaking her head yes, yes I made a very quick decision to do it! I usually like to think things out better but since he was willing to hold it until we got home and it was only 3 hours drive from home it seemed like the thing to do!! I couldn't be happier. I've had to put some money into it but it was still a good deal. It has everything I need just more compact and easy to drive. Great for me and the fur boys! When you see something, you'll know when its right for you! It's out there. Have fun with the hunt!
