Hello from Illinois

Come on in and say hello.

Hello from Illinois

Postby CarolRb » Sat Oct 12, 2013 10:21 am

I just found an e-mail that I had joined in July, so decided to check this out! All the information I have read is really great!
Last Spring I decided to plunge in and get a camper after joining RVing Women in October 2012. Found the camper first then went and got a truck to pull it. I think I over did the truck. I got a Chev Silverado (it can probably pull the biggest camper out there), then went and got the StarCraft 16 foot camper! The hitch is very large and heavy!
This summer I have been to Iowa, Indiana, and Tennessee and loving every minute of it. Have been learning every step of the way. The guy at the place where I keep it says that I go more than most of the RV's in the lot! Plan on one more with my grandson next weekend to Rock Island then will winterize and hang it up for the winter!
I haven't figured out how to add my photos or sign this!

Hoosier Welcome neighbor. :D

;) Depending upon the version of Silverado there are probably quite a few campers beyond the capacity of your truck. There are some huge trailers (largest push 18,000# gross) on the market these days. Many people underestimate how much truck is required to safely tow some of these monsters. :o I blame part of that on the truck manufacture's bragging in the "tow wars" (picture Toyota Tundra pulling space shuttle) and RV salesman who either do not understanding themselves or their desire to make the sale overrides common sense.

Halloween will probably be the end of our season.

See you down the road one day. :D

See Maintenance/Tech Issues on how to post pictures.

Hi Carol,
I'm in Illinois also, but without an RV yet. I'm still a day-tripper at this point. Where are you at in Illinois? I'm in Plainfield / Joliet area.

Carol, you could always winterize yourself and head on down to FL with the TT . . . enjoy the nice weather and fly home for the holidays!

Thank you for all the welcome!
I wish I could winter in a warmer climate, but am still working.
Maybe in another year or so.
