Glad you weathered your first camping trip without any major catastrostophes! Any reason you didn't try showering in your rig? For a weekend you should have had plenty of holding tank capacity, especially with your black tank. Gotta use all the systems to make sure they're working. ;)

About your hitch ... It might need some adjustments. There should be heavy rubber washers on the receiver that can be added/taken off if necessary. I had the very same thing happen with a trailer once & after getting it home the RV guy adjusted it & it never gave me any more trouble. Just because it's a new setup shouldn't make it hard to disconnect. If your RV dealer is nearby I'd hitch 'er up & take it over. Let THEM see if they can get it off easily. If they can't they should be able to help you. They should have checked it before you left anyway ...

We'll look forward to hearing your future adventures. You've got a beautiful trailer and a great tow vehicle -- you'll be able to go anywhere you want!

..
I'd say my Equalizer hitch latch/lift pops right off 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time, I have to tap the van forward or tap it backwards and then it pops right off.

Don't give up on your little cutie pie, it's all new to her and in time, she'll be a pro. When she starts barking, try redirecting her attention with a toy or treat. Positive tactics always work better than negative.

If you are having trouble getting the hitch off the ball, you may need to move forward or backwards just a hair to release the lock. Then also make sure you use some heavy duty grease on the ball so that it doesn't seize in the hitch. I usually will take the bottom half of a water bottle and stick over the ball in the campground so I don't end up with grease on my leg or pants trying to get stuff out of the truck.

Well done! Don't you feel great after your first camping experience? When I took my rig out for the first time I was so afraid that I would goof something up, break something, or set the thing on fire. And I didn't have to contend with hitching and unhitching. My dog Koka realized after a few trips that it was unnecessary to bark at everything, and now barks only when someone (or something, like an animal) comes onto our campsite. Every time I pull into a site for the first time, after I hook up, I take Koka on her leash and walk the perimeter of the site a few times. After that she seems to understand where our boundaries are. Someone knocked on the door very late one night and Koka went nuts - that's what I like, that's her job. I'm sure you little pooch will adjust with time.

I hope you have many happy times in your new rig. It can enrich your lives greatly.

Try using some white lithium grease on the ball.

You are going to get so good at this. I don't tow so no advice in that dept but not long ago I had tp patiently wait while a man tried to back into his site with his wife directing. He finally signaled me to go on by. I backed into my space across from them, leveled, hooked up and put out the slide. Then took my pooch Maggie for a walk. He was still trying to get his rig in his site. He yelled to me "Hey, that's not fair."

I later told him that not having to deal with others "help" was the secret.

I love living full time in my RV and going wherever the road takes me. I'm betting you will too. Good luck!

I am a rookie too, my hubby, dd 9 and our maltepoo have camped twice . Got our fifth wheel a few months back. As far as the smell girls have we got the stuff for you ! (trust me i am not a sales rep but I hate bad smells)... so we use NuGen. got it from our rv store and it's fantastic. We use a cheaper version in the grey tanks but in the black tank it takes 2 oz to the 40 gallon tank. ALso use LOTS of water.
We had a horror in front of us dumping this past weekend, the guy was in a camper and had no hose connected. HE was dumping directly to the street then washing it into the drain. This idiot would then stick the hose we had to use after him UP INTO HIS BLACK TANK and wash it out. We had gloves and lysol but the smell is just not going to go away !!! it was horrible......and to think we are so careful to make everything nice for others and then jokers like this exist !
Our pup is one year four months, he is a barker at everything and a jumper and a licking ilttle maniac, so after trying training for a year, and then a pinch collar etc... i got fed up and got a training collar.
I use it only on level one and he has had it three days. In those three days we have corrected all of his bad behaviors and I have had to push that button once a day and that is all ...... I love him but he was making life miserable . Now he gets love and hugs and no on has scratches all over them from his clawing at them.
