I enjoyed your story of your process of going fulltime, too. Do you miss your cello? You haven't updated your blog in a while, though, and I'd like to hear more.

I am determined to travel this summer, and I do hope our paths cross sometime so we can share a campfire and swap travel tales! 8-)

I forgot that I started that blog! What happened is the proverbial s@#t hitting the fan. Lyme Disease, Open Heart Surgery, Working Again...all very bad. Hope to get traveling again in May. Will have to get back to that blog! Re the cello - I do miss it sometimes but Jacqueline Du Pre I will never be; not even close. Funny that you asked about that though as I just had a reunion with my cello quartet partners a few nights ago. We ate good food, drank good wine and reminisced about our cello days. We were all adult amateurs.

Thanks a bunch, Carol, but I certainly can use all the inspiration that newbies provide, too! Have found a bunch of it here!

Malia,

Welcome. I responded to you on the avitar issue on another thread but wanted to respond here as well. I am also new to this site and still fumbling around a bit trying to take everything in. I am finding so much really good information here and also it is giving me the inspiration and direction I need to keep pursuing my dream that just popped out of the blue one day. I have no RVing experience whatsoever but I have always been a"risk taker," so why stop now in my golden years?

I enjoyed Shirley's video and am now finding your blogs extremely interesting and informative. I note that you and mtngal are both in Austin and wonder if you can give me some information regarding the RV parks there, preferably closer to Lakeway. I had planned to go to Oregon in March but now have decided to wait until June when the weather should be better. I have a son and a daughter in Austin so decided to spend some time with them before heading West.

I think I need to ask this question on another thread/category. Oops. I'll eventually learn. I promise.

Just jumping in here, my favorite Austin camping is McKinney Falls State Park, on the south east side of town near the airport.

Just wanted to report I heard back from RVing Women from an email I sent asking about Shirley Walker from that video. They said she is no longer a member. I sure hope she's ok - would love to know if anyone knows about her.

I even did a blog post about that video and her. Can't get it out of my mind - just found it so inspiring! [url]http://www.maliasmiles.com/blog/older-women-rvers/

Thanks,

Hello Malia,

I just wanted to let you know that one of the first things I encountered on this forum was your post to a newbie in the "introduce yourself" thread which had links to your blogs. I spent the better part of that afternoon reading your blogs and journal and I knew I was on the right path after reading about your experiences.

Glad youre here!

Hi Kim,

That really made my day - thanks a lot! I think it's important to share experiences and encouragement (especially among us gals) and it makes me happy when someone finds what I did helpful. Hope our paths cross down the road sometime! :D
