Hi to all!

Come on in and say hello.

Hi to all!

Postby Lynn2 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 10:37 pm

I'm so excited to say hello!

I live in Eastern Oregon where I have a home and couple of acres. I'm thinking about living and traveling fulltime in an RV now that all my family are gone and my daughter is joining the Air Force. To that end I recently jumped in and bought a 24' 5er which came with an older F250 diesel pickup. Um, what was I thinking I drive a small car and have only tent camped! It feels like I have Mr. Gargantuan with the Monster Truck. Who know that something without an engine could be so complicated. So far I have managed to get stuck in the bathroom because the door jammed (had to dismantle the knob to get out), drop it off the hitch onto the bed rails of the pickup (no damage) and back over my flower beds. I've camped in it twice (love it) but have never hooked up to water or used the propane which really intimidate me.

I'm excited and panicked by turns. Looking forward to all I can learn here and love any suggestions.

Thanks Lynn

Hi and Welcome, Lynn.

Funny the different things that intimidate us. Both water and propane are very easy- and with time, you'll get used to them. I expected you to say dumping for the intimidation. We all have different things that get us. I like to think I don't have any anymore, but will bet you that something will rear up and get me again one of these days.

Glad to have you with us. Jump in any time/ anywhere.

Hi Lynn and welcome!

I am jumping off the deep end! In the process of emptying my house and will be buying a Class A. Taking my Mom and hitting the road full time. I have never owned a MH so I have a lot to learn too. Believe me, I will be asking for help and advice from the ladies here. They are great, so feel free to jump right in with any questions and comments you have.

We love pictures and would love to see your new rig. There are quite a few ladies from Oregon in the forum. Maybe you could meet one or more of them to help you too.

Welcome Lynn, Good for you jumping in with gusto. I have just gone from a 24' mh to a 30' bumper pull and it is a little intimidating (okay alot intimidating) but the desire to do something has us halfway there. Check out the Get Together planned in Oregon. When you have made your first one you will feel like a real sistah..hope to meet you somewhere along the way.

Hi Lynn, I am one of the people from Southern Oregon. Good to see another Westerner. Check out our GTG at Valley of the Rogue State Park the end of September. Good time to get your feet wet with LOTS of helpers ha ha

Hi and welcome Lynn. I live in the Salem area. Please consider the get together in September if your schedule allows. Should be a great time!

What part of eastern Oregon are you in? I've spent some time in John Day and Baker City and had a great time. Some beautiful country over there that I will continue to explore in the future.

Ask lots of questions and we'll help where we can. Hope to see you at the get together!

...and at least one that I know of from Eastern Washington. Welcome, Lynn. But don't look at me for RV help - I don't even have a rig yet! ;) I hope you'll consider joining us in Valley of the Rogue campground at the end of September. I want another newbie there with me!

Welcome to the forum. Your adventures have already begun. I remind myself often that the folks that next have a goof up are usually the ones that aren't even trying much to begin with! :) Other than practices like brain surgery...there are areas of my life that I accept just getting out there and getting things done or an "I'll try" over the false safety of "perfect."

Welcome! we are also in Oregon, 2 miles east of I-5 about in line with Winchester Bay (if you were to draw a straight line from the coast inland). I also dream of living and traveling in our RV but my significant other is more comfortable with a stick & brick. I must admit I'm thoroughly enjoying our home and wonder if some day in the future I'll still want to be a vagabond. Time will tell. In any case, we are members of RV'ing Women also and the chapter has rallies from March to October. It might be something you'd be interested in joining. You can check out the website at www.rvingwomen.org There is a yearly membership dues to belong to the national organization, then a small due for the Oregon chapter but the fun, comraderie, support and having a national network of helpful women is worth the price to us. We've been members since 1999. The more the merrier! If I can answer any questions for you just let me know.

Hi Lynn,
Welcome to the group and congratulations on jumping into your adventure. It seems there is something new to learn everytime we take our little trailer out. Everything was confusing at first, but looking back over the past year we have learned so much. Last month, we learned how to clean off the refrigerator ignition tube. One of our "stupid moments" was standing around trying to figure out why the trailer wasn't lowering onto the hitch -- when we forgot to raise the front stabilizer feet. Just take it slow and remember that this amazing ladies will have good suggestions no matter what you ask.
