My Artsy Projects

I make these little collages; they're just fun and funky. It's an easy, inexpensive way for us non-artistic types to be creative. This is one of the most recent. I like finding old books in bargain bins, nothing over $5.00 and preferably pre-1950s. But I'll use anything at hand. I buy plastic frames at Walmart for $1.00 and mount the collage on index cards. All you need is a glue stick and a small pair of scissors and you're in business. Also, the supplies take up very little space, so I can pack them into the RV easily. Just cut out the images and put them in baggies. Easy peasy.

I reoriented and resized the image on Photobucket, but the changes"taken" yet. Try leaning sideways until they do.

Very fun! :)

I wonder if you could put them on something like a tile, seal them, and then use them as coasters. Might even be able to sell them as you're travelling ... :D

Thanks, Laura. Never thought of coasters or selling while I travel. I'll keep it in mind.

Neat work. I can't believe that's on a 3x5 index card! How do you get all those little cut outs so precise? I'm afraid if I tried to do that, it'd look like a preschool project.

Thanks, Vicki. This one is on a 4x6 card. That's the size is usually use. The cutting just takes some practice and I run a dark ink felt pen along the edge so you don't see the white. That helps the images blend. I use an exacto on the interior cuts, like between the branches for the birds. You could do it and it's a lot of fun. There are some amazing examples of collage art on Pinterest.

Nikki, this is only 3x5? It looks larger. I suspect you could make larger ones to hang. Really pretty and not something you see everyday. You could probably sell them at craft fairs.

Thanks, Sandi. You must have posted while I was responding to Vicki. This one is 4x6. That's the size I usually use. I do work bigger once in a while. I've given them as gifts, but never sold. There are a lot of people doing much better collage than I do. If you're interested, look at examples on Pinterest. Some of the work is amazing.

Cute! I actually have been on Etsy looking at collage type art to decorate the trailer. You are very talented. I have NO artistic ability. That's why I am addicted to Etsy. :)

You are hereby forbidden to ever refer to yourself as "non-artistic" again.

That is really, really nice. :D
