Dock board project (finished photo...)

Postby BarbaraRose » Tue Dec 12, 2017 8:29 pm

I mentioned earlier that I had salvaged a few boards from my dad's old dock that he built back in 1956. I am making wall plaques with them for me and each of my brothers. I painted one coat the same color as the boards, then a layer of Elmer's glue, then a layer of flat white paint. Then I took the blow dryer to them to make the paint crack. This is how they turned out. Once they dry completely, I will add two dock cleats to the top, that I also painted (they were black and I used white paint and wiped it off to make them look like old stainless steel. I ordered 3 copies of the original photo my dad took of the dock before any other homes or docks were built on his bay. I will put those on the boards, seal them with Mod Podge and attach rope to the cleats to hang them with.
Here are the boards I worked on today... (I left the back sides of the boards the way they were originally).
