Anyone like to sew?

I've got a deal for you . I would like to commission someone to sew me a cover for my portable ice maker, so it will stay nice while outside. I had in mind having it made of vinyl tablelcoth material, felt backing, with a drawstring (or something like that) at the bottom. Buy 3 tablecloths and make some picnic bench covers also, and the picnic table cover would match.

Anyone up for the job. What would this cost me?

I love the idea of coordinating outside patterns and have always wanted those bench covers.

Jill, do you sew at all? I did this for my icemaker and a micro/convection oven. Worked great until we had a big hail storm and the hail made holes in the vinyl. Next time am going to buy heavier vinyl like for furniture covers. All you have to do is lay the fabric wrong side out, over your icemaker. Use pins to make it fit. Sew where the pins are then turn up the bottom and make a hem. Don't need a draw string if it fits well. OR, I'll show you how at the Texas GTG - I'll even supply the sewing machine you just supply the material.

No Karen, I don't sew at all. I tried it once and got as far as cutting out the pattern then decided I'd find a different hobby. Mom always had a sewing machine and wanted me to enjoy it as much as she did, but it just wasn't for me. That and her love for shopping (I hate that, too), made her certain I had been switched at birth!

I'll surely take you up on this if I don't find someone to make me these covers before the gtg. Thanks so much for the offer.

them... being now I have an ice maker too... good idea there ... mmmmm maybe a few flamingos too LOL

Sounds like a good idea,... and I do sew,.... but absolutely can't take on anything more right now. When you get it done,... let us see pictures?

I don't sew, and it wouldn't be as pretty, but I'd suggest using a fabric like they use to cover motorcycles, scooters, cars, etc - it'll hold up longer than the felt backed stuff - My tablecloth last summer didn't last the summer -

Just an idea - but, alas, I don't sew - like you would be looking to someone to make it.

I sew but just don't have the time---to make anything for anyone else right now------ they would be really simple to make!!!!!
I use out door table clothes to make covers for my lawn chairs--etc/etc---- & I didn't really expect them to last all season--------but they have-- & still look good------- then I don't have to bring them inside--- I made throw pillows for the metal glider & metal lawn chairs also--out of out door table cloths-- & we have really enjoyed them!!!! And they were so simple to make!

Hey! From reading this I think I might have found my niche for my retirement! I'm Becky Homecy, Hilda Hausfrau, Suzy Homemaker...Ex Home Ec teacher (23 years) major with an emphasis on clothing and textiles! Maybe I could set up in campgrounds with my trusty Singer and make curtains, slipcovers etc for rigs! Teach knitting, crotcheting, cross stitch, macrame, etc.....think it would fly?
