I hope it is OK to post food. I had been driving past this gas station/grain processing plant, bakery/deli which is heavily advertised along I90 in Montana. (It's about 30 miles west of Bozeman.) This morning I decided to stop and see what they had. I got four of these whoppers. (They were $2 each but huge.) I ate one, froze two, and put one in the refrigerator for tonight. Also got some pancake mix. I will stop on my way north tomorrow to get some gas and a couple more of these, plus a loaf of bread. They have a deli with sandwiches, so it you are ever headed west along I 90, do stop here! Not only do they make their own baked goods, they grow and mill their own flour, which they also sell in many varieties. http://www.wheatmontana.com/index.php

Now here is a photo of the almost bear claw pastry I bought! Delicious.

Driving around last summer with Nan, I learned that our rigs had an automatic turn signal when a bakery was spotted. Not a bad thing, really!

It drew me in again this morning, so I stopped again and this time had a ham and cheese croissant. The ham and cheese were baked right into it. Delicious.

A lot of bakeries these days use mixes and all the stuff tastes the same--just like the storebought stuff. Yuck. It is so nice to buy stuff from a real bakery. I also bought a half-loaf of bread this morning. Told the lady selling half a loaf was brilliant because I always threw away bread because it spoiled so soon.

And the stuff from a real bakery is low carb and low cal which really makes it a place to shop. Right? 8-)

Oh, Joan, you trying to make us all feel guilty? It's working lol ... Actually, I rarely eat anything with sugars and bakery stuff anymore, but if I do, I like the stuff from real bakeries ... if I'm going to be bad, let me be bad in a good way (hahaha)

I absolutely agree, Beth! I can rationalize a bear claw into health food!

It's got almonds in it. Those are good for you.
