Marge opened the door for this....Candles

Postby dpf » Sun Aug 24, 2008 7:27 pm

I wanted to post this on the other forum...asked first and was told by the moderator that it was a no-no. I am a candle lover...and I have found what I consider the most outstanding product...perhaps some of you on the East coast have heard of them. Maximum Scented Soy Candles....they are wonnnnnderful. www.maximumscented.com I can't say enough good about them. I used to buy a very popular name brand candle that I won't run down on the web, but they sooted up my ceilings something terrible plus they had discontinued my favorite scent. A friend from a Boston Terrier forum told me to try Maximum Scented candles....they make over 120 scents. Everything they state on their website about their product is the honest to God truth. Keep the wicks trimmed short and they do not smoke the inside of the jar doesn't get black. The candles burn flat...no tunneling so you don't end up throwing away a jar half full of wax and the prices are very reasonable. A 32 ounce (most large candles are 22 ounces) will throw scent through our entire house which is over 3200 sq feet. I will warn you that the floral scents can be over-powering...don't think I would burn over a 16 ounce one in most houses. The eucalyptus scent is my favorite. But I also like the Smokers candle and the Pet Odor candle...both are good for cooking odors and musty odors also. I always burn a Smokers candle in the TT and I think it helps with mosquito/bug control and cutting the campfire scent that can get overpowering in the TT. I use the Pet Odor in the basement if it starts getting musty. No one can place the scent on either of them but it is very fresh and pleasant. Other favorites of mine are Grapefruit, Christmas Tree, Carmel Apple, Cotton Fresh, Lemon Grass and Vanilla Citrus. If you look at the website you will see that if you order 11 of one size the 12th is free. Many of my friends and I have started making group orders...last one I placed for the group was over $1500 dollars is that gives you any indication of how popular they have become in our little town of less than 600. We cut the price per candle and reduce shipping cost. They make great presents and I usually keep some on hand for that reason. There's even a Toasted Marshmellow scent for those of you (like me) who have to go through camping withdrawal in the winter months! ;) I can honestly tell you that I won't buy another brand candle again.....

Scented candles are usually overpowering for me - so with your recommendation - next time I buy, I'll try either the pet odor or smokers ones - which usually take away odor without leaving another.

Thanks for the recommendation. And maybe we'll need to have a room about recommended products. Something to think about :)

Pat,...thanks so much for that link. I can vouch for soy candles. There is a woman here in our town that makes them. They are long lasting and do NOT smoke,... but I think she only has them for sale near the holiday season. So,...... I'll follow that link and get some for year round. I like evergreen scent.

thanks again!

Just to be on the safe side, for those of you who are into scented products you might want to assess your health and your pets health. Is anyone in your household having frequent ashma attacks, ear or respiratory infections, migraines, skin irritations or neurological (I describe it as general brain fog) problems. All of these can be symptoms caused by fragrances.

This link might be of interest if you are concerned.

thanks for the link, I used to buy the soy candles from a coworker back in Colorado
but have not found anyone here that sells them. They really are great!
I also like being able to share product information on stuff, like a consumer report
type of thing, on this forum, isn't this wonderful?!!

Well if you decide to order from them let me know if you are as impressed as all of us in my little corner of the world! They truely are triple scented. Tonight when I read my email there was one from one of the ladies who orders for the IHS health service where she works and all the women were asking when we'd be ordering again. Time for Fall scents! If you have a tart burner the tarts are an excellent way to decide if you like a scent. Whenever I order they throw in some tarts as samples. One of my dearest friends has a seasonal greenhouse in Mitchell (home of the world famous Corn Palace) and around the holidays she opens and sells roping, wreaths, trees and pointsettas...last December was the first year she sold the Maximum Scented candles in holiday scents. She had removed the labels and added her own house label ( at drastically increased prices) and they sold like hotcakes...when she opened for the Spring season she had women coming in to see if she had any new scents...she hadn't even thought of carrying them in the Spring...she is going to next year! There's even a Chocolate Brownie candle for you chocoholics! My sons love the Leather scent..must be a testosterone thing..they always ask me order a couple for their house! The candles are made in eastern Pennsylvania...I'm in South Dakota...so there isn't any reason for me to recommend them other than I love them.

I buy scented candles but never burn them...how crazy is that. Some do soot up the interior but they are a fire hazard in such tight quarters especially with animals onboard. I buy the jared kind and take the lid off when I want the fresh scent then close them up again. Once in a while I'll lite one for a couple of minutes but only long enough to warm the candle. I don't use the electric candle warmers as for us with a cat and dog running around we'd end up with melted wax everywhere.
