have a question on a gadget

saw an ad the other day think on FB and thought hmmm so went to check it out but my computer is impossibly slow
some days guess in computer years it's way old has a right to be tired but give me a break need it to last a bit longer
so the gadget was and can't think of the name of it now!!! but looked like a thick quilted material that was folded up over a pan with say
stew or whatever you wanted to "slow cook" (you bring it to a boil and then put this around it) and suppose to be nice and hot and done when you are ready much like a slow cooker would be
So guess my question is has anyone used one, heard of it or any thing of that nature? and I'm sure would help more if I could supply a
name to it but Amazon was out of them

They go by various names depending on material used. Used to be called a hay box because they would bring pot to boil then stuff hay around it to insulate it. Also hot box? Try this to start.

Hope it helps

I 'googled' and found lots of ideas for making your own, but I couldn't find one like you described, Sheila. This one intrigues me

And here is a link to the "hay slow cooker" that sounds like what you are describing. I think I want to try one of these - including the ones in the other links, too). I'd love to be more and more green. Love the ideas.

Sounds like Wonderbag is one you can purchase and not make yourself. Wonder whether it's worth $50 to purchase one over making one? Ha, for me - would probably never get one made - so probably lolol - they sell them on Amazon.

the wonderbag was the name I recall now  Like you all said it sounds interesting...but not sure I would use it often enough
for the cost...and the safety does it stay at the correct temp to not make the food unsafe...need to look into it more
was actually hoping that someone here had one
I'm like you Beth it would be worth the money not to have to make it

I think this(Wonderbag?) was recently mentioned on one of my FB pages, I don't think it got great reviews tho.

I went to a preparedness talk at our church and the woman had brought her home sewn wonder bag along with a pot inside and timed it so the food was done ( a pot roast I think) and took the pan out during the meeting. She had to use potholders and be careful of steam and the food was well cooked. I think safety depends on two things: making sure the food is hot enough before you put it in the bag, and having enough insulation to keep the heat in. She also baked something else, I forget what but might have been a cake. She had patterns for a minimal cost.
