Bellows Plunger for sink drains

I have been looking for a very small plunger. A few weeks ago my shower drain was clogged. I used my usual remedy of baking soda, vinegar and boiling water but it took over night and several treatments before it worked. I suspected that a combination of Maggie's hair and mine may have been the culprit. Today I found a very small bellows plunger at Home Depot for $2.24 indicated for small sink drains. It fits fine over my shower drain and its cute size makes it easy to store. I love it when a solution presents itself.

For preventive care, I use a long plastic piece with teeth-like things on it. It does a great job for pulling hair out of drains. It's called a zip-it bath & sink hair snare - costs $2.48 at Home Depot also.

Long ago I was told our pipes etc aren't as strong and to not plunge anything. Don't know how true that is, but I do know that I try to not let anything but water down into my grey tank. I don't have an outside shower, or would use it to bathe peaches. Instead she gets bathed from a hose outside as necessary.

I am thinking that little plunger is probably safe though. I've never needed one, knock on wood.

There is another solution for a drain with a lot of hair in it that might work. It is a very thin, flexible thing with hooks on each side for catching hair. About a foot long. You push it down a drain and then pull it up full of gunk. I used one in my condo a couple of times to catch hair. I don't think it will work on a completely blocked drain, but it is a good preventive tool.

Here is one I found on the Lowes Site. I don't think it could hurt anything. Cheap also.
