Yesterday I downloaded Skype. You can make FREE Skype to Skype calls on your computer. The mike on my laptop (I have an older refurbished laptop) apparently isn't working so had to plug in a mike. Plugged in a cheapie webcam I already had but am having problems getting my picture to come up to other people. This morning it worked great (don't really know why) and had a great face-to-face talk with Carold. So come on ladies, download Skype, get a webcam and talk/see your kids, GK's, and other forum ladies.

Sorry, ladies, I've had Skype and gotten rid of it. I don't like phones or talking on line - but if any of you want to talk in PM, I do have both MSN and Yahoo - won't do webcam or vocal there, either. That's just me - and I have used them all. Let me type LOL Hope some of you have fun with it, though.

I got a free webcam with my Comcast internet plan. I never took it out of the box. I tried using a webcam years ago and never liked the jerkiness of the picture, or the fact that it's like taking on a CB. If you both are try taking at the same time, no one hears what's being said. It was fun at first but the newness wore off quickly. I have seen Oprah use it for inteviews. I"m sure the technology has come a long way. I'm glad you are enjoying yours, Karen.

My dial-up service is too slow for those gadgets. Does not work well.

ROFLMBO. Having met you Carolyn, my imagination is running wild with what it is the best thing since!! I got Skype but I only have one friend who has it. Here in Texas, life is pretty hectic with radiation and all Mary's Dr. visits but life will settle down and I'll get back with it!!

OK no more Skype. Had too many problems and could only call people already on Skype. I have a Magic Jack phone - $19.95 for a YEAR - unlimited calls local and long distance. The cost the first time you sign up is $50 which gives you a year and the Magic Jack thingy you plug into a USB port and a regular phone. Yeah, sometimes the audio cuts in and out but mostly it works great.

I use Yahoo Messenger and can make video calls with my webcam to anyone on MSN or Yahoo Messinger. Yeah, the picture is jerky but better than nothing.

Used to love using the webcam when the GD was littler and living in TX with her Daddy. Gave us the chance to actually SEE her beautiful little face and she would do sweet things like play songs on the guitar and sing! Ah, those were the days.

We use Skype to "talk" with and "see" our son who is working in Baghdad. It sure has been wonderful to be able to see him with Skype. His 6-year old and wife use it a lot and it really helps 'shorten the distance' between them. This weekend he took his laptop with web cam outside and rotated it around so I could see his base. He also showed us the room where he is staying. It gives me a little peace with worrying about his safety.

Easter is always a time when my family gets together. I couldn't make it this year and my nephew Skyped me. It was like being there with them w/out all the good food. It was so loud that sometimes the sound could cut out because it was trying to pick up everything being said. It was still fun.
