Good morning... :D Yep, according to all weather reports for this area, today is the last day of "Summer in January" for GA  ...Tomorrow is to be a rain day in the high 50s, low 60s....then back to highs of 50s for awhile....well, it was nice while it lasted....but will be great weather for campfires.... ;)

The Sultan has been under the weather with a stomach virus since yesterday morning...a little better this morning....(he took Spinner out and now is back in bed.) No fever, but nothing solid stays in the tummy....so lots of water and ginger ale (without the bourbon) and some chicken broth...seems to be doing the trick....and before you all ask, yes, we both have had our flu shots.... ;) Told him to keep it to himself....cause I don't need it...

I see that those going to the GTGs are either already there or on their way.....You all travel safe and enjoy yourselves......and be sure those cameras have fresh batteries cause I'll be looking for those great photos... ;)

Well, the coffee is ready and biscuits with your choice of jam, apple butter, maple sugar butter, or peanut butter available.....help yourself.. ;)

Have a great day.... :D

Good morning everyone. Yes, as Lori said, today is the last day of 80 degree temps for awhile. So we'll make the best of it. I'm looking forward to meeting Carolb and giving Irmi and her the dollar $2.98 tour of our historic towns of McIntosh, Micanopy, and Evinston. We'll have lunch at a favorite place in Micanopy that makes great homemade soup and sandwiches. They also have a yummy ice cream selection from a local dairy.

Tomorrow some rain will reach us and the daily high temps will drop to the mid 60s. Not too bad. I pray that the rain stops in Huntsville and that Sarah's Magic suffers no ill effects. For all those preparing or already on the road, watch the weather and stay safe.

Wishing Ernie well and the fur kids that are ailing too.

Note to self....charge camera battery.

Morning ladies. Woke up here in southern Florida reaching for the blanket. Brrr... down to mid 60s during the night. Well, considering what I had gotten used to here it was really chilly. Should be up to 80 today but yes, even here in paradise the temps are falling. Was hoping to see a post here from Sara saying the roads have cleared and she is south bound. Will check in later. Be safe everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Lori, I hope Ernie continues feeling better today.

Sure hope Magic is OK and Sarah can begin her trek south.

Carolb, glad you are having a great time.

Liz, your dollar tour sounds like a lot of fun for all of you!

Horizonseeker, stay warm there in sunny south FL. I wish I was there right now.

Looks like today will be our window of opportunity to hit the road and head south this morning. Finishing up my 2nd cup of coffee and then will get dressed to start the process of stowing and disconnecting. It has still been raining lightly this morning, but there is supposed to be a break in the rain right around 10. I plan on being on the road right around then too. I will be glad to be away from all the standing water and mud right outside my rig. The owner of the park never did bring any wood to make a walkway here. Got to spend some time with Mom yesterday afternoon before we leave. I sure am anxious about that. I know she will be OK, but this will be first time in about 40 years that I will be more than 30 minutes from her. Last 6+ years we had her right next door to us. I know youngest brother will watch over her, so that helps.

Well better get my rear in gear and get stowed. I hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning everyone. Looks like the cold front plaguing the west is headed for everyone in the east now. It was 25 this AM when I walked Tyler. Much better than the 15 yesterday :P The mercury is headed up today and is suppose to stay up for a while. Perfect for our gtg in Q this weekend. It froze again last night. DH kept telling me not to worry...we have Arctic Insulation package. I got out my owners manual to see exactly what that meant. Of course no help there. So went tot the Montana forum and discovered that we have heavy insulation, the pipes are wrapped and the tanks are heated. Huh? How are they heated. Only if you are using the furnace. The furnace ducting keeps the pipes and tanks warm. Ohhhh :P Good thing we had the furnace on  to save propane, I was trying to use the 2 space heaters (fir place & space heater), but that was not enough. So we turned on the furnace and set to low temp. Then use space heaters to take the edge off. Didn't even know it, but I was doing it right and worried needlessly. Glad the rig came with a bunch of extras we didn't think we would need. Thank you Arctic Insulation Package.

We are up and on our way out to visit Tombstone today. Then we'll pull anchor and head to Q tomorrow. Everyone stay warm and stay safe if you're on the road. Aloha, y'all

Dawn - Until about 4.5 years ago, and except for when I was away in school and a 11 month stint in Chicago, I've always lived within 30 minutes of my parents. When Daddy was going through his cancer treatments and then after his stroke, I lived 10 minutes away. The same when Mom was going through her cancer treatments. I made many a middle-of-the-night run to the hospital with both of them. Then Mom moved to Atlanta to be closer to Audrey and near my other sister. It's different being 800 miles away rather than 8. And because Kathy travels all week, I worry about Mom more. Fortunately, I have BILs that help out with Mom duty.

There may be a break in the clouds today - yay! And the temperature may get all the way up to 49. But with the damp and the wind, it still feel bone-chilling cold.

Loving all the mini-GTGs on the boards and can't wait to read about the big ones.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

So sorry to hear that Ernie is suffering from the whoops and poops, as my wonderful neighbor from back home, Issy, who was a nurse, always called that stomach virus! That is something I do not want EVER again----it really does a number on you. (Mostly number 2!)

It is destined to get cooler down here after this last 80 degree day, just in time for my friend Kathy to experience when she arrives tomorrow. But, as some have said, it will be infinitely warmer than back in the North Country! I am looking into getting a nice little fireplace-like electric heater for the trailer, although I have a perfectly good electric heater for it now----just no pretty flame ambience!

My social security check got deposited today, and LO! This year's will be about 10 bucks more than last year's! I am excited, as I wondered if it would be cut, even. So now off to pay bills and get ready for zapping this afternoon and one more day at the pool before winter returns. We should be fine at the GTG with campfires and hot toddys! Time is drawing nigh!!!

Glad that Red has that Arctic insulation package----my trailer is supposed to have insulated water tanks and pipes, too, when running the furnace. Nice deal.

Liz and all should have a fun time doing the tour of those three historic towns. Liz is a great guide! (Get that camera charged!)

Dawn is on the road again-----soon I will get to meet you----YAY! Your mom will be fine, especially with your brother not too far away. Usually it's the moms feeling that separation anxiety when their kiddies leave the household, but with you two, it's vice versa!

Off I go to feed pups and take them for a morning stroll. Happy Wednesday to all.

Good morning or rather Oh What a Beautiful Morning!!! Cold but bright blue skies and much sunshine... the rest of the ice will melt off my deck...

Oh McIntosh is a lovely little town... takes you back to the early days... I stayed at Sportsman's Cove for a couple of years and got to ride my trike around... my daughter came one year and we drove all over... so ladies you are in for a great day!!

Today I will catch up on laundry and change my bed sheets... later I will go to the store and get things for dinner tomorrow at my daughters... not much else going on...

Hope everyone has a great day
Kath

Red, I have the same setup, and i do exactly what you do. Just make sure your furnace runs occasionally. Your thermostat may sense the heat from the electric heater and prevent it from running and heating the tanks. Mostly I use the electric heater during the day but the furnaces at night when it gets really below freezing.

Moved to new campground in Big Cypress this morning. Can't make reservation here but I got here very early. It is a hidden gem with pond, paved roads, and paved sites!!! Poor cell service, however, and almost no shade but worth it because of quiet and beauty. Everything is relatively new with spots easy to get into. Lots of grass. Will write up review after I leave. No trees so satellite tv is working great!!

Hope everyone has good day. See you soon at GTG.

It is 37 degrees already here! Not gonna last much longer tho. Our arctic blast is due to hit here on the weekend with highs around -5 below. Much more typical of mid January! We were supposed to get an inch of snow overnight but I don't see any evidence of that so it must have missed us.

Got quite a bit of cleaning done around here yesterday but still have some more to do. Didn't get anything done while I was sick, so I got way behind.

Lola has been a whole different kitty lately! She lays next to me on the loveseat during the day and has finally started sleeping on the bed with me at night! She even slept on top of me the other night and she has never done that before!

Went out for awhile last night with Steve (my XBF) to a local bar with a jazz band (they are famous around here for their jazz and blues bands) and played some pool. Was nice to get out for awhile.

Sure wish I was headed to Florida next week! Will have to do it for sure next year when I will have some vacation time accrued and hopefully more money to work with. I am anxious to see the pics of all the action! Sounds like the weather will be good and no mini snowmen will be made on picnic tables this year! (anyone remember that?).
I have been reading books on Florida and can't wait to get down there to explore different areas I am reading about. Still plan to head down there to live eventually (since CA is too expensive for me to go back to). I really like the Ocala area with the rolling hills and horse farms! My friend Cathy says I would love that area!

OK, now I need to make sure this actually posts today! I thought I posted a nice long post yesterday and it never showed up!

Good Morning All

Mother nature still on her rampage around here and yes it is still raining but we are above freezing for now. Rain to change over to snow tonight with an inch or so of heavy wet snow to cover the ground tomorrow. Temp will drop to 28 but warm back up a bit on Fri. and Sat. Real Artic blast to arrive Monday with lows dropping to 12. Just in case anyone dozed off, Mother Nature threw in a small earthquake for laughs. Flooding is very wide spread as most rivers and streams are overflowing; lots of roads closed.

I'm still looking at a chance for small window of time to get out of here on Sat or Sun depending on weather and flood levels. Sure wish I had one of those winter packages on Magic. Not sure if she is poorly insulated or it is just due to all the thin big windows but I've found it difficult to get it comfortably warm inside when it drops into the 40s outside.

Good thing you ladies have done such a good job of teaching me about "jello plans".

Dawn: I hope you find a route far enough to the south to make it out before snow hits MS.

Everyone stay safe and warm. I've got to get dressed and go out into this mess for just a little bit.

Must be the day for sudden visits to the vet. I noticed Andy was going out to potty way too often this morning and called the vet suspecting he had a bladder infection. He had a PH of 9 and 6.5 to 7 is normal so he's on antibiotic and cranberry pills for 14 days :( Vet said unusual for a male dog to have a problem of this type. He doesn't act like he feels bad and I feel bad giving him antibiotic for so long but, guess I need to trust the vet on this.

I am totally freaking out, I called the RV repair place to see how things were going and they haven't started on it yet, said my appt is for Monday the 21st when the guy who works on refrigerators will be back from vacation. ACK ACK :!: :!: Wonder why they didn't ask why I was bringing it in so early when I dropped it off last Saturday. I don't remember them saying a date when I called just said bring it in on Monday or drop it off by noon Sat. I was going to buy an iPad Mini, maybe I need a hearing aid instead :D The guy I talked with said he would check to see if the safety shut off worked and if so I could just leave it on propane the whole time I was gone. Guess that means I'll be leaving it on when I get gas. Oh well, Monday may work, if the cold front gets here early I won't leave until Wed. when it's supposed to start warming up again. Plans in JELLO for sure.

I just got back from a few errands and checked forecast. It has changed to even worse than it was earlier today. The flood warning has been upgraded to an areal warning encompassing the entire TN valley (that includes ALL of north AL + parts of southern TN. Areal warnings are relatively rare as the dam system can usually control areas of flooding even if they cannot stop it. The TN River crest at Ditto moved forward into Friday with up to 7 feet of water over the campground. Seems like more road closing are being announced every hour. Also now under a winter storm watch with 3 to 6 inches of snow mixed with sleet forecast for over night and tomorrow. Think an inch for Birmingham. Going down to 28 here tonight.
I feel my chances of getting out of here slipping away although forecast is for warmer this weekend, then plunging on Monday. If it does warm up enough that will melt the snow but add to the flooding.
I'm not giving up yet tho.
