Good morning all! :D I've been owt of it with my head cold & have missed all the national news abot the storms/tornado in the FL area. Hope all are safe! LOL, BJ wanting to eat owt for Cmas bt only a Chinese restr open--made me think of "A Christmas Story"!!! My favorite Cmas movie  All the talk abot getting rigs washed/waxed & ready to go on the road--I'm getting anxiety! Need to get mine in for an oil change & check-p, bt I also will wait til I get to FL before I do the wash/wax thing. For me, no anxiety abot Cmas--I have only my bro here, & we do "gifting" threwghowt the year. Getting together to make cookies (still haven't posted the recipe) is the highlight of owr holiday--we'll do more this weekend. Head cold still aggravating, bt have a half day of school this a.m. Now, to poor another cp'o'coffee....Y'all have a great day, enjoy loved ones, be safe wherever yew are! :P (I know that's the wrong "poor"--dang, need to ask Santa to bring me a "yew" key! )

Good Morning Carolb, Lori and all,

Another chilly morning here in the U.P. About 18 degrees with a bit of a breeze. But supposed to go up to near 30 today. And next few days are showing 30's for temps. Now I know that sounds cold for those of you who are not used to the cold, but for here, it's mild. No snow in sight either till the weekend, and even that's no big deal. Had an email from the neighbor who is watching my house and taking in mail, the they had about 5 inches of snow down there and he blew out my drive. Nice. All told, I really could care less about that place right now. My heart is up here and if feels more like home. But then it's cause I"ve been coming here for a number of years and am familiar with the area and getting more so as time goes one. Also cause I am on a lake to, which i love. Now, if I could just find a way to hit the lotto (never play it though), I could buy a cottage on the lake and park myself permanently.

Red, loed your description of sitting in front of a warm fire with a good book and a hot drink. Reminded me of all the years we had a fireplace too. I miss that. One thing about this forum, it's given us a good insight into how we live in different parts of the country. I never thought those down in TX would have need for a fireplace for instance.

Nothing much planned for today Some work on Christmas sign, which isn't turning out like I want, but one always has to have those prototypes anyway. Will refine the next one. Will probably start Christmas cards as well. Need to get them out and gone. Course doggie walks are on the agenda too. Ms. Tessa is kind of quiet of lete. I had to start her back on her antibiotics again and I knew they would make her sleep more and not eat etc. Doc. suggested maybe trying her on 3 pills a day and see what happens. I had been giving her 2 before and he said that was okay too. But now that she is back on 2, same result, so I am going to try just 1 a day for awhile. These pills are the one thing that's helping with the infection and keeping the kidney disease at bay. So no pill for her this morning. Maybe later this week, we will take a ride West and see what's up over that way. I think we might be able to get into Van Riper State Parks campground and go walking yet as the snow is only about 3-4 inches deep right now, although with my girls, their feet get ice balls cause of the fur. So have to stop and have paw cleaning once in awhile.

I know you are waiitng for some pictures from up here, but honestly, there isn't much going on right now and i haven't really been out to take any yet. Will post some of my digs here though as soon as I take them. I have a number of pictures from this area posted in General Talk from being here in October if anybody wants to see what it's lke up here thought.

Enough rambling about nothing here. Am heading off. Have a wonderul day all, stay safe, happy and healthy. And today's date by the way is the last we will see of the month, day and year all the same in our lifetime. It will be a long time before the same month, day and year come around again :)

Good morning all. It is 27 outside. There is heavy frost on the grass. Sue, yes most houses in TX have fireplaces. It gets cold. Not snow as much, but ice. I let Tyler out to do his business and he looked at me like I'm crazy. He tipped toed out on to the frost, did his thing, and ran back in. The neighbors put coats on their dogs and horses in this weather. I bought one for Tyler, but of course it is in the RV.

The RV has been at the dealer for a month now. Two weeks ago it was ready, but then we decided to have them add a battery to the system. Take out the 12v and put in 2 marine deep cycle 6v in parallel. So now it is ready to be picked up. I'm guess that DH might just think of something else for them to do to avoid having to back it up into the drive way

I have to go to the doctor this morning. So, time to bundle up and head out. Then some shopping. Everyone have a safe and happy day. Aloha y'all

GOOD MORNING ALL!

So sorry to hear of all your funeral news, Kath----this is a horrible time of year to have to have the sadness, not that any time of the year is any better than others, I suppose, but Christmas....... there is no excuse for the heroine overdose, but I'm not sure why your daughter's mom-in-law had to die. I will be sending comfort to you all today. I love the personal presents you got for your great grandkids, Kath! I may look for one of those for Orion.

They are speaking of rain and more storms again this afternoon, and I am hoping it is mostly just rain and no heavy-duty winds and lightning. I am trying to figure out how to get my daughter Mandy, Orion, and Joe down here for a couple of weeks during Mandy's semester break, but not a one of us has any money to spare. It may be that they have to stay up north this year again.

Sorry to hear of Tessa's plight again, Sue. Sick pups have a way of making us feel anxious all the time----at least they make me feel that way.

Today will be a day of Christmas shopping, perhaps, if the storms don't get to be too much. I will leave the pups here at the house and try my shoes out at the tons of malls in the area. I can only afford little stocking gifts, but those are fun to open! I would like to get all 4 kids (my two and their significant others) season's passes to Sea World, however, so I will have someone to visit there with me. That will cost about 360 dollars for all of them. And it doesn't look as if the northern two can afford to come down anyway.

I am going to try to find some yarn and crochet hooks today and re-teach myself how to make some pretty things. I wish I had my favorite patterns for warm hats down here with me, but perhaps I can find one on line that will suffice. I am going to make my Christmas card for you all today, and then try to figure out a way to publish it on here! I hope I have my Christmas poem that I wrote many, many years ago when I was alone on Christmas Eve----in my mind if not written somewhere on this computer.

Here's hoping you all find something fun to do today, and can stop in and tell us about you and your activities. I love the morning coffee break!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning Carolb, Soos, Kathleen, Red, Lori, Colliemom and all to follow. Hope I did not forget anyone.

Kathleen, so sorry to hear about the deaths. I always hate to hear of someone dying of an overdose. Such a waste of a life. Prayers going out to your daughter and SIL for the loss of his mother. I am glad your computer is back.

Red, good luck with the doctor today. I know you are tired of having to go see them.

Soos, I would love to see the hats when you get them finished.

I have my fireplace going here in LA too. We made it in safe and sound yesterday afternoon. Heard from Sharlotte and we are going to GTG on Friday. Woohoo, my first mini GTG. It did not get as cold here last night as predicted, so no frozen water hose this morning. That was good. Got out and took some pictures this morning, so will work on getting my blog updated later today or tonight. Have to work today since I didn't yesterday. Also need to get to a grocery store.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Sue, I had to grin about your lottery comment. I don't play it either -- but I have this detailed fantasy about picking up trash (in a park, maybe?) and finding a winning ticket. Lots of fun to imagine all the things I would do with it!

Going to Ikea later today, since my brother-in-law wants to look at cabinets. Swedish meatballs for lunch!

We need a Happy Hour thread to go between the Morning Coffee and the Campfire!

> Belle, you voted twice for wine! You know how much trouble you get into with that stuff!! You don't want to be a bad infuence on Hey You and Hey You 2.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Campfires can be whenever......that is the best part! Remember those folks that crawl out of their tents and sit by the fire wrapped up in their sleeping bags waiting for the coffee to heat up and trying to get warm.....
