Up North Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Up North Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Dec 08, 2012 8:20 am

Good Morning everyone,

Just a quick post here before I hit the road heading north. Have a little light snow coming down right now, but no big deal and the farther north I drive, the less there will be. Roads look good and I am so loaded that I will probably glue to the road  Honestly, I wondered for a while if I would have room for the girls  I don't have a lot of stuff going, but it's all bulky stuff. One needs to take along heavier winter duds this time of year and since I am renting for a month, I also have to take my own linens, towels etc. plus being the holidays, I am hauling a small christmas tree in it's box and some Christmas decorations. All takes up room. Coming home it will be lighter as the food will be gone as well as the staples :)

Just wanted you to know that Tessa got a good checkup yesteray. Her vet said the we have slowed the kidney disease donw which is good. It will always be there of course and eventually will run it's course, but the longer we keep it at bay, the better for her. She will be going back on her meds tonight and I know that a couple of weeks or so, she will get a bit under the weather again from them, so will take her back off. It's the only way to keep the infectin at bay. And Ms. Sassy is in dog heaven cause she can eat the same Prescription food that Ms. Tessa is on, so she's one happy dog. My pockebok may not be, but..... The vet wrote me a script so I can get more from a local vet up there. I have 5 cases going with me right now.

Am ready to hit the road here, just need to get a bowl of water for the dogs, a mug of some for me, turn off my water pump and off we go. Will check in here when I am on a WiFi spot someplace. In the meantime, wishing you all a wonderful day. travel safe if you are on the road and I guess that goes for me this time too. Keep Healthy and Happy.

Good morning Sue and all that follow. Sue, have a wonderful holiday up North. I Have Been wrapping gifts, ready to be mailed. One of the kids is a "green" conservationalist. She goes way beyond recycling. Doesn't want wrapping paper, boxes, ribbon, etc. "It uselessly clutters the planet's Eco system." They are also outdoor enthusiasts, rock climbers, kayakers, cross country skiing, biking to work. So I give them gift certificates to REI. But how to pack wrap them?? Found 2 waterproof outdoor boxes ($3 each) that clip on to your gear. Then used bandanas as wrapping, red for her, blue for him. Used bolo tie to on his and a festive hair scrunchy on hers as bows. All reusable materials. Then I recycled an Amazon box to pack them in. But, darn it won't fit on the carrier pigeon  Doing it green takes a lot more time and effort, but totally doable :P Doing the other kids gifts and boxes the traditional, wasteful way :P so much easier.

I'm getting into the Christmas spirit. I like giving to others. I've never been one that spends on myself. DH is trying to teach Meyer that by example  But, I find myself walking around singing Christmas carols.....they're piped in everywhere you go. And nobody looks at you like your crazy when you sing Christmas carols :P Singing creates endorphins and endorphins make you feel good. For 30 years I sang the Messiah with a huge choir at Christmas time. I would feel so happy and exhilarated after each rehearsal. That is one of the reasons you feel good after a church service. Singing has doped you with endorphins :P I know there is a Messiah sing-a-long somewhere in Houston and I'm gonna try to make it this year.

Another gun show today with DH (I thought they would be over once hunting season starts :? ) then skeet shooting. My neck is not good enough for shooting long guns yet. So I'll just watch and make fun of him. He can't hear with the ear protection on

Too all, a great day. Be especial careful if you are on the roads with the rest of the holiday crazies  aloha y'all

Good morning Sue, Red & everyone!

Sue, have a safe & fun trip! I'm looking forward to your pictures and hearing from you when you find the Wifi hotspot!

Red, I too enjoy singing/humming Christmas carols. I put a tape in of a Christmas concert I went to at a cathedral in NY a few years back because the music is so beautiful.

It's a damp, foggy day here on the eastern shore but the temperatures are mild. I have the second batch of Chex Mix in the oven and will probably make another batch later in the day. Then I'll start on the cookies. I'm so excited to hear about those on the road and it sounds like there are several Fits being used as toads now. I will seriously have to give them consideration when we decide to get a toad. Whatever you are doing, please be careful and safe.

Good morning ladies
yee haw, its Saturday, and bet you can't imagine what I'm doing ;) by now ya'll should know the answer to that ...Laundry
And here you probably thought it was going to be something fun. But I do have something fun planned for the near future, just
don't know exactly what it is but will certainly be fun.
Have been trying to figure out my christmas list, daughter and famly, son, and of course the 2 older grandsons. Grandsons (being
teenagers) love that money so gift cards there. Daughter has always been hard to buy for so...guess a bigger gift card there she
can spend on the whole family. Son is not so hard to buy for, he loves everything  and since he's been wanting us to get
cox internet put in I've decided that would be a perfect gift for him. Will go over to the Cox store today and look at the wireless
modems. Salesman last week told me they have a unit for $30 that works just fine (its what he bought). They also have a cheaper
one and several more expensive ones. Can also just rent a unit, but would rather buy one. Then will sign up for the 6 month
intro price of $19. That will save me $45 a month as I can turn my crosswave off until I actually go on the road. So thats the plan :D
Buying the gift cards at Frys gives me 4x the points towards my gas. Yesterday I paid 2.82 a gal :D It just tickles me to see the price
drop below the $3 mark. (I've been know to be easily amused)
About time to get dressed, get the girls poddy pads refreshed and finish up my chores for the morning. Ya'll have a great day, be safe
and hope to see a forum sister or two sometime in the near future. :D

Foggy on the GA coast today, too, Irmi...... ;)

Am knitting my little fingers off making checkerboard house slippers for last minute gifts here....my Mom use to have them on hand for last minute gifts for guests who popped in unexpected, but also work great for the person you have no idea what to get them.. ..Everyone can use slippers.... ;)

Ernie's off with Andy somewhere collecting stuff they need for projects this weekend and coming week....Gwen's doing stuff in the house...so we're all busy.... :)

Okay, back to the knitting needles and yarn....

Have a great day, all.......

Great news about Tessa! Have a wonderful holiday in the snow, Sue.

I don't know about nobody noticing when you sing carols, Red. Yesterday I found myself singing in the grocery checkout line, and it caused a stir. Of course, I was singing the chorus "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow," and nobody wanted snow on the road! Everybody in line chipped in with their opinion on 1) carols and 2) snow on the road, and we all ended up laughing. I always used to get in trouble at school when I was a kid -- singing without realizing I was doing it and breaking the quiet.

Everybody have a grand Saturday!

Louise, I am not a crowd type of person, so I enter the store when it opens at 7:00 (I live in the country and our stores aren't open 24/7) and I am usually the first person out, close to 8:00. But I'll have to try that the next time I shop to see if the cashier will sing along with me! LOL! I like having the "not so serious side of life" around me.

Our weather is cooling down - long sleeve shirt, closed shoes and a light jacket to go to the clubhouse last night.

I have never heard of Flash Mob, but I got this from a cousin this morning. Watched this one and then another with Hallelujah Chorus. Thought they were pretty neat.

Our older daughter played Hallelujah Chorus on the piano accompanying the high school chorus which our younger daughter was part of. We sure missed hearing her play piano when she left for college. That has probably become my favorite Christmas song. I don't sing in public.....can't carry a tune.

Slowly getting the camper ready for travel next week. The truck gets an oil change Tuesday, I get a haircut and pedicure that day. We leave for several days in Yuma on Wednesday to see friends. I hope that isn't going to be go, go, go.....

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are up to. Lucky Sue in the U P.

I love when people just break into song. I wish they do that just once when I am in the mall. Watching this shows how that mall looks just like any other mall across the country. They've all become so generic!!

I love that one and lose it every time I see that young man fall on his knees. Of course O Holy Night is my absolute favorite Christmas hymn.

Maggie, that young man falling to his knees is when I lost it as well. O Holy Night was always my favorite until Hallelujah Chorus. When I was in junior high, we did a processional at church soloist singing O Holy Night, so actually both those songs have very special memories.
