GOOD MORNING, all!

I have blueberry-flavored coffee brewing this morning as I had to down 8 ounces of water (shudder) to take my Fosamax this morning before anything else can pass my lips. I HATE having to drink water in the mornings once a week.....was supposed to have been yesterday, but more often than not, I forget! Am going to ask doc if I can switch to that once a month type, Boniva, or whatever they call it, and maybe I will remember better!

Temp is now standing at 20 outside, and quite cool in here as I slept soundly and fire went out in the night. I have my kerosene Monitor heater running, and I can't see my breath any more! No wonder Molly and the cat were both on my bed this morning, burrowing deeper into the covers!

We have a half day of regular classes at school today and then parent conferences this afternoon. Lucky kids get to go home at 10:30!

Hope everybody has a good Thursday wherever your travels take you! Coffee is ready now, but I still have to wait another 20 minutes before I can drink some! It sure does smell good!

Good Morning Soos and those just wandering into Zeee's Kitchen!

Got an idea for you Soos,... how about trying Viactiv,.... it's a calcium supplement in caromel form. I use the chocolate flavor and it is not at all medicine-y tasting. I take two a day. I buy them at Sam's Club in a large container so they are very economical and they contain 500 mg. of calcium per.

Also, have you tried a little notebook by your computer where you write down the frequent abbreviations that you can't remember? I've done that myself for other things and it works well. Just one of those very small ones. We'll always be glad to tell you what things stand for, but in the mean time you don't get the gist of a post.

Elementary kids get out here in our school district too, but that won't affect me as I work in highschool.

I'm nursing a nasty cold right now so i'd love to stay home today but can't. Today is my day to close out the school taxes and do the final report for the county treasurer's office. so i'll have to work late after the regular school day. But i really enjoy that work,... not complaining.

OK,.... off to read the rest of the messages,.... have a great day everyone!

Goooood Morning!

Just a quick fly by this morning. I over slept and Kelly had to wake me up! I have been so tired I think I'll go get some super duper vitamins.

I've got coffee in hand and I'm going out the door.

Have a good day and be safe.

Love to all

Goooood Morning all. I almost envy all of you with cold temps. Its still warm here and since we had a couple of little sprinkles of rain, its humid, too. Got a recall letter from Gulfstream about my Dometic frig. Chris, my RV guy is coming this morning to do the fix. Sure miss all the ladies (and guys) from the GTG. Am having to push myself to get back into a regular routine. Not much to write about - just daily same old, same old. Well, guess I'll do laundry today. Exciting, huh? Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning All, I have rested up and warmed up. I ground up most of the leaves yesterday. I had the bright idea that I would leave 3 huge piles to put on a section of yard that I wanted to make a flower garden. My plan was to smother the weeds. I ran out of daylight and this morning it is raining and suppose to continue for days. I guess the only thing I will smother is the grass under the piles of leaves. :( I will have to go to plan b as soon as I figure what that is. Today will be housework inside, yuck! My reward will be a trip to the library (they have easy chairs) read magazines and local newspapers. Have a good day.

Cedar,
I take a minimum of 1600 mgs of calcium a day - plus make sure to eat calcium rich foods - and still have been taking fosamax for several years. I've been on the calcium regimen for many years before the fosamax - but still developed osteopenia - the fosamax has so far, kept it from getting worse - for which I'm very grateful.

Soos - I thought about changing to the monthly - but decided I have even more trouble with Peaches monthly pill than I do remembering every Friday (although sometimes, yep, I take it on Saturday) - so I decided to stay on what I'm doing - but figure what is best for you.

And any other of you women out there in danger of osteoporosis - it's really a terrible disease - I know because I watched the pain it caused my mother and aunt - so make sure you are doing all that's necessary. Those of you with pale skin and complexions and slighter builds are more prone.

Morning all, it's gorgeous here, with the leaves still trying to change. I went for an early walk at McKinney State Park and met a couple who are volunteer hosts. They mentioned that by mid December the Park will be looking for more hosts. Just thought I would mention it. Very lovely location and close to Austin for other fun activities.

Today I am *thinking* about shopping (really looking, not buying) for a 4Runner. Mostly just to check out the different models and tow packages available. I"m pretty set on a 6 cyl, 2x2, so nothing fancy, but I do love the outside temperature and direction indicators! So must have those.

My coffee flavor for today is Creme Brulle that I purchased at the tx gtg outing in Fredricksburg. It is very yummy......

Beth, like you I take 1200 mg of calcium a day along with the fosomax once a week. I thought about doing the once a month, but figured I'd probably really forget it AND with the once a month you have to wait for an hour before you have anything else to eat or drink. I have a hard enough time with 30 minutes! BTW, I am neither fair skinned or complexed. I am short---I mean vertically challenged! I do think about the once a year IV that they do...maybe when I get a bit older I'll consider talking with my doctor about that.

Back again, just to add to the bone conversation!

I take calcium supplements daily (when I remember them..chewable coffee-flavored ones!) and eat a lot of cheese, veggies with calcium, yogurt, and more.....BUT, when I had a bone scan (light radiation) once for a base and then 2 years later, another...it showed a marked deterioration in one hip...other bones are not too bad, but osteoporosis in my right hip, osteopoenia elsewhere. Because it was so marked, my doc wanted me to go on daily self-injections of some stuff, which I decided to put off in lieu of trying to remember to be more concientious about taking my Fosamax! I also added another calcium-fixing drug to my daily regimen, Evista, but finally decided it was that that was causing me to have wicked leg cramps. Since I cut that out, I have had NO leg cramps.

However, I now need to go for another bone scan thingy to assess the damage again. I do NOT need my skeleton to disintegrate beneath me, for sure! If I see more rotting bones in there, I will probably do whatever I need to do to HALT it ASAP!!! (Including giving myself daily shots of some crap.)

I am very conscientious about what I need to do to remain healthy....whether I do it or not is another thing! (Like a colonoscopy!) But my bone problems, like Beth's, are not something that just adding more calcium to my diet will fix. Osteoporosis is a real aging problem for many women, and for some men, as well.
