Black Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Black Friday

Good morning all :) Waking a few pownds heavier this a.m.--anyone have that feeling? Thankfol for the good food & company of yesterday tho. I enjoyed reading of all the activities going on with my forem family. BJ's experiemental meat-cakes :( Ava, almost debt-free :!: , Catherine having her rig back (yeah, go for the Cmas lights on it!!), & hmmm, barking dogs--well, except for Soos's ;) Dogs seem to like to play those tricks sometimes--barking at imaginary phantoms & "forgetting" to bark when there's danger right owtside owr windows. On the other hand Soos, maybe they DID bark & yew missed that too! Now the after-Tday/pre-Cmas whirlwind. No shopping for me, bt someday I'd love to be beamed down to a Mall to be a people-watcher on this "capitalistic holiday"--Black Friday. I've been awake since 3:00, & half thot of going to my local WalMart in search of a new laptop. Very small town, so they probably aren't crazy bz. It's 5:30 now, still may do that...Y'all have a great day... :P

Good Morning Carolb and all,

I don't even want to think about getting on the scale this morning, although we didn't have a really big meal, we had enough. We didn't even take the sweet potatoes and gravy out of their pans, just set them on the counter with the other stuff and filled our plates. I really enjoyed having my friends up here even though it was a short time, about 24 hours, hence the unfancy and quick dinner. They left shortly after we ate to continue their jjourney across the U.P. to Northern WI with another planned overnight in between. But we did manage to get in a lot of talking, run out to visit one of their neighbors who lives by them downstate and has a place up here as he had some new machinery he wanted her husband to see. And yesterday after the bird was in the oven, we took a long walk with the dogs as it was such a beautiful day here, record breaking 62 and plenty of sunshine. So we packed a lot in that short, with time out to sleep of course

I will be heading to town as soon as it gets daylight though as I have a couple of errands to do, one being to get some chow for the fur kids. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory and i want to get up there and back before the snow hits late this morning. With the winds in the 12-35+ range, there will be some not so nice weather this afternoon. 2-4 inches of snow too. i worry about my friends as it's supposed to be a bit worse in the U.P. and they aren't not used to driving in those conditions. Downstate Detroit area is not as susceptible to wind driven lake effect snows like the northern part and upper peninsual areas of Michigan are.

Hope you all had a nice day yesterday and everything turned out as you hoped. Well BJ's didn't quite go as planned, but now it will be another memory of "remember when" on a particular Thanksgiving.

Time to get rolling here. Have a great "fasting" day all.

For years, I was out the door in the early morning hours for Black Friday before I found on-line shopping.

No scales for me. I threw mine away when packing up the rig. I know I probably put on a few pounds yesterday though.

We've got to go up to the ranger office this morning to extend until tomorrow. Couldn't get the sites I wanted at the COE park we are heading to until tomorrow. Then we HAVE to go do laundry. Have been trying to get that done everyday and everyday there has been a reason not to drive back to town. Then back here to enjoy one more day of this park. Want to just sit and veg for a day.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good Morning... my son got me coffee at Caseys and an apple fritter... we did not have any sweets yesterday and just had regular ham, green beans, mashed potatoes and a salad so we were good... buttttttt today we will go to my daughter Margie's and she will have way too much for us to eat...
Chuck and Margie are shopping now... not me have never gone to the black friday sales but have bought a few things on line from time to time... It would be too tempting to spend what I do not have if I went...
We will all go to the boys houses when we are out so that will be fun... that is after we have dinner...
Glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving now lets all get busy and exercise... lol

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Black Friday will be a bright Friday for me as my kids will be flying home from DC and I get to pick them up around noonish, or so. The dogs and I had a quiet day here yesterday, walking about the yard, sitting by the pond, they chasing squeak toys around the yard, and me listening to old timey rock music on my MP3 player amplified over my sound system. All in all, a good day for me! I made myself some hamburger helper for my dinner, so no huge pile of pots and pans to clean up, no goodies, no overeating yesterday. However, tomorrow will be another thing!

I just got a call from Goog, and they are at the airport about to board their plane which will be on time, so I need to get dressed and play with the dogs before I prepare to head to the airport.

Hope you all have a wonderful Black Friday!

Happy travels!

Well, I'm still stuffed. The last minute Turkey day invite to DH's son's house turned out great. DIL decided she didn't want to cook, so Son did all the cooking. The turkey turned out to be one of the best. The breast was tender, juicy and moist. I never eat white meat, too dry. But this was amazing. All the other dishes too! And because both son and DIL don't like leftovers, my refrigerator is now full!!!

I now remember the things I like and don't like about TDay. I love having family and friends around eating, talking, watching the parade and football on TV !! I don't like the prep (a week of cleaning house and getting all the ingredients ready- while working full time and juggling schedule of 5 kids) or the cleanup. I really enjoyed going to someone else's house and don't feel guilty about someone else did all the work.

Don't plan on any shopping today. I'm going to take Tyler and hike some trails nearby that are suppose to be pretty. Have put it off for a couple years. But I found out their are some caches to find on the trail and I need to get this body moving or I'm gonna turn into an arthritic statue unable to move. Everyone have a great day and stay safe if you're on the road. Aloha y'all

Good morning all,
Had one of the most relaxing beautiful Thanksgiving Days ever! I don't recall having such a relaxing day in a very, very long time. Unseasonably warm (went up to high 60's) let us have open doors & windows. :D DIL & son fixed the meal - so I got to visit with youngest daughter, her boyfriend & his mom (we are BFF) for the morning. Baby brother, visiting from WA, came by to check out the van (he has lived on a boat for many, many years so can relate to the small quarters) & he definitely approved. He & other brother continue to encourage the long trip next August especially after seeing my 'travelin van'...

Thinking there might be something good about these new traditions... maybe it is time for the next generation to start carrying more of the load. :D  It's a little tough not being in control of it all, but wow, it sure was nice not being so tired at the end of the day & having time to breathe & enjoy the kids.

Didn't do the Christmas lights on the van yet but will tonight or tomorrow... BTW, found out passengers in the back can enjoy some wine, beer or whatever even while I'm driving - so I really do have a 'party van'!! Woohoo!

Ava, congrats on the big pay offs!! That's is quite an accomplishment & everyone's dream. And we do all know how much hard work & self-discipline goes into that! :D

Hope everyone stays safe & continues to enjoy this Thanksgiving weekend.

You were posting this while I was writing mine.... so, so true!!! :D :D :D We just need to relax enough to let it happen.

Met up with Soos on Weds at the Chinese buffet restaurant in town. Glad she is back in the area. Have to plan more fun things together. Got to meet the new dog before we left because her dogs were happily settled in their cages in the truck. They are so well behaved!

We are having great Thanksgiving weather, nice and cool, but not freezing cold like up north. Quick post before heading up to a SP in north Florida for a few days. Just do not want to sit at home listening to football and politics all weekend, which is all that's happening at my house. Although I usually travel with my sister, I have taken the travel trailer out camping several times by myself. However, I have never actually had to back it into a spot. I can easily back the van, it's the trailer that just does not always go where it should. I know this is a test. Hope I do not totally embarass myself or hit anything.

One of the best Thanksgiving dinners in a long time here at the park yesterday. Have to be thankful to ladies who spent their time cooking the turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy.

Moved the camper into the spot vacated by the 5er yesterday morning. Then it seemed to be a day of visiting so didn't accomplish much. I didn't even get the parade turned on!

The RZR ride today changed destination so I will stay home and continue in the camper. Definitely no shopping out here in the middle of nowhere!

Appears everyone made the best of yesterday no matter the situation! Change isn't always easy.

Hello everyone. :)

Yesterday was spent hanging with my cousins and then I assisted my aunt in grocery shopping. It's been YEARS since we spent any quality time together and we enjoyed it a lot. My mom has been gone for over a decade now and lots of things have happened that have made our once huge family, dwindle... so I think this rather mundane shopping trip was something more to us.

Today I'll assist her in cooking a Tday meal (she leaves the official Tday free so her boys can go to their in-laws). We'll see how it goes.

My cousin let us plug in and so we're having an easier time and not having to run the generator so often to keep the laptops going for my husband to work- yea, he worked all.day.long yesterday... but thankful he got to do it from home.

Hoping to get the grandbaby today to introduce her to my side of the family finally... we'll see. Hope all goes well.

Wishing everyone a great weekend.
Gena, traveling with her husband Russell and their "velcro dogs" Mike and Hazen.

Sounds like everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving Day. I went to relatives of my cousin and didn't have to do anything but enjoy! I was probably in my teens when I realized I wasn't really related to them, but I still feel as though I am. DH didn't feel up to going so I brought him a plate but forgot the dressing  I felt so bad. I have been hoping I wouldn't catch his cold but last night I felt the scratchy feeling start in my throat. Glad he is feeling a little better today!
It is sunny but not so warm as yesterday, when it got up to the high sixties. We had the windows open and it felt good. It may be awhile before the weather is nice enough for that again. I hadn't planned on going shopping today, I can't think of anything I would face those crowds for that won't wait!

Good morning ladies
I'm sure I gained a pound or two lately as my once loose and comfortable GV jeans were a little snug although I'd like to blame that on the dryer.
Dinner was fabulous and it wasn't the entire bloodline of relatives as in the past, it was just immediate relatives and X's. And of course the new baby.
Seems like daughter made it my job to make sure everyone washed their hands before handling the baby. :P
There was no drama, thank God for that, although there could have been but I know to keep my mouth shut, think its something I've learned as I've
aged into the wise old years. Yes, I was once a firey redhead, but I've been humbled over the last 10 years and mellowed out, (like fine wine) but Loreal
is still my friend.
Ok, no Black Friday shopping for me, that would make me crazy, probably turn that fine wine into vinegar. (see reference above) Speaking of wine, thats
the one thing I didn't have yesterday, guess because I was being responsible one minute with the baby and the next minute I was the pool watcher for
the little guys. However I did make myself a really tasty drink when I got home last night. A Brisk LemonTea from the pop machine mixed with ice and
spiced rum, yum yum, perfect flavor and I had TWO  Doctor says occasional holiday toast is ok for my liver. :D (I do take care of my liver ;) )
The girls slept in and just now got up for their breakfast, and back to bed they went. They didn't even bug me for attention, however they won't be happy
when I boot them out of the bed so I can strip it and wash the sheets. I'll give that a couple hours yet.
Off to read some posts, some blogs and a little more fb. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Happy Black Friday to those who partake....I've only partook once for my niece! Other than that, I'd rather be anywhere else! Before the advent of online shopping, catalogs were my best friend. Now online is my friend. I also buy interesting thing throughout the year without knowing who will be getting what.

Today is full of housecleaning and laundry after the car goes to the dealership for a look-see...after a quick hitting of the grocery store to get some ingredients to add to the soup pot into which I'm gonna toss the turkey carcass. It is cool and foggy here in SoCal, so soup sounds really good, doesn't it? But as I sit here and watch the news, they say it will be getting up to nearly 80 downtown...luckily it is cooler here nearer the beaches.

Got a book recommendation for y'all: "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed. Its about her hike up the Pacific Crest Trail. Good read...insightful, entertaining, and thought provoking. For those of us who love travel, I think it is especially good as we may appreciate the beauty she describes as she hikes from the Mojave Desert up to the WA-OR border. She was a really brave gal!

Well, it is nearly 0900 here, so I got to get to get moving...have a great Friday!
