Why is this crazy dog barking at 3:15AM for the last 3 days???  He does this until one of us (usually, me) is up....then he's back sleeping on the couch & I'm wide awake with the coffee and the laptop.... :? So my new "wake up time" is now 4am....I'll grab a quick nap after Ernie's up.... ;) And before my Nephew & Niece-in-law arrive...

Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving....Enjoy the day...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Well Lori, whatever was outside the 5er at 3:15 was outside our house at 5:10. Radar was barking her head off at the patio door. She's done a complete sniffing tour of the backyard, came in the house and jumped in bed....arghhhh...and she'll be able to go right back to sleep.

Good morning all,
Retrieved the van. :D :D Feel like I have one of my kids back home. So happy to have it in the driveway! Thinking about decorating it with lights & using it as a limo to drive the family to the Plaza lighting ceremony tonight = may become a new tradition. :?
DIL decided to host dinner at their house today - I'm supplying gravy :D I'll do a bigger dinner on Saturday when older daughter & granddaughters arrive.
Dog is whining - already been out... must want some of the turkey that cooked over night.
Time to kick into gear - get the coffee on, kitchen cleaned up & see what I've got to feed the kids for breakfast.

I'm thankful for each of you - for your openness to share your lives & your friendship to anyone who comes to this forum. ;)

Hope you each have a good Thanksgiving day... Maybe we can meet up for left-overs & dessert later on

Good Morning everyone,

I"m sure that most of us are going to be very busy if not already, before too long. For others it will be just a day to sit and relax and count the blessings.

My dogs too have been driving me nuts. Yesterday it was "let the dog in, let the dog out, let the dog in..." And they were barking at who knows what too. Must be someithing in the atmosphere, the energy or something. Or the food I have them on right now. Sassy seems to be more restless than Tessa. Back to the food research.

Fixins for dinner are pretty much all set here. Just need to put the bird in the oven in a couple of hours, candy the sweet potatoes, fix up the brocollie cassarole and throw in in the oven. We nixed the mashed potatoes as we decied we dind't :) want to potato dishes. Cranberry salad is all set, jello salad is all set. So kitchen time will be limited today :) Early dinner planned here, so my friends can hit the road to northern WI.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Enjoy, remember those who are no longer able to be with us physically but are still in spirit and give thanks for having had them in our lives and also for the many blessings we have received, one of which is the great forum. "This is the day the Lord has made, let us give thanks and rejoice".

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you!

Sorry for the barking dogs so early in the morning. And the shame of it is, they can go right back to sleep once they know we've gotten up for them.

I just got back from my friends house from letting the dogs out and feeding her menagerie while she and her hubby are in Canada for the Grey Cup. It's an easy task plus she takes care of our house when we're out of town.

The turkey will come out of the brine later on and will go in the oven and then everything else will be cooked. There will be plenty for everyone, so if you're in the area, please stop by.

All three of my dogs are still asleep. Since it is Thanksgiving, I decided to let them sleep until they wake up on their own. As usual, I was awake just after 5. I enjoy my early mornings. It is my quiet time of the day. I will be getting started in the kitchen shortly. I normally cook a turkey at least 22 lbs. so since this one is only 12 lbs. I don't have to have it in the oven as soon. I didn't get my cornbread made last night, so need to make a small pan this morning for my dressing. Going to enjoy a cup of coffee first. Just using a box of Jiffy mix instead of from scratch. That's a first for me. I remember a big family dinner at Chuck's parent's house when the kids were little. Someone had made cornbread. My DD came to me to let me know the cornbread just wasn't good and didn't taste right. I had to shush her. The cornbread that day was from a box and the girls had never had it made that way. I was so embarrassed since I did not know who had made the cornbread was afraid someone had heard her and got their feelings hurt. Like Mom said last night, this year I don't have to make a big roasting pan full of dressing. A small pan will be just fine. Not sure I know how to make a Thanksgiving Dinner for less than 20 people. Gonna give it a try. Anyone in this area is more than welcome to drop in. Planning on eating about 1:00. I am procrastinating I know. I am not excited about cooking today. Normally I would have had my bird in the oven about 4 this morning.

Belle is coming out from under the covers, so figure we will all be going out in a few minutes. Nope, she has settled back down into the pillows and now back asleep. Going to get another cup of coffee.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am giving thanks today for all of you and my family who have helped me get through every day.

good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to you all
Been stressing over going to the "(disfunctional)family" dinner as ALL will be there this year to welcome the new addition. Every year I tell
myself this is the last year I'm going to join them and this year is no different. I honestly hope to be somewhere else next year. However,
I am thankful for alot of things, for everything I have and particularly for all you ladies as you make my life more enjoyable with something
to look forward to. With that said, don't eat yourselves sick today. Had Thanksgiving dinner at work yesterday, and it was fabulous, lots of
friends and good company, some retirees that came back to visit and I DIDN"T eat myself sick. Will try and do the same today.
Can't help but think about the soldiers today as I am thankful for them too.

Good news from the homefront, got the payoff for the rv, Nov, Dec, and January...and its MINE!! Whoop whoop and the car is the same...
Dec and January and its MINE too :D Looks like my February birthday will hold a special celebration as I'll be debt free a year early. (not
counting the debt I incurred the two years the school district took a dive with the budget that severely hurt me financially) Those are
spoiled debts and they will be paid but I'm not under the microscope for those. I'll get those paid one at a time over this next year so by
the time I DO retire, I WILL be 100% debt free including the red.

The girls have been fed and have gone back to bed and I see Gracie continues to clean her dish, its a new thing since I changed her food.
She's into the second bag and still cleaning up. Maybe the little skinny dog will actually gain some weight. :P
Time for a coffee refill and gotta think about getting started on my hair. Enjoy your day and those on the road be extra safe as Thanksgiving
day is the most dangerous day of the year to be on the road.

Happy Thanksgiving all! May you all have your wishes fulfilled today as well as having your tummies full of good stuffing, turkey, pumpkin, taters, and cranberries...or whatever is on your family table today!

Sorry about the early rising dogs...one day I will have a dog. But for now, after your stories, I'm grateful for the feline girls who don't get me up early. But once they hear my eyelids open, all bets are off.

Not sure why I am up so darned early, but the coffee is good! Prolly a nap in my future!

ENJOY THIS DAY OF GIVING THANKS!

Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Ah the early morning wake up call, Winnie waited until 5:00AM to wake me, bless her! Sometimes I wonder how long I would sleep without my little four legged alarm clocks.

DH's cold is a little better, he had his iPad out yesterday and watched TV for awhile instead of sleeping all day. He is seldom sick but this has really knocked him off his feet. I haven't decided if I'll go to the Thanksgiving dinner alone or stay home with him. I found a recipe yesterday I thought sounded easy for Cheesy Little Meat Loafs to make for today in case we did both stay home.HA! After an hour and a half in the kitchen getting them ready :( :( I burned them. I threw the bigger muffin tin out!! So much for the non-stick when you burn a ketchup/brown sugar mixture. This was after I had made two loaves of bread that refused to rise. I have been baking bread in my little Dinner for Two bread machine for years and suddenly it's hit or miss. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong to suddenly have so many failures.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Sunny and a bit cool for St. Cloud this morning, but a very pretty Thanksgiving day all in all.

I awakened to the rancher brothers whose property surrounds this space talking near their gate to their place. I walked over with the dogs, and noticed there was no gate any more. They asked me if I had heard anything last night, as someone in the wee hours of this morning (as best as they can figure it as their huge guard dog was cauing a scene at their place at about 4 am) crashed through the locked gate about 25 yeards from my trailer! The gate had been pushed way down the road, ripped off its hinges and the lock torn off the steel pipe holding it. I cannot believe I slept through that, but I guess I did, and so did the dogs as they didn't bark at all that I remember. Apparently nothing was stolen from the ranchers, and the cops who came to investigate said they could find no evidence whatsoever----not even any paint on the gate that was trashed. And apparently I am a much heavier sleeper than I ever believed I was! It's sort of scary and I wish they could apprehend the gate crashers, but chances are they will never know who did it. Guess I had better keep things locked up here when I am awayfrom now on. Goog and Melissa will not be happy to hear of this when I pick them up tomorrow at the airport. Many of you had barking dogs early on today----what's up with mine sleeping right through a gate crasher?? :)

I bought all the fixins for a Thanksgiving feast yesterday, and will cook it all on Saturday for the three of us----turkey, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, snacks, and pumpkin pie for dessert.

I had a great dinner last night at an Asian buffet place with Linann----Linda! I was great to see her again! The food was good, and so was the company. I will admit that finding the place after dark on busy route 192 in St. Cloud was no piece of cake, and I had many nasty words coming out of my mouth before I found the place! Then, as it was on the other side of that busy divided highway, I had to go to the next town before I could turn around and get back to it! those little marked off U-turn places are not big enough for my truck, and the traffic had no spaces in the lines for me use one of those. Had to find a stoplight, and that was miles down the road! But I am glad I went, and it was a fun time!

I hope you all will have a feast somewhere today, with or without family, as I will----I plan to make me some hamburger helper stuff, have a glass or two of a vodka fruit drink, kick back and play with the dogs! Oh yes....I will listen to my recording of Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie, too, as that has become quite the Thanksgiving record for years now!

BJ, sorry about your cooking mishaps! The meatloafs sounded good to me.

My morning duties just got easier. I called my brother and he already took care of the mashed potatoes and veggies, so all I need to do is bake the apple pie which is now in the oven. Then I will do the gravy when I get to his house.

It is another beautiful day! It has been in the low 60's and sunny for the past week. However, tomorrow and the next week will be a different story! Highs only around 30 all week! Will be cold and blustery for the Black Friday shoppers. I am working all weekend, so I don't care.

Happy Turkey Day!
