Chilly Saturday morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly Saturday morning

Postby Colliemom » Sat Oct 27, 2012 6:32 am

Good Morning all,

Rather chilly here at the 45th this morning. In the upper 20's. Supposed to go into mid 40's but be nice. Good working outside weather. No sweat, no bugs etc. Have to laugh at all the reports comng in from all of us who are in the colder air now. For awhile everybody was sweltering in the hot summer weather and now are all freezing in the colder air. No happy medium here

Am not laughing though when I watch the latest on Sandy. That is going ot be an unbelieveable storm. I and I'm sure all the rst of us on the site are going to worry about all our sisters who are going to be impacted by this storm. We know that you are taking precautions and will be prepared for the unknown, but when you are able, please let us know how you are doing. Some of you may lose power and will not be able to be online, so we will worry till we hear from you. It is even expected to impact us here in MI as well, with some wnd, snow and rain, but nothing compared to the east coast. It has me getting my winter preparations moving as well, checking my batteries, stocking up my bottled water and those things I normally do before winter anyway. We very rarely lose power here and if we do, it's usually for an hour or so cause somebody hit a pole or a tree fell or something. But my old Girl Scout motto "be prepared" still holds true for me.

Barbie, congrats on the new wheels. Red, was it you who just got the new recliners? They look so sharp in that rig. Judy, I can't believe that pretty soon you are going to be heading back north for some holiday GTG with family and then south for FL. Seems like we were just sitting on the beach up here in MI last summer. But I can see you are enjoying your travels so far and that it seems to be working out for you. Haven't heard from Irmi and Steve of late. Hope all is well with them although they are in the path of the storm.

Well, guess it's going to be a work outside day here today. Need to finish blowing some leaves and then burlap my shrubs. Get this done before the crappy weather hits on Tuesday-Thursday. First thing is run to town as I need a couple of things from store and more oil for my leaf blower. But gotta wait for daylight. A week from tomorrow is change of Daylight Savings Time again.

So, with that, I am going to head on out of here and do some reading of other threads. Will be watching Sandy and praying for the safety of all those affected. And a week before a national election day too. Bad timing. For thhose of you who don't have to worry about this storm, have a nice day and those on the road, keep safe and happy travels.

Good morning everyone. We are finally having a Fall!! Got down to 45 during the night and highs will be in the 50s today. Wonderful!! I'd be out walking with Tyler, except I'm still not moving very well. Stitches pull and hurt when I move, sit, walk. Wearing pants is out of the question. So I'm pretty much staying down with my personal ice packs. :x

Watching the storm Sandy. My cousin in Jacksonville is getting a lot of weather. Can't get hold of my aunt in St. Augustine, she may have lost power. Praying that our sistahs in the path of this monster storm stay safe!

Off to the kitchen too see what I can find. Definitely a hot breakfast and hot coffee!! Everyone stay safe and warm :P

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, you're a lot cooler than we are but I know you're used to the cooler temperatures this time of the year.

We are still in a campground in NC and we're going to sit here until Sandy has come & gone from here and we're going to remain here until our area of MD is clear of the storm. Right now as I type, Sandy has been downgraded to a tropical storm but could gain strength as it heads north and could turn back into a category 1 storm. Friends that have our house key moved our vehicles onto the highest portion of our yard yesterday. One of our cars had a battery switch installed on it last year after it was flooded in Irene, so I talked him through how to locate the switch and start that car. They also moved some things in the house off the floor downstairs in case of flooding. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't have too much damage when we get home and hope everyone else in the path of the storm stays safe.

It's quite mild here in NC with the temperatures in the 60's and the winds are mild. It's still dry out so hopefully we'll be able to spend a good portion of the morning outside. Later in the day, we'll have to stay inside but have plenty of things to do to keep our minds occupied.

I hope everyone traveling, visiting with each other, staying home, or doing whatever you are doing, are alright and staying well. Please take care, stay safe and have a good day.

Good morning all,
Don't usually get to 'chat' early in the morning, but love reading what everyone is up to in the evening.
Have my coffee & was happy to hear the furnace come on before I got out from under the covers. :)
Temps are in the upper 20's here in KS. Glad I winterized my van last Sunday when it was in the 80's. Wasn't as tough as I thought it would be & really glad I didn't pay the $100 one RV place wanted to do it. Just need to pull my coach batteries out - if I can figure out how ... :D
Red, love the new recliners & thanks for the health info - I'm one of those who hate going to the dr regularly, so this was a good reminder to 'just do it' - hope the pain eases soon & results are negative. Barbie, the Jeep looks great - I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Donna, good to hear that you made it through - hope the damage is minor. Dawn, got to see your blogs - great pics - thanks for sharing them with us 'stay at home moms'. Nancy, the best way to deal with these smart phones is to have a young friend  - whenever I upgrade my phone, my dear young friend & I get together & she sets it up for me - explaining as she goes... I love all they can do but I know I don't use it to its full capability - accepting a call while I'm on another call is still a challenge to me. ;)
Well, better get moving... need to work on getting the basement cleared out so I can move 'stuff' from the garage down there to make room in the garage for my youngest daughter's 'stuff' when she graduates... :) Guess this is one reason to full-time - would force the kids to get their 'stuff'  or maybe I should just get a storage unit for it all :(
Prayers that everyone stays safe...

Brrrrr! Really cold here in Greenville! It was supposed to get down to 38 last nite. Don't know if it did, but I had the heater set on 50 and heard it come on several times. The Samcat, Chewy and I were warm snuggled under the down comforter. Chewy doesn't seem to get as cold now that we have her Thyroid regulated so that's a good thing. Sam stuck his nose out the door this morning and backpeddaled up the stairs, decided he didn't need to go outside as much as he thought.

Had a great day with my cousin yesterday, actually she's my 2nd cousin on my mother's side, and since we didn't see much of that side of the family when I was growing up it's fun to hear stories about my grandma and her family. Weather was sucky, cold, wet and windy, so we took a road trip to Jefferson to renew my stash of Blackburns sugar free pancake syrup. Last year we walked the town to see all of the old buildings. This year we drove around and looked at the old houses. We went back to the same restaurant that we had had the great hamburgers and apple pie at. Last year I thought it was possibly the best HB I had had at an eatery, but after the one in Warm Springs, Ga, it's been downgraded to number 2. But it was still good, great coffee and apple pecan pie. Paula worked for years as the nurse assigned to a Federal licensing team and she had been in most of the hospitals and nursing homes in all of that area....some great stories and of course I shared some of my stories of working with the teams where I worked.

Today is laundry and cleaning, getting ready to move down to Ft. Worth tomorrow for 3 days before I head to Potters Creek for the big GTG there. I can't believe that my summer odyssey is almost over and I'll be home in about 2 weeks. I've had such fun!!

Hope Soos and Irmi and those in the path of the "Perfect Storm" will weather it ok, sounds like it's going to be a bad one. We can always hope that Sandy dies down enough that it won't be as bad as they think.

Good Morning to All from just west of Oklahoma City. Still pretty cool out. Did more miles then we planned on yesterday - just done this route too many times I guess. Though we did have a new experience going through Oklahoma City on the turnpike. Not taking it again. Ever.
Still heading west not south - Amarillo in our sites for today - or maybe further.
Everyone in storms path - stay safe.
Oops he is ready to get on the road. Bye for now.

In the low 30's here this morning brrrr. I have to find either a heated storage spot or get Elsie winterized this week. I thought I had found one but then nephew measured and I'm 9'2" and needed to be under nine feet so...search goes on.
I hope you feel better soon Red that must hurt a lot!! Sharon glad to hear your 'vacation' has gone so well. All in the path of the storm take good care.
I got an all clear yesterday from doctor re all the UTI's I've been dealing with since around the time of the Crossville GTG. I went to a Urologist in STL that specializes in women's care, he was fantastic. There are nine urology doctors at this clinic,I had two procedures that were done right in the same office area and I was there less than 20 minutes. No waiting, the appointments are right on time or a bit early! He told me the results of the ultra sound and then he did a procedure with a little camera that took less than 2 minutes and pronounced I should respond to treatment as all looked normal. What a relief!!!
Guess I'd better get my second breakfast before the little ones start wanting theirs. I'm waiting till it warms up a bit to go to the Farmers Market!

Good Morning,

A cool, cloudy 50F here in the Butte this morning. It should warm up to 69-70F today. Yeah!

Slow moving this morining. I wanted to sleep in, but as usual, up before 7. :( I have had coffee and breakfast.

Slowly getting ready for a GTG in Texas next week. I need to check my RV tire pressure and battery when it warms up. I will get the grocery shopping done this afternoon or tomorrow.

I pray our east coast friends are safe from the weather.

Have a great day and safe travels.

Good morning all!

I'm busy baking cupcakes for the Phantoms of the Forest Storytelling event here at Silver River State Park tonight. Then I will bake a lemon meringue pie for covered dish dinner at church tomorrow. Oven is getting a workout today.

Irmi, I am glad to see you are not physically in harm's way of Sandy. I sure pray your property suffers no damage or flooding too. I wonder about Pauline out that way too.

Donna, I'm glad you were spared by the storm. You should put some water in your fresh water tank and practice using your systems while you are out on your day trips. Use the toilet, test out the hot water heater to wash dishes, run the generator and use the microwave while it is on, or the AC, but not both at the same time. When your holding tanks start getting full, then practice dumping. You should be able to find a place near you at a cg or Flying J.

BJ, glad you got good news from the dr. about the UTIs.

Other than breezy, our weather should be good today.

Good morning all!

Red, hate it that you are so uncomfortable. I am definitely praying for good news for you.

Liz, all that baking sounds good!

Going to be working on my menu plan for grocery list for the TX GTG today. That usually takes me a while because I like to look at lots of recipes before I decide. Also rotate through beef, poultry, seafood and pork recipes. Gives lots of variety and keeps the red meat consumption down. I think I am going to start adding a meatless day to my meal plans. Will probably be after the GTG though. Also will be looking at a couple dessert recipes to make too. I need to go look at what all I need for the dessert Barb Zeee volunteered me to make for the GTG. That was more a breakfast recipe, if I remember right. Kind of a cinnamon roll recipe. Promised Red some seafood chowder too. Looks like part of my meal plan is taking care of itself.  Will do my grocery shopping on Monday as we are leaving here on Tuesday for Canyon Lake.

Time for me to go get dressed and make another cup of coffee. Hope everyone has a great day and if traveling, stay safe. Especially in the path of Sandy.

Just a quick "Good Morning" as I have to pack up Magic and go home. It is chilly here this AM too, feels worse because it is also windy.
A sad morning as I had to say good bye to Tina until we meet again in FL. It was so wonderful having her here this past week. Just hope she wasn't too bored as I had not planned anything. At least the weather was near perfect all week.
Red, hope you get a good report soon.
Better get moving. Seems the only thing I have perfected in my retirement years is procrastination .
Wishing all a great day.

hark, I heard my name mentioned. Oh my gosh ! It was Ms Dawn :o

Yep peers I done volunteered ya. Cause I know how much you love to do these goodies. But boy I sure wish I could have gone. :)

Well last night my hubby had to go to the E R room as hew was having really bad pain in his lower right side. It had started a day ago but wasn't that bad (so he sats). But at the office as the day progressed so did his pain. He called me around 5 pm as he was heading in. Sooooooo it was a long time before I heard from him. Of course you know me in Florida and he in Pa doesn't help the mind or the heart!

I'm not really sure that evening what time he got back to me as I was chatting with Dawn letting her know what was going on. But the hospital did blood work and an I V P cat scan and showed nothing. But they did tell him that if the pain continues to come back. His white count was alright but he's been on an antibiotic for a sinus infection.

Needless to say my brain went into over drive as I though, "ok, I'll load the car and drive up". But I'd be driving also into Sandy Dandy. Heck my night was lots of what ifs. So as of right now hubby is resting and if he has another episode I told him call 911 don't attempt to drive yourself. But we all know how men can be......

I'm crossing my fingers that all of you in the path of Sandy stay safe and I'm gonna check and see how Paulette is doing since not having my lap top yet some of my resources are limited. I did get my router fixed so now I have my own air ways.

Red keeping you in my prays and I know we are all anxious to hear your results.

BJ. Glad to hears yours was a good report too..

Lizzie when you can come on down to visit. We are not that far away. Ya hear :)

Ok I'm having a little trouble scrolling. To read everything. Might be my slopping fingers. LoL

Irmi. Praying all will be ok for you too. Hang in and batten down them hatches.

Need to let critters out. So all stay safe and God Bless
