Am I really first today?? Everyone must be busy this morning! We had a storm go thru last night so it is cooler and cloudy so far today. No complaints.
I don't go to work until later this afternoon so am just hanging out in bed for awhile. I saw a really nice wicker table and chairs yesterday at a thrift store and hemmed and hawed about buying it. Now I decided I want it, so I need to call them when they open and see if it is still there, and if so, run over and pick it up.
Dawn, all my kitchen stuff is red too! I love it!
Three of the cats here are being fostered for a friend of my roommates who is currently unemployed and homeless. Now my roommate says the lady doesn't want them back so will be looking for new homes for them. I have fallen in love with one of them and I think he would be perfect for my dad, so I need to work on convincing my dad to take in another "needy" cat (his cat died a month ago).
Hope you all have a good one today!

Good morning everyone. I'm having coffee and watching the plans fly over spraying the Mosquitoes. Yes, I live in the area that has a high count of mosquitoes that tested positive for West Nile virus. High count of deaths from said virus
This is the same area that was flooded earlier this summer. Before coming to TX I had never heard of this virus. Now, I'm covered from head to toe, drenched in DEET searching our 3 acres for standing water. Does the pond count??
Hope everyone has a good day and stay safe if you are traveling, moving, having garage sales or making cookies

Leaving tomorrow, hopefully, if steps are in. Because this is my last day in Napa, I am taking the day off from childcare and picking up and dropping off kids at school. They have a babysitter arranged for, so I am going to do some touristy things here, which I almost never get a chance to do when I stay with my son and his family.
So this morning, I am going downtown to the riverfront area and walking around all the nice, new stores and restaurants that have grown up in the last 5 years. Probably won't buy anything, but want to look around and also go see a nearby market that is supposed to be interesting.
Then once the fog lifts and it warms up a bit (it is 53 right now and cloudy from the fog), I want to ride my bike into Yountville, which is a really neat little town just three miles down the road from my son's house. It has one of the most famous restaurants in the world--The French Laundry. Fixed price meals are at least $200 per person and require six months reservations, so obviously I will not be eating lunch there! There are a lot of nice little shops, however, and I may buy something. There is also a small museum I may try to visit, but it is slightly uphill and on the other side of the highway, so we will see. It should be warm and sunny by 11:00 am. Will take some photos and post them.
Hope everyone has a good day today.

Not a good way to start a day,...yesterday as I got out of the shower I heard DH exclaim, what have you been into Andy? I opened the door to see a lot of blue on the white tile and Andy sitting there with an innocent look on his face and a bright blue foot. I couldn't imagine what it was at first. Then I looked at at the floor in DH's study where he paints. He had apparently dropped a blob of his blue acrylic paint, then both he and the dog had managed to track it around, I'm still finding spots this morning. Andy wasn't happy about an promptitude foot wash!
My van is having a check up this morning, I missed the suggested sixty thousand mile maintenance and I'm hearing the cash register clanging. I really like my van and plan to keep it awhile, it is an 05 Toyota Sienna and I'm not quite at seventy thousand miles. It has been really reliable so trying to keep it that way!
Hope everyone is having a good day.

My kitchen counter is black so I went with red too. I had a red toaster and coffee maker but the coffee maker went out. I couldn't find another red one when I was looking.
I'm afraid my cats would do a number on wicker furniture. We have all kinds of trees and scratching posts but they prefer the furniture. I need to check for some of the cardboard scratcher refills. They have really shredded the ones we have.
I think they must spray for mosquitoes almost year round here. I need to walk around and check for anything that could hold water. I hope the fish in the ponds eat them. I have gold fish in the water troughs.
Watching the new tropical storm. One report will have it going to Florida and the next it will be going more West. I would like for it to fizzle out. If it goes to the West it might break up our mini GTG next week. Karen probably had damage from Ike too and I'm sure Sharon doesn't want to experience a hurricane.
I have an appointment to bring my 2 cats in the morning. I probably need to set 2 alarm clocks because I'm not use to getting up at 5:30. It will take me a little over an hour to get to the clinic with the morning traffic. Hope I can find them this afternoon to put them in a cage. It's too hot to cage them until late this afternoon. Then I have to pick them up between 2 and 3. Not really worth coming home and going back so guess I will have to go shopping. Darn.

I have the red Hamilton Beach. The lid broke real quick, just like the reviewers said, and I was being VERY careful because of those reviews!

FINALLY worked up the nerve to clean up G's linen tower...and now it really contains linens and not meds.
Doc changed my anti-depressant yesterday, so hopefully I can put this Pity Party behind me. It's been 7 months and 3 weeks...time to move on. (easier said than done, however.)
Any experience or comments about Pristiq?
Maybe in a few days, I'll feel like picking on Vickie again...

I wish my linen closet looked that neat. I'm not taking any pictures. Of course it could be over stuffed. In my old house I had a closet and a cabinet and all that wouldn't fit here. How many towels do you really need anyway.
Hope you get to feeling better so you can keep Vickie in line.

And Mitch there is no magic timeline for the grieving process. Go at it at your own pace.

Mitch, Maggie is right. There is no timeline. I am still taking the anti-depressants and figure I will for a while. I burst into tears today telling Matt that his guys could have all our fishing poles and tackle boxes. I have thought about it and fishing was something we enjoyed doing together so much. I just cannot face the thought of fishing without Chuck. Even when he was really bad, I would help him into the boat at the marina and we would fish off the back of the boat. He would normally fall asleep within a few minutes. We never really caught anything these times, but he got to get out of the house.
You just do what feels right for you each day. I am proud of your new linen closet, even if it does have toothpaste in the drawer.
