Good Morning everyone,
I've been absent from teh scene here for a few days. Been busy. You know how it goes in summer. Between work and doing other things, the days fly by. It's a muggy morning here at the 45th. The heat wave that is spreading across the cuontry is now working it's way in here. We like Soos, have been blessed with nice comfty temps and weather this past week, but now it's changing. 90's predicted for today and rest of week for most part with 100's possible south of here. I can remember a day when 90 was a rarity in northern Michigam much less the U.P. and A/C was as well. Was watching the news last night where they were saying that this is definite climate change and places that have never experienced this type of weather extremes will be doing it now. So Soos, I think you had better enjoy your Daks weather right now, cause this may also work it's way to you. I"m not looking forward to heading tnto work later this morning either. Am working an 11-7:30 shift today and tomorrow.
My friend Brenda and her sister, who is up here for the week, went up to Munising in the U.P. on Monday and spent part of the afternoon on a boat tour of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We had absolutely beautiful weather although it was hot. Didn't get home till 1:30 that night. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me due to it slippling off my belt before I left home and I didn't realize it. But I will have pictures to post complements of Brenda shortly. I'm glad we went when we did as we had sme severe weather the next morning with a lightning storm that was quite a show. MOther Nature outdid any fireworks display that man can do for sure. Some of the flashes were blinding and it was already getting daylight.
Maggie, from the looks of the long range forecast, we are supposed to go back to the more normal highs of upper 70's-low 80's by next week, so you should have pleasant weather I hope.
So just wanted to check in and say hi this morning. Am off to check other threads and see what's new on the forum. Playing catch up. Brenda installed some anti virus/malware/spyware etc. software to my computer yesterday and it really cleaned it up and it's running much faster, but my print is now so small that I can barely read it. Haven't been able to get it to enlarge yet despite resetting the settings. Have a wonderful day all.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY 2012!
We all attended Joe's nieces' (one turned four and the other turned 14) birthday party last night at his mom's house where we had yummy food and a pool for swimming! I had Orion in the pool for along time, and I know he could swim right now if I dared to let him go---he had no flotation thingy on, so thought better of having him submerge and come up, even though I used to take Mandy to an infant pool class where we did just that. I am getting more anxious about such activities as I my brain gets older!
I got my own little pool partly filled yesterday, and will work on adding water to it all day today. It is a much more practical size circumference-wise than my last pool here, and just about as high in depth, I believe. I just hope I managed to get it leveled off enough to not have it bulge in one direction or another, as the stress on the seams could prove to be disastrous! It took me hours to move it around and level it.
The kids have to go home for a few weeks today, and it will be lonely here again. But I will be over in VT for a week next, so that will take up some time. Hope we have good weather over there. I need to get two sheets of thin plywood at the lumber store in town this week to make a pad for driving on when I return and try to park. This trying to hit the right spot on boards that are now falling apart is getting old and ridiculous. I have the old trailer on such a pad, and it's so much easier than this area.
Time to get moving here---Happy Fourth to all.

Happy Birthday America!
So glad to hear you all still in the upper parts of the states still have bearable weather even though a heat wave is heading your way. Hopefully it won't last long.
Didn't get any packing done yesterday. Barb Zeee was a bad influence
We were on FB yesterday morning, talking about her new iPhone, and I told her I was going to check to find out when I was eligible for next upgrade. Turns out I was eligible for iPhone 4S for $149. Had been $649, so I did the upgrade. Then we looked at new iPads. They were still too many $$ for me at this point. We will be learning how to use Siri together. Wish she had Skype since I learn better visually. If she gets iPad2, she'll be able to Skype with it. That'll be fun. I am going to have to stay away from FB today until I get my chores done today
If anyone knows, I need to know what kind of decor Echo likes for her kitchen/dining area. Some people like me like Roosters others like Apples, Cafe O'Lait, tea pots, fruit, wine bottles and grapes, etc. Working on something for her and just need a direction to go. If no one knows, I will just go with what strikes my fancy.
Everyone have a fantastic 4th and if you are traveling, stay safe.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!
We both have today off from work and we have no idea what we are going to do today! Both of us need to do laundry so will be hitting the laundromat for sure. At least the laundromat is air conditioned so it wont be to bad there and going rather early just maybe it wont be to crowded either. After that? We did talk about going to Splash Country which is Dollywoods water park but I totally forgot that it was the 4th today. Have no idea what attendance would be like today at the water park and if it would be mobbed or not? Not liking the idea of a mobbed water park! ICK!!! So we will just have to talk it over and make up our minds as to what we are gonna do today. Maybe we will just sit on our butts and veg out?
It's gonna be another really warm one so if we don't go to the water park I have no idea what we will get up to.It's 77 right now at 10am, suppose to go to 93 with a 30% chance of a thunder storm. Sure will be glad when these temps go down to the high 80's again! HA! Never thought I would be saying that I would be glad of the high 80's for temps but these 90 degree days are awful not to even mention days in the 100's.
OK, gonna go check out what ya'll have been up to. Hope ya'll have a great day and that the 4th of July treats ya good. Whatever your doing today be safe and have fun.
Love to all

What are you doing????
The only things I've ever collected have been frogs, bells and dragons. Tho I do find I have a problem with picking up rocks that strike my fancy. I have gotten rid of all my collections cause of space and weight constraints. My Mom was chotchkie (sp) happy and I got the blasted job of making sure they were all dusted. OH GOODNESS!! She had 2 china cabinets full of salt and pepper sets and they also sat around on end tables and selves. She was also into roosters, hens and geese but at least when she got into the goose craze I no longer lived at home so didn't have to dust! GADS, I hate to dust!!! She also did the fake fruit and veggie thing for awhile too. So nope I don't do any of that now! I'm really surprised that I did my collections at all. I do still have a couple of frogs left, 4 dragons that the kids bought for me for christmas and a couple of rocks that to me are fascinating. One is about fist sized with hole in it and in the holes you can see that inside the rock are crystals.
About the only thing that I am gonna be looking for is a few Pink Flamingos for decoration. Need a couple of those plastic ones for outside.
And I will get them.

Morning ladies! And yes it's still morning in the middle of the country!
Happy 4th of July!
Sue - I am so glad that temps are supposed to be more normal next week. I'm trying to escape the heat not fly into it!!! I will be so ready for this vacation. Although now I'm really conflicted. Mark's grandmother passed away last night. Today would have been her 97th birthday. She fell and broke her hip Tuesday night. She was conscious when she got to the hospital and told the doctors she did not want to be in pain. So they were keeping her heavily medicated. Anyway, they are going to try for a memorial service next weekend and I will still be in Charlevoix with all of my family. My sister is flying up to meet us there.
But I'm not going anywhere if I don't get this stupid paper finished and an exam taken by Friday night - arghh! I will be so glad to finish but after next week, I'm not sure I will know what to do with myself outside of work.

Happy 4th everyone. Yes, it is still morning in the West. We are still in Vegas. Went touring yesterday, saw Blue Man Group (was soooo much fun) and early dinner. Then Husband went to play poker till 4 am. I walked down the strip and watched the fountains at Bellagio, then walked to our hotel. I don't want to whine or sound like I'm complaining, but I don't like Vegas. Specially I don't like spending the evenings alone.
I will watch all the fireworks from the top of the Rio hotel tonight. I love fireworks and there will be about 6 shows simultaneously in the valley.
Have a wonderful and safe 4th everyone.

Another cool morning here in San Diego! You all need to head out here for a break!
After paying bills yesterday, I headed to the Fair. It was really crowded but had fun. It was $2.00 sample day at the food booths. Each vendor had one item for $2 bucks, so I hit lots of them and got a good sampling of all sorts of food for cheap! Just can't justify spending $8 on something in case I don't like it or get too full to finish it.
Did a little shopping but didn't want to spend much money on that stuff either. Did buy a special brush for my cat, since she is getting matts on her bib and under her arms that are tough to get out. I tried it out last night and it works great! Will finish brushing her outside today. She loved it too!
Today I need to stay home and do laundry and clean my room. Not sure if I will go anywhere tonight for fireworks. Then back to the sweatshop tomorrow!
Sarah, so sorry about the antique mall fire! What a shame. Hope you can retrieve some stuff from there. Is it insured at all?
Stay cool and dry gals!

If I type fast it'll still be before noon in Alaska. Peaches and I have had a long, long walk and then been to visit Fred and Megan (Captain and his wife). Peaches would move over with Megan during the days if I let her. But she has her 2 dogs and the office to run - doesn't need a third underfoot.
Yesterday I finally made that easy bread - and it turned out ok. Not marvelous, but better than I expected. I used a different bread mix than the recipe calls for, and had to cook a tad longer - but shared it with 3 other people, who all liked it. I think it would be better toasted - but I also realized I didn't like it warm - which is why I thought at first I didn't like it at all. Today I'm going to experiment a little, and add garlic to the mix - maybe some onion powder if I have it - see if I can make it flavorful. Megan will again get to be a taste tester. For taste testing yesterday, she then brought me a large piece of pie. Yummy.
There are booths set up in town - Peaches and I watched some being set up and later I'll go check them all out better. You never know what might strike my fancy - thinking I'll get a funnel cake.
Fireworks here about 11 pm.

Not morning any longer but wanted to wish all a HAPPY 4th! Hope you have something fun going on today.
I did decide to go to the cook out last evening and glad I did. It is an annual event held in Harvest, a small community on the NW edge of Huntsville. This actually started decades ago as a family reunion (not my family) and has grown over the years to include just about anyone who wants to attend. The hosts families provide and cook all the meats; those others who show up bring a dish of some sort. Food is always plentiful and there is a live local band (good but way too loud for my liking). Since it was still in the 90s at 6:30 last night and humidity near 80%, didn't take long before I didn't have a dry thread on me. Couple of hours was all I could handle.
Dealers still cannot get into mall where the fire was but last night's news said the damage from fire was minimal - it is water and smoke damage to contents that are of greatest concern. No, Barbie, no insurance.
I did buy gas at $2.95 yesterday. Then spent too much at the grocery store today.

Maggie, I am so sorry to hear about the death in your family. Adding you and yours to my prayers.
OK, that bad influence, Barb Zeee was at it again!!!! Since we got our new iPhones yesterday, today we had to get our new iPads.
We got the iPads set up and had a good face time gtg tonight. It will really be great when we are working on our crafts and need help.
Echo, not to worry, no dusting involved. That's as much of a clue as you are going to get. I am having so much fun teasing with this.
Getting ready to go up to Mom's and watch fireworks. Have a great one everyone.
