Another Sunny Tuesday

Morning all,

Another beautiful day on tap here. But, boy, those down in FL sure can't say that. Hang in there everyone, it too shall pass. But of course will give you some anxiety in the process and a mess to clean up afterwards. Barbzee, one thing you might do and actually that goes for any of you who live in hurricane or tornado prone areas, is to make up a "Go Bag". It was something that was recommended after Katrina hit. I did that and it sits in my hall closet by the front door and I can grab in in case of emergency. It contains a changes of clothes, underwear, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel/washcloth, soap and the general stuff like that. Just a kit to have if I need to evacuated in a hurry and no time to grab or pack anything. Just grab that bag and go. Should put in a couplle of food bars of some kind too.

Maggie, if you are antsy to camp while in MI, there are mini cabins, camping cabins and tepees in some of the MI state parks. Course they require you having to bring your own stuff which is out for you per say, but something you might want to keep in mind for later. And yest, trailer rentals are available. In fact, there is one for rent at a place just up the road from me here and they will put it in Otsego Lake SP where I work. Don't know how much they charge though. And I know there are other places too. Too bad this hadn't been you reunion week as it's beautiful here right now, sunny and mild with cool nights. Perfect June weather.

My friend Brenda and I went bumming yesterday. Stopped up at Burt Lake SP to see my former ranger friend, now supervisor up there for a short. Busy time for her, so not much time to visit of course. Then we headed north to Cheboygan and over to Cheboygan SP. Eventually we wound up in Mackinaw City would you believe, just where Judy and I were on Friday. Such a beautiful day to be there too. It's an area that I have and still am considering moving too. It's so pretty up there. And we went through Wilderness State Park too  Judy's campsite was occupied by another rig now, as we all know she has moved on. So from there we meandered back home. Heading out again today, but not sure just where. Maybe up to the Petoskey/Charlevoix area where Maggie is going next month.

Well, time to be moving along here. Want to wash my hair and get cleaned up. Need to go to town to gas up and also do some grocery shopping. Back to work tomorrow again and am on the afternoon shift (11-7:30) for a couple of days. Have a fun day all, well those in FL may not, but what can you do except wait out mother nature. Soos, hope your rains let up too although I know they are much needed. We have another hot spell coming in this week into middle of next too

good morning ladies
I'm ready for cooler temps too but I'll just grin and bear it for the next 6 weeks with 109. Would be nice to
go to some cooler campground for a little while but my favorite area (Payson) has had a lot of trouble
with bears attacks lately. The bear(s) have ripped up several tents and even broke into a cabin and attacked
a guy over this past month. Three attacks and the most recent one is in critical condition. The rangers killed
3 bears yesterday prowling that campground and they are doing dna testing to see if they got the bad bear(s).
No way would I ever go camping in a tent or popup.
Time for another cup of coffee and off to read more posts.
Ya'll have a great day, be safe and stay cool.

You and me both, Maggie. We are supposed to be in the 100's until Friday, then drop down to 98-99. I hate the heat like this. Oh well, don't need to be griping. Barb Zee and others are having it a whole lot worse in FL with all the rain, winds and flooding. Hope everyone there stays safe.

Have everything in the bathroom cleaned out and boxed up. Only things in there now are the things I need daily and 2 boxes of things for the MH. Took longer than I had thought because I was not thinking of everything stored in the vanity cabinets and drawers. Now ready to start clearing everything out of the kitchen. Will be bringing in my kitchen items from the 5'er and use them until time to move them into the MH. The kitchen is going to take a few days. I have 22 cabinets to empty with 5 drawers along with all my pantry shelves. Since I love to cook, have a lot of specialty items. Darla is loving it that all that will be going to her. Have service for 12 in 3 sets of plates along with matching serving dishes/bowls. These go back to when Chuck and I had people over every weekend. It's Darla's turn now. Her kids are grown now and they visit with their friends at her house now. She needs these things. I don't. The back of the house is starting to have that empty house sound. Will be glad when the whole house sounds empty.

Everyone have a wonderful, safe day.

Hello everyone... sorry to have been missing in action for a while but I am alive and well... right now I am in Michigan visiting family... in Clinton Township until the 4th then on to Lansing after that to 6 lakes to visit my dear friend T.

In the weeks before I left on this trip I had injections in both knees and shoulders so things are doing good now. Slowly slowly I do move... ha ha ha guess that is fine.

I have been reading of all the downsizing going on and wow that sure is a chore. Keep it up.

Have a good day
Kathleen

Sue, having the little bag packed is a good idea. I have thought about doing this so many times. Tornadoes are our biggest threat here. It is so dry now fire is a becoming a worry. A house just burned in our area a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure what caused it but I suspect they might have been burning trash. Maybe we should even put a list of numbers of home insurance, car insurance, etc and a little cash. I can't wait to see a picture of Judy's surprise.
Ava, I really don't think I would want to camp in anything where there are that many problems with bears. They could demolish an RV too.
Dawn, your move sounds daunting. Mine is a piece of cake compared. I just wish when one job is done two more wouldn't grow back.
Kathleen, I'm glad your shots have allowed you to enjoy your trip up to MI. Most likely you are having pleasant temps too. If I wasn't so engrossed in getting this house ready to sell and waiting for a buyer for my mh I would take off for somewhere like Door County in WI or maybe the Rockies. When the mh sells and I get my travel trailer plus gaining my confidence in handling it I'm taking off anyway for a few weeks. I can pay a neighbor kid to come water my pitiful shrubs. They are desperately clinging to life even with twice a day watering.
Many items on my agenda today so best get off my b----!

Good morning gals! Got a long 9 hour day ahead of me at work. Gotta think of the tips tho, to get me thru it!

I am concerned about my friend in Crystal River, Florida. I haven't heard back from her for a couple days. Her house is right on a canal so I am pretty sure their house is flooded or will be when the tide comes up. Makes me think twice about living in the coastal areas if I move there. Maybe Orlando or Ocala would be better choices.

Hope those of you down there are staying safe, dry and away from tornadoes, too!

Bears who are problems, are usually problems because of people who are stupid. Yep. People pay no attention to not leave any food out, etc etc - then the bears learn about the food sources.

That said - bears are all around in Canada and Alaska, and rarely a problem. I'm not saying an rv couldn't have a problem, but haven't talked to anyone up here who's heard of it. Pop-ups and tents, yes - especially because they almost always have food in them (instead of in the provided, safe, food containers) which can be found by scent alone.

I've had a couple closer encounters with bears than I'd like, but in both cases the bears reacted as they should - they were as frightened of me as me of them - and they turned tail. I, on the other hand, stood my ground and made lots of noise. A running person is a target - as are bike riders - as the bear, like dogs you see chasing motorcycles, now wants to "play". Three years ago when in Denali, had to laugh as the bus drivers there call the bike riders in the park "Meals on Wheels". The one told me none have been killed in the years he's worked there - but several have been "played" with and left as no fun after being knocked over.

Another cloudy, rainy day for me on a day off today. Peaches and I have had one good long walk. Intend to walk to the health food store later to get some almonds and honey and whatever else looks good. Otherwise, being a bum again. Tomorrow starts 4 days on.
