TUESDAY EXAM DAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TUESDAY EXAM DAY

Postby Nasoosie » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:45 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

We are getting stormy weather this afternon here with possible thunderstorms as the warm front moves across us. Tomorrow's temps are expected to get into the 90s. I hate storms. Do people just leave your storm radios on all night, or day, when it goes off? The one time I had mine on in FL it drove me crazy with all it's sirens and notices and warnings, and I wasn't sure if it would shut itself down as the storms passed, or not. I guess I will have to get it out and try it here in the Adirondacks where storms are much less prevalent and continuous.

Yesterday I got the old trailer out of the huge shelter and, with Joe's help backing it up into place, got it leveled and situated for the summer. I really hope to get the new pex (pez?) plumbing I bought for it a couple of years ago set up this summer. The tires were down to a mere 18 pounds of pressure, so I spent a good while charging up my compressor and pumping air into them to get them up to their 35 lb psi recommendation. It'sa wonder we didn't peel the rubber right off the wheels when we moved it with that low pressure! It makes a wonderful guest house for the summer, and all of its windows are the wonderful louvres you can leave open even in the rain.

Then I swept the leaves out of the shelter and got it ready to make shipshape for a rainy day shelter during the Ruckus, should we have one. (Or any.)

Took a walk to the brook and beaver dam, then to the pond where I stripped to my dainties (HAH!) to take a quick swim. As soon as I got in there, I saw the ribbony form of a leech waving past me, and out I leaped, shampoo in hand and hair not washed! Danged leeches of late have made swimming down there a thing of no fun whatsoever!

Porta Potty was delivered and set up yesterday afternoon after pond walk. It's good to have that for me out here in the trailer.

Kids brought me back a meal of yummy beer-batter-fried fish, French fries, and cole slaw from wherever they went for dinner, which I wolfed down some of last night and have just finished some for breakfast. Best fried fish I have had ever, I think.

I am noticing that even before we get the rain, this danged lawn needs another mowing! I am hoping I can figure out how to fix the choke/throttle mechanism on the one mower that will even start. It doesn't self-propel any more, either. Don't know if I can fix that, or not. Manually pushing a power mower is not fun!

Today I go for my yearly woman-medical exam stuff, and will get a date to get a mammogram as well. I so hate this every year, but the alternative is even worse to contemplate.

Happy Tuesday to all!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

good morning all
Soos, I never had a weather radio, but we did have a scanner once and it would pick up the national weather
broadcast. I found it took too long to weed out the counties that didn't pertain to us. Nowadays its much
faster to just log into the weather website and see it on the map. Might not work for all but for me it
does. Your battered fish sounded good :D
Only plans for today is to stay cool.
Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Good for you Soosie in getting your well-woman stuff done, even the mammo! My friend B put off having hers done and having her symptoms checked and now we are going to lose her in the not too distant future.

I'm still sweating! The A/C is supposed to be fixed tomorrow. Even sleeping in the trailer hasn't allowed me to get a good night's sleep, especially since I have to run in the house when Mother Nature calls in the middle of the night.

Did get the truck fixed yesterday to the tune of $360. I hope that is it for the truck for the summer. And I still don't know the damage to my account the A/C is going to do. It's a good thing I've already paid some on my vacation next month.

Soos, glad you got your trailer out of the shelter for the summer and getting it set up sounds like it is going well. I remember swimming in a lake in New Hampshire, I think, when we were camping when I was a kid. That was my first and only time dealing with leaches. We might have been in upstate New York. Can't remember for sure. I remember they scared the fire out of me. Went running for Mom to get them off me. I bet I was pretty vocal! LOL

I hate the well woman exams too. Got a scare a few years ago. Had a spot show up on my chest wall during my mammogram. Had to go for more extensive X-rays and sonogram. It turned out to be benign and was gone within 6 months. At the time, a friend was beginning her battle with breast cancer, so sure made me worry a little. Since then, all has been good.

I really slept hard last night and overslept this morning. I posted a bunch of pictures of Chuck and the kids on FB. Darla and Angela, our niece, were commenting along with me about the memories. Some friends jumped in to join the talk. It was great with all the laughter and good memories. The last one I posted really got to me and I cried for quite a while. Had to get off FB. I guess I was just emotionally wiped out. Went to bed at 11 and did not wake up until almost 9 this morning. Promised I would post more this evening for the kids. These are pictures we had not looked at for many years. Going through old photo albums.

Going to finish the linen closet today. The top 2 shelves are empty. When I get through with that, moving into the bedroom. More than 3/4 of livingroom is full of boxes waiting for Darla to come pick up. Have already given her fair warning!

Everyone have a fantastic day. Time for a second cup of coffe, then got to get in shower and get day going.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Wow did I sleep hard last night. Set the alarm for 8hrs and when it went off this morning I shut it off and went back to sleep. Kelly woke me up at 10am. I did wake up once to go P sometime as the sky was starting to get light, I looked at my watch but danged if I remember what time it was now! I sure do know that Shade was throwing a fit to get out the door. She ran out and jumped up on Kelly's bed and started barking at her! I had to P and get dressed before I went out the door. She about drove Kelly nuts but Kelly wasn't dressed either.

I am gonna be grounded tonight cause Kelly is taking the truck to work. She said she didn't do much at work yesterday. Helped with some pallets and then lots of computer stuff as a new hire. She is starting to remember isle numbers for where stuff is tho! She is worried about getting some time at the registers. She's been a cashier before but of course WalMart cashiering is all new to her and is wondering when they are gonna let her start training. She said that 'all' employees have to know how to run the registers. And she got chuckling that she is gonna have to relearn how to bag as she is to use to bagging just for us. We load our reusable bags heavy so that we don't make as many trips back and forth.

Nothing at all on the agenda for today. Can't go anywhere without a vehicle so it's home bound I am. Might do some sorting? Oh well I will just have to wait and see how much energy I have and what the day might bring!

OK, off to read and see if ya'll have been up to anything. Hope today is a grand day for you and remember to please stay safe!!

Love to all

We have one of the weather radios and after a little while of the alarm going off every 5 minutes I turn it off. That's not a good thing but it gets very aggravating. We don't have a storm shelter so where are we going to go anyway. The cats and I go in the utility room. I have gone into the old house. It would be better than a trailer on a hill.

My CB radio has the weather channels but most of the time if there is a weather bulletin I can't tell where the storm is. Most of the time they give counties instead of cities. I usually don't know what county I'm in if I'm traveling. Now that I can get on the internet when I'm traveling I will probably stop and check one of the weather sites.

I need to go to Walmart but can probably manage to put that off for 2 days. It looked like it was going to rain for a while but now the sun is shinning. The weather people keep talking about a low coming into the gulf later this week. That's all I need. I am leaving on Sunday and my DH will be freaking out about a storm.

We got one of the weather radios too but I don't turn it on, it is so annoying and just keeps repeating. Probably should leave it on and if it does come on turn it off and go to the TV and watch the local report.

Soos appointment today made me wonder, have any of you heard of Thermography? I read about this years ago in a magazine but there aren't any places near where I live. I have also heard and don't know if it is true or not, that in Europe this is the typical screening they use. They are also not as aggressive in their treatment of cancer there as here.

"A Safer Screening Option for Women

Thermographic breast screening is brilliantly simple. It measures the radiation of infrared heat from your body and translates this information into anatomical images. Your normal blood circulation is under the control of your autonomic nervous system, which governs your body functions.

Thermography uses no mechanical pressure or ionizing radiation, and can detect signs of breast cancer years earlier than either mammography or a physical exam.

Mammography cannot detect a tumor until after it has been growing for years and reaches a certain size. Thermography is able to detect the possibility of breast cancer much earlier, because it can image the early stages of angiogenesis (the formation of a direct supply of blood to cancer cells, which is a necessary step before they can grow into tumors of size)."

Good morning everyone!

Soos, if you get a NOAA weather radio, you can just set it for your county only and it will go off just if/when there is a watch or warning for your county. It tells you what the watch/warning is and then shuts off until the next one. I loved having mine back in MN. My dad has it now.

Am taking it easy this morning. Very tired now from the hair cut sale, which has been extended thru the week. I am mentally exhausted as well. Too much stress lately! I think our houseguests are leaving today. I had planned on going to the fair again today before work but too tired for that too. Was supposed to have tomorrow off but now have to work half a day there. Luckily, I have the weekend off so I may go on my camping trip afterall, up in the mountains with the group I went with last year.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
