Cool Tuesday

Good Morning from the 45th,

Much cooler here this morning, no more 80-90 degree weather for a few days. Fine by me. I have more energy and get more stuff done when it's cooler. I'll be off work the next two days, so will get somethings done around here. Working a 7 day stretch right now and then will do another one starting on Friday. That way I can get a requested day off without working a longer stretch between days off. Actually it kind of flew by.

Sure sounds like everybody's busy with various projects and things. Trying to vacinate cows, get dogs ready to go to new home, getting ready to move, getting ready to hit the road, destuffing and organizing. What a busy bunch we are. Dawn, your dogs are beautiful. I"m sure you are going to miss them, but once they get with the cattle and horses, they should become very adjusted to their new home. Will probably wonder what happened, but then sometimes they just get into the action and that's it. We had a collie whom we left with the lady we bought her from, when we wanted to go on vacation a couple of times and she was so busy playing with the other dogs, I don't think she missed us at all.

Am thinking of JudyJB today as she finishes packing up and gets ready to move this weekend. Then she will start her new adventure. We are going to have a mini GTG in Mackinaw City next Friday when she gets up north here. Looking forward to meeting her and spending a day doing "tourist" things.

All this talk of heading out on the road, selling the stick and bricks, destuffing etc., has got me wondering if I want to do that. Sure is tempting to try. But not an easy decision. Think i need to spend some time doing some traveling a little to see if I want to do it. Need to leave the stick and bricks for a while and see. Home prices are down so bad that up here, we can't sell places without giving them away practically.

sst looked at the clock and gotta run. Have a great day all.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

There are not too many things I can say I know for sure about me and my life at this stage of it, but I DO know for sure that I am not a nomad at heart, and that I need and want a rooted home somewhere. Of that I am positive, and for me to be able to say that I am positive about something makes me feel good! I love not having a work schedule any more, to give me time to spend either traveling, visiting, camping, exploring, and doing work on the houses I have. But, for me to have no place that doesn't move around is unthinkable for me. I am cleaning and sorting to make this place more livable for all concerned, as it will be for the entire familly to share, and to save and organize the special things I feel I cannot live without. My FL house is all mine, and it is very uncluttered and has just things necessary for anyone to live in a comfy fashion----minus all the mementos and collectibles as this house has up here! Hence, this is why this place is giving me a lot of work and headaches right now. Each little memento still means so much to me, and making keep and sell decisions is very difficult for me. But-----I am doing it!

Sunny and 78 degrees out there right now, but rain is coming for the afternoon----good for working and sorting in the house. 78rpm records will be addressed today, as well as photo albums and the rest of the book shelves. After this day, I will need to go to WalMart and get more storage bins!

I am looking at the lawn and seeing that it also needs another good mowing, but that can wait until after the next rain, hopefully. I discovered that I was mistaken about my Ruckus GTG dates and my high school reunion in Rhode Island, so now I need to decide if I can afford to go to that, or not. I guess Mandy and Joe could take care of my two dogs for three nights, maybe. The Ruckus will be over by the time the reunion date comes up.

Gotta get moving here----hope everyone has a good day!

No matter how tempting it may seem, you should not sell your sticks'n'bricks, Sue, until you are really, REALLY sure you want to do it. In my case, I would be selling anyway and moving someplace else, regardless of whether I bought a motorhome or not. I have no family around here and this is not where my kids grew up, so I don't have too many memories to preserve from this building.

And i know I AM a nomad, so it is different for me. I have been that way ever since I was a child. Other people sit in airports thinking about getting home, while I listen to the announcements and think of all the places I could be going.

I slept pretty well last night but had to get up once around 3:00 for another vicodin as the pain in my foot has been kicking in. I got up at 8:00 and took another half just a few minutes ago. Hard not to bump this toe, even in the boot. Taking antibiotics also, so those and the vicodin, plus the whole handful of of my regular pills is upsetting my stomach a bit, so no food other than a glass of milk for a while.

Waiting for someone to come to haul two old dressers and a huge TV from my second bedroom to the garage, and a few things from the basement up also so I can call Purple Heart of someone to come get it. Resting for a while and then will do my packing slowly from a chair. Want to finish the den--not much there but will feel good to get it done.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Oh goodness I slept like a log last night! Alarm went off at 7am and I reset it for another hour and went back to sleep. Then shut it off when it went off again and went back to sleep. Kelly work me up about 30 minutes ago and I still didn't want to get up!!! I must have been exhausted! Am sitting here with my 'first' cup of coffee and all I want to do is go back to bed again but don't dare to. If I did my sleep schedule would be so screwed up..... As it is now I probably wont want to go to bed tonight until late then will want to sleep in late tomorrow. ~sigh~

Worked the buffet line yesterday. I helped open at 8am to set up and get everything ready. I enjoyed it and loved being out of dishes. If I remember correctly I will be in dishes only once this week. YAY!!! Lead guy says he will probably send me to wardrobe to get an 'Aunt Ganny's' dress to wear on the line. It's basically a red dress, a red and flowered pinafore and a lace mob cap. Wont I look sweet!

Today is the day that the couple who are in interested in the TT are suppose to come over. They should be here around noon or so to look it over and we can talk. I soooooo hope that they decide that they want it. Gonna keep my fingers crossed!!! Am also hoping that they decide to simply move into this park and then I wont have to move this TT. And then we can get a different site closer to the wifi point!!! We both really like this spot as it's way down in the corner and quiet but we both really, really would like to be able to get a better wifi signal. ;)

OK gonna go read and maybe catch up. Hope ya'll have a great day with all your plans and remember to stay safe everyone!!

Love to all

Sue, I agree with Judy. Keep your house until, if ever, you know you would be happy not having it. I have always been a nomad too. I could have stayed out forever in the 5th wheel when Chuck and I would take it out. Chuck liked the going, but he liked going home after more. For me, staying in this house is just way too hard. For one thing, the upkeep is way too much. No way can I keep up all the work required by myself. Before Chuck got sick, it took both of us even after he retired. After he became sick, we had to hire daily help. That is way too expensive for me to do. I would have to find a job just to pay for that alone. Then there is the horrible fact that he will never be here again. Everywhere I look in the house, it hurts. I really have to fight being depressed all the time right now. For me, it will be the best thing to sell and travel.

Does anyone want a younger brother? I have one I would gladly give away today. LOL. I could wring Paul's neck. We were talking yesterday evening about cleaning calcium build up from the water lines. I was telling him what Echo and I had been talking about doing. He looks at me and says, "Oh yeah, I never thought to tell you but the water pump has never worked in the TT". He said he did not even think to check that until after the 30 day warranty was up after we bought it. If he had said something 3 years ago, Chuck could have fixed it. I told him I would get one of the mobile RV repair people to come out and fix it. Told him I would have much preferred to know this long ago. Then had a discussion about the fact that he is going to have to carry some fresh water in the Class C when we are on the road and that the water pump is pretty important. I guess younger brothers are always going to be younger. I don't guess I will really wring his neck, but it was sure a tempting thought last night.

Hope everyone is having a great day. I slept a little late because was up from 2-5 this morning, but going to get another cup of coffee and get my day going.

It's cool here this morning, for South Louisiana. I think it's about 85. We are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. The rain is about mid state right now and they seldom tell you how fast it is moving.

I grew up in the Air Force and we moved every 2 years until I was in high school. I hated it. I like to travel when I can but I am also glad to get home so don't think I could ever full-time. One of my friends from college took one RV trip with me and she thought the time on the road was boring. She has been to Africa, South America, Europe and just got back from Asia. I have no desire to leave the country. Twenty years ago I would have gone to Europe and Egypt if I could have but now I will keep my behind in the USA.

I need to call the Ford place and see what is going on with my motorhome. I was suppose to get updates if they found anything so leads me to believe it is in the back lot somewhere. I told my son that I would go to the local state park with them this weekend so probably need to speed up the service department.

Echo, I think we are going to need a picture of you in your "Aunt Granny" dress.

Good morning all. Dawn, does the little brother cut grass and do plumbing? I'll take him! Raining ogg and on in Labama, suopposed to return to sun tomorrow. I too am a member of the group that still wants a home base and solid house, but it seems we are becoming few in this group and sometimes I dion't feel a part of the group. I do want to do more traveling than I have been tho this fall and winter. Eventually I want (will have to get when money runs low) a place with smaller yard and no pool. But I am in an area where housing just is not improving and there is a point that I won't let it go at, also I would like a place that is just mine and let another family make memories in this place. I admire the ladies who have lost husbands and know just what they want, for I didn't feel able to make decisions for awhile and took way too long to even try to get out in the motorhome! Well, I don't know what that rambling was all about! Everyone even if still and home, get out and have fun today!!!!!! Wendy Oh Echo, any word on when you are leaving to get the trailer and will you have any trouble getting time off from work?

Good morning ! Still morning here, although late. Wendy, you are a member of this forum, no matter, what you do about traveling, or what you are thinking, I have been a widow many more yrs then you, but when just yrs. you have put in, I was still totally lost, functioned, but still didn't have any idea what I was going to do, or what would really make me happy, it will get better, hang in there and for goodness sake, don't think of yourself, as not a member of this group. We need you here.

Echo, we do need pix of the dress  I think you'll look good in red. What went through my mind when I read it, was hope you get it, because, if you do, I wouldn't think you would be on the dishes that much. Sure hope it all works out for you.

Not much happening here, Dil getting my car cleaned out of my personal stuff, slling it today, Its been a good car for me, hope it is for this young college girl.

Big happenings, is I hope after this rest period to wash my hair. Storm and cool temps moving in tomorrow, and can't stand it much longer.

Wrote a msg. and lost it a few mins ago, so will shut up now. I enjoy all the doings you are all up too, busy, busy people on here. Dawn, I laughed when you offered your brother out, :D

Enjoy your day, each of you and do something nice for yourself somewhere in it.
Those traveling stay safe, and hope the weather is good.

CArol :)

If we are giving away relatives I have a son I would like someone else to take on. He does mow but you would have to remind him the grass needed mowing. He has a girl friend that has him doing the cooking so maybe things are looking up. I just can't help but think she really hates to cook if she is willing to eat his cooking.

When my mother-in-law was still alive I would tell my DH when his cousins were visiting her thinking he might like to go see them. After a few years he told me that if I liked them so much I could have them.

That's funny Martha. I told Mom earlier that I was trying to give Paul away here. She thought that was really funny. Wanted to know if we had any takers. Told her not yet, but one can always hope

Good afternoon! Nice sunny day here in San Diego!

I have been working on getting my cosmetology license in Florida, this morning. Not sure how long that takes but wanted to get the ball rolling on that (application forms, and forms for proof of licenses and school hours from MN and CA) so it will be ready if and/or when I decide to move there.

I also need a place to call "home". That is why I am so frustrated now. I feel like a perpetual "guest" and really need a place of my own to settle down. Then I can travel around from there when I finally get an RV or trailer. That just isn't going to happen out here in CA, so I think I need to get over my fear of alligators  and head east! Have been looking on the Tampa area Craigs List and there are a lot of job openings with Great Clips (lots of shops out there) and lots of really nice, very affordable apartments.

Got to get ready for work here so I hope you all have a nice day!

Barbie, back when I was a lot younger (in my 20's), I almost bought in Tampa. That was my favorite area in Florida. Haven't been to California, so can't comment on that.

Good afternoon
Been on the computer way too much today but think I've caught up with all, including the blogs as well as a few games.
Thanks for checking in, Alice. Thought of you when looking at all the flooding along the Gulf this week.
Also glad to read that Ava, Judy and Carolinagirl are on the mend.
And of course the uplifting excitement of Dawn's generous gift to Echo and Kellie.
Barbie, hope yo get something settled sooner rather than later.
I finally finished getting all the paper work together to apply for refinancing house. Been agonizing over the decision of whether or not to do that for days. Only 6 years left on current loan. Strange as most of my life it would not have even been much of a decision as I would have opted for getting it paid off. The newer interest rate cuts the payments almost in half but refinancing will add another 7 years to payoff as it will be a 15 year mortgage. That means I'm not very likely to see the end of payments in my lifetime. In the shorter term it will greatly improve cash flow and the potential to travel a little more.
A little of your cleaning/sorting must have rubbed off. I cleared a small cabinet last night of old insurance papers - about 10 years worth, some of it on things I don't even own any more. Can't believe I just kept stashing them in there.
Sun is finally trying to come out. Think we might be done with the rain for a few days but it is steam out now.
I took a few photos of the mission Wendy and I went on last Saturday. Need to get those posted.
Hope all have had a good day

Promised Paul just now that I would not give him away overnight.  Told him not to worry, no takers so far. He got a good laugh over me trying to give him away. He may be in his 50's, but he's still my little brother, so he goes where I go since we are both in same boat now. He lost his partner, Roger, 20 years ago and I figure we will just keep getting old together. Family looks out for each other.
