TUESDAY WITH A GLIMPSE OF THE SUN

GOOD MORNING ALL!
The sun is trying to get through the scattered clouds here this morning, too, and already it is much brighter than it's been for about 3 days. The temperature is still very cool at 48 degrees, and the dampness makes it feel much colder than that. My electric heater is humming in here. (It has a fan)
Yesterday I found a washing machine to replace this one that was installed in 1977, and I will order it from Lowes via phone this morning. They will install it and remove the old one from the premesis, thank heavens. I did use it yesterday to do up a load of bath towels----those kids seem to think you can only use a towel once, and then WHAM---into the laundry it goes. I took that old machine apart yesterday, as far as I could go, and along with help from the internet, determined that the hot water solenoid is fried and remains open, even when the machine is unplugged. So-----time for a new one. We decided to limp along with the propane camp stove and the outside grill until we can install a propane system here for both the heating system and the kitchen stove.
Mandy is puting out an email to all concerned with this house, suggesting that we take out a home equity loan on it to fix all that needs fixing all at once. Wiley has his own home to maintain, and he pays the taxes on this property where the two houses are. I pay the utilities all year on this house. I pay the taxes and the mortgage on the FL home, and the utilities (a neglible amount) down there. Mandy and Joe and Weldon and Melissa have their own properties to maintain now. We decided this will become the "Lavigne Compound Home" which we all will share, expenses, and use. I like that idea very much. The four kids will be responsible for the home equity payments. It was an idea I didn't think the kids would go for, but they seem to think it's the way to go. Sigh---a big relief for me. Home equity loans are at an all-time low right now, and it sounds like a fantastic idea to me.
Today, if it stays nice, after I order the new washing machine, call for the use of a porta potty for the summer, I will go to the leanto and whip that into shape. It's nice to have the generator to run a vacuum cleaner down there these, rather than just sweeping as I used to do.
Happy Tuesday to all!
