THUNDER SHOWERY MORNING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THUNDER SHOWERY MORNING

Postby Nasoosie » Tue May 29, 2012 5:49 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

A rather wild thunderstorm woke me, Molly, and Dinah up this morning at about 4:45, and we have all been awake since. There is a break in the storms now, so I will do my daily entry while I can. I had to reset my WiFi inside, but it is up and running again now.

The kids have all gone up to Mandy's and Joe's, and will be back either tomorrow or Thursday so someone can take the kids to the airport on Friday morning for their flight home to FL. I have the day to decide which area of the house I will begin to sort through, bin up, and label for whatever. I believe it will be the living room and the bookshelves filled with dusty books that Mandy and her asthma cannot deal with. I have many very old books, some first editions and rare, along with a ton of old 78 rpm records, some signed by famous people like Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, and more. I will need to find an avid collector of such items, and will keep several of the old books I still love to look through.

I caught one mouse last night in my tin cat live mouse trap I set on the kitchen counter, baited with peanut butter. I will need to take him a long way down the road and across the brook to let him go this morning. How many more there are remains to be seen.

My leanto also needs its annual vacuuming and cleaning and sorting, but I will wait for a nice day to tackle that. It looks as if the blueberries were not in bloom during the late killing frosts, which is a good thing. I will wait to mow the big field with the brush hog until the picking season is over.

I also need to defrost my big chest freezer in the cellar that Mandy has cleared of old foods. And look for a deal on a clothes washing machine somewhere. At least the new/used refrigerator is doing very nicely.

I hope all on the roads keep a wary eye to the skies as many storms seem to be crossing all parts of the country. May we all see at least some sushine today. That fire in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is still raging, I heard this morning. I hope some rain with no lightning falls torrentially on that. Beryl seems to have made an impact on northern FL, although it appears to have missed Alice's Pan Handle area. Route 95 noth will be no good for driving for today.

Sky is getting black again right now, so I will sign off and hunker down. Later...
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning Soos... we have a cool down from the mid 90s to 80s tonight will be in the mid 50s oh so nice by the weekend it will be in the 60s WONDERFUL!!!!! This will give me a chance to clean the MH Bright Hope, steam clean the carpet after a winter of use... and re pack for my trip to MI... I think I can take fewer things as what I have taken before is ridiculous! I have always packed like there was no store until I got home! hard to change your ways at my age but I will try...

Oh I got my three laminated maps yesterday and have taped them to a wall and have started tracking the ladies on their way to AK... it is a fun way to follow them... makes me feel like I am there right along with them!

I must take my computer in as they have to replace it... there is one pixel gone and they say it will spread... Thank goodness for Apple Care... wish they would have another plan when this runs out but alas they do not... the fellas at Apple Connecting Point will go over everything and clean it up for me...

CArol is still in my prayers also little Maggie as she must be so afraid... Take care my friends on the road to AK...

Sorting things is on the agenda for today and making piles of only necessary things to take to the MH...

Take care everyone...

Good morning here from HOT Alabama, but supposed to cool off some by weekend, "only" eighties! Still looking for enough people in one spot at one time to uncover my pool. It's a pain sometimes and every year i swear Im going to leave it, but it's so much more invitiing to look at the water than a big blue pool cover. Kathleen, remember the lessons I gave you on packing!? hee, hee! Wendy

Morning all. We had thunderstorms here last night too. Going to be hot again today with a chance of thunderstorms again this afternoon.

I thought I had found a great home for the two Anatolian Livestock Guardian dogs. Mom and I went Saturday to see a lady's place since she said she wanted the dogs to guard her sheep. I was very comfortable about the dogs going to her after I saw her and her land. She called last night to ask if the dogs would kill cats. We have never had cats so I could not tell her they would or would not. If the dogs perceived the cats as a threat to the sheep, they could. She has 2 barn cats she has raised since they were kittens and they roam her pastures. She decided she could not take the chance. I understand. I would have felt really bad if she took the dogs and they killed her cats. Back to square one in finding new home for the big dogs.

Have a fantastic day everyone!

Dawn can you send some of that rain to the coast? They mentioned the D word on the weather report last night. Don't want that!!!

Back at work after my 4 day weekend and it was juicy this morning. It's bad that even though it's already 74 degrees before 7 in the morning, that I had to turn on the defroster because of all the humidity and condensation. That was one good thing about the drought last summer, we didn't have as much humidity.

Maggie, they used the D word here too. We have had almost no rain in May and that is normally our wettest month. Sure hope we don't have as hot and dry summer as we had last summer. I am hoping we won't be here this summer because we are in motorhome and traveling in the north. Still a long way from that so I guess I had better prepare for a Texas summer. LOL.

No rain here and they promised :( It has however cooled down thank goodness.
How do you know what route the AK group is on Kathleen, looks like they are not on the interstate.
I'm so sorry to hear Carol isn't going to be able to continue and hope that she recovers soon. Also thinking of Maggie who is probably wondering what happened to all her friends.

most of the time Liz says what town they are in so that is what I am marking with little tabs... and the maps are HUGE... I think they are meant for class rooms... that is the size I wanted... got one of the US also that one is for me to mark my limited travels...

Oh Wendy it may take me till fall to get things all cleaned out... but the good thing is the kids cleaned out most of it for me except the basements... and there are several of them...

Good Afternoon

Well I moved Magic back to campground late yesterday without incident - well at least until parking time. Beginning to doubt that I will ever master blind backing up. Doing fine as long as someone there to direct but know that one of these days will encounter a time where no one available.
Still find it a bit strange that everyone was asked to leave last Wed and that a public park was closed due to being rented entirely to one large group. It was a BMW motorcycle rally with 750 tent campers. Ditto is a large park but with a small campground (33 spaces). From what I was told, the tents were set up only a few feet apart and utilized the entire park including soccer fields, play grounds, etc. There were dozens of porta-potties still stationed all around the area and clean up crews working when I got there plus several tents. Happy I did not have to fight that crowd or camp in a tent in this heat.

Nicky has honed his hunting skills to a troublesome degree. Now it includes chipmunks, rabbits, opossum frogs and just about anything else that might stray into his yard. I'm not only tired of having to clear little dead bodies (or parts thereof) but am concerned for his safety. Record numbers of snakes and urban coyotes have been reported in this area over past couple of months.

Need to check out other posts and pay bills then dust off my WiiFit. Have neglected the latter lately.
