Good morning to all!

Shirl, Irmi, Steve, and I made it here safely yesterday, just before the rainstorms hit! We have decent, albeit, small sites, but they are shaded, in case of any heat. Right now it's about 55 out there, and I'm wearing jeans for the first time since about January at that GTG. And the skies are clear and blue!!

Irmi and Steve fed us last night, with yummy, smoke-flavored (no hot spices, thank heavens!) pulled pork on buns and home-made cole slaw. Shirl brought us brownies and some other sweet things for dessert, and I added some Ben and Jerry's ice cream to go with them. We sipped and chatted until my eyes were closing (about 8:30!) so I missed the chatroom----sorry about that. I will try to do better tonight.

Off we go----hope you all have a great day wherever you may be!

Morning!

Soos - sounds like a good time was had by all.

I'm now wishing I had reservations some place for this weekend. I'm finished with school early and am totally free for the weekend. But it being Mother's Day weekend and the fact that it's supposed to rain at least part of the weekend, I guess it's just as well. I am doing a breast cancer walk - Making Strides - Saturday.

Soos, I'm glad you are able to make your trip without all the worry you first had. I find that if I don't travel for a while the first trip is a worry for a while. Wish I could travel shorter distances but haven't gotten over wanting to get there and pushing too hard.

Maggie, I have found that on holiday weekends when the parks are full it's not always fun. Too many people just turn their kids loose and don't watch them and everyone else has to deal with what they do. Most of the time you can't walk for fear of being run over by bikes or golf carts. The parents are drinking beer and cooking and couldn't tell you where their kids are.

I haven't heard what my family's plans for Mother's day are. My DIL is from New Orleans so they might be heading that way. I enjoyed the porch rockers at our Stonewall GTG so much that I am thinking about asking for one for Mother's day. Not sure the cats and their long tails would enjoy one. lol

No plans for today other than clean my office. If we didn't get so much junk in the mail it might help. The next time the paper subscription runs out I'm changing to just Saturday and Sunday. I can't keep up with reading them.

Martha

One of these days I do hope to meet all of you and taste Irmi's cooking,.always good to have a good cook or two in the gtg. I bid my brother goodbye today, left Hartsville, went by Racquel's instructions until she tried to send me to Charlotte instead of Spartanburg. I will stop there and get caught up on laundry, a little paperwork and then on to the Smokies. I think I will go in from Cherokee, NC, maybe try my hand at the casino just for a lark, then cross over the mountain into Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. I brought my walking stick and my hiking shoes so a good hike or two is definitely in my plan. I wish I was comfortable with pictures so I could post while I'm out, maybe I'll focus and get it done. To all who are traveling, be safe and have lots of fun..I can feel the anticipation of the Alaskan group...how exciting!!
