Howdy all,
Bit of a rainy morning this morning, not so much here anymore, but in the general area. It is much welcomed although it's not a really good soaking rain. There is a large forest fire buring about 50 miles southeast of here and I'm sure the fire crews are hoping it will help them out a bit as are the home owners who have been evacuated. It's 90% contained but the winds are supposed to pick up and get stronger and gusty, so hopefully the other 10% can be stopped before that happens. Otherwise......
Not much on the breakfast counter around here this morning. Not really in the mood for fixing anything today. Just finished up an Adkins Meal bar and some strawberries. Anybody got anything more tempting?
Things at the park continue to roll along. Some of the staff put the fishing pier in yesterday and I and another gal were cleaning up leaves from the front of our activity building. We are working on a lot of small things that add up to the overall picture. Tomorrow i understand I will be going with my boss and one of my coworkers to install some signs at the boating access sites and one state forest campground we are maintaining. That will be nice. Change of scenery.
My friend Brenda will be rolling in later today after she finishes up Campground Host training today. I'm going to be interested to see what she learned and what they told them as far as camp hosting is concerned. The state holds a yearly campground host training for new hosts every year. Brenda was camp host for us last year, but didn't attend the training session, so my boss wants her and the one other couple doing it, to do that this year. So I'm really looking forward to her visit and we will I'm sure doing something fun on Saturday while i am off.
The excitement of the AK trips is in the air now as time is getting shorter before those heading out will be leaving. And I know those of us who aren't going will be following them along the way. Going to be an exciting summer for them and they will have many memories to bring home. There is a magic to AK, that once you have been there, you won't forget it. And the Yukon as well.
So, I'm off to fix my lunch and start getting ready to haul out Those on the road keep safe, those camping someplace, enjoy your surroundings and the rest of you have a great day. Take time to stop and smell the roses.
