Wet Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Thursday

Howdy all,

Bit of a rainy morning this morning, not so much here anymore, but in the general area. It is much welcomed although it's not a really good soaking rain. There is a large forest fire buring about 50 miles southeast of here and I'm sure the fire crews are hoping it will help them out a bit as are the home owners who have been evacuated. It's 90% contained but the winds are supposed to pick up and get stronger and gusty, so hopefully the other 10% can be stopped before that happens. Otherwise......

Not much on the breakfast counter around here this morning. Not really in the mood for fixing anything today. Just finished up an Adkins Meal bar and some strawberries. Anybody got anything more tempting?

Things at the park continue to roll along. Some of the staff put the fishing pier in yesterday and I and another gal were cleaning up leaves from the front of our activity building. We are working on a lot of small things that add up to the overall picture. Tomorrow i understand I will be going with my boss and one of my coworkers to install some signs at the boating access sites and one state forest campground we are maintaining. That will be nice. Change of scenery.

My friend Brenda will be rolling in later today after she finishes up Campground Host training today. I'm going to be interested to see what she learned and what they told them as far as camp hosting is concerned. The state holds a yearly campground host training for new hosts every year. Brenda was camp host for us last year, but didn't attend the training session, so my boss wants her and the one other couple doing it, to do that this year. So I'm really looking forward to her visit and we will I'm sure doing something fun on Saturday while i am off.

The excitement of the AK trips is in the air now as time is getting shorter before those heading out will be leaving. And I know those of us who aren't going will be following them along the way. Going to be an exciting summer for them and they will have many memories to bring home. There is a magic to AK, that once you have been there, you won't forget it. And the Yukon as well.

So, I'm off to fix my lunch and start getting ready to haul out Those on the road keep safe, those camping someplace, enjoy your surroundings and the rest of you have a great day. Take time to stop and smell the roses.

Good Morning, Sue and those to follow -
When you're done with the rain, send it down here; apparently we aren't going to get the promised front from Arizona. We do have wind though, enough that the cat spent the night curled up tightly next to me (he just doesn't like big weather - at all).
We finally decided to sever ourselves from our record collection - it had spent the last twelve years in a closet, unplayed. I kept some albums that just are too steeped in sentimental value and gave the rest to the teen-aged son of a friend, who was thrilled. I was very pleased that the first album he was excited about was some Brahms concertos (though he's mostly interested in the classic rock and roll).
Have a fun visit with your friend! I've definitely come to the conclusion that in the future I will collect more friends and less stuff.

Good morning

I'm stuck here this AM waiting for a service tech as my clothes dryer decided to quit working last Sunday night. Today was the first appointment I could get for someone to check it out. Hopefully something not too expensive to fix. I'm way behind on laundry.

Today is also my turn for community watch patrol and I have an appointment this afternoon to learn about Required Minimum Distributions from retirement accounts when one reaches the age of 70.5. The government has to be sure it gets all the taxes possible I guess. Unless the economy improves a lot, it will be doubly painful to make withdrawals.

I've made arrangements for an auto detail service to come to campground Sunday to wash and wax Magic. I hope they know what they are doing as RVs are a new addition to their services. This will be Magic's first bath and she sure needs it.

No other news here other than I'm looking forward to visit by Kathleen. She has made it to Birmingham and is visiting with Wendy and will head up here tomorrow.

Want to say welcome to all our new members as I am hopelessly behind on that topic.

Ack it is hot (eighty) and humid here, I think it feels worse because it has been so lovely and cool. Supposed to get rain and only in sixties tomorrow though!! I'm not looking forward to summer. I may be looking for the AK group!
I saw this video on Facebook this morning and loved it. I am so out of it, I thought it was recent but no...he is 21 now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etffxJVAwIc
I would love to be able to play like that!! Desire is all have though, not the necessary coordination etc it takes.
I'm doing laundry today and I may have to call the repair guy, it takes forever for the tub to fill on the hot water setting. Sarah if he shows up at your house ask if he travels

Cute video BJ! I wonder what he is doing now?

Rained all night and cloudy and windy this morning. Slept in late again. I get so tired with the long days at work and few days off. I have Saturday off but haven't decided what to do yet. Don't want to spend any money right now as I will need it to get caught up with bills after my trip. I have 3 days off next week (one on Sat and the other two on Thurs/Fri when I will be in MN) so the other 4 days will be 9 hour days! Even if we aren't always busy, they get very tiring for me. Luckily, I can get caught up on some of my reading when we have down time.

Gotta start making a list of things to pack. Looks like it will be in the mid 70's while I am there so that will be nice! Much better than last year when it was in the 30's and 40's with snow flurries the first week of May!

Have a great day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Well said and ditto here :D In the past two weeks I have taken close to 200 articles of clothing and accessories to the consignment store. After my trip to SC to see my brother, stopping in Crossville, TN for the GTG, I will start in on household items. My kiddos are putting their names on selected pieces. I remember Liz saying to her daughter "someday you'll thank me for doing this"...I made the same statement to mine. I'm not sure about unloading everything at this point but after a few years of travel, I might want a small condo on the river, but if health remains good, I might be content with a slightly larger mh, still traveling and homebasing in my son's backyard. We have discussed this already and he is totally supportive of this, as is my daughter.
Sue, I hope you and your friend have a great time.
If any of my western neighbors want to direct rain to north central AR, it will be most welcome
