Happy New Year's Eve

Can't believe I'm the first one up ahead of Sue and Soos. And I'm off today too - gotta get my internal alarm clock fixed. I think I'm like Beth a little still about not knowing night from day. Was supposed to be a work day for me but the owner gave all her workcampers the day off. My big plans include getting the oil changed in the car and being back here at the camp before dark (I hate New Year's traffic). I do plan to visit a park near Jacksonville, FL this morning to meet with some fellow geocachers. One person is marking the date with quite an accomplishment. He found at least one cache every day for 365 straight days. That is something. I have decided to try to complete the Georgia Parks challenge. The rangers have hidden a cache in 42 of the state parks. You pick up a passport in any park office and each cache container has a stamp that you stamp on the corresponding block in the passport. When you find them all it spells out a message, kind of like Wheel of Fortune, and you send it in to receive a special coin. And each cache requires you to learn about the park as you hunt for the cache (the box is in the park office but to know the combination you have to find answers on the info boards in the park). I figure it's a good way to get some hiking done in the parks and to learn some Georgia history. So that's my resolution, well, that and more kayaking. My friend's daughter has a great new year's resolution: tap dancing. I'd better stick to the kayak. Happy New Year's ladies. Hope it's a safe and happy one for all!

Good Morning Vickie... and I thought I would beat everyone to the morning show... how wrong I was... no coffee here yet...
I got to Huntsville last evening... it was a nice drive the 200 miles from Camden Tn... I talked to my friend Janie and she said that she brought one of the dogs Cora Beth home yesterday... the other one Buddy is still at the vet hospital... he will make it which is something they did not expect.. he was one sick dog for sure... maybe he will come home today...
I will see Sarah later today... I am looking forward to our visit... Beth should be here at the Space Center rv park later today... then monday it will be on a bit farther to meet Wendy and we will head slowly to the GTG in Fl... I still do not know where it is but will find out as I move along... kind of blindly moving around here...
This has been a hard year for some so maybe the New Year will bring better health, more happiness and a better ability to handle the hard times...
enjoy this last day of 2011
Kathleen

Beautiful sunrise and good temperature at 37* here in Central Texas. Looking forward to a another year of adventures. Be safe on the road and today of all the days we are on the road be careful. Some folks start to celebrate real early.

Our group here at Potter's will have a fish fry this afternoon and a big fire in the pit around the one of the rigs. Had a fire last night and it was a most gorgeous night with all of God's stars shining on us and not a breath of air.

Wishing a very Happy New Year to all of you ladies. May you all have great blessings and much strength this coming year.

Wow, four people are already awake and posted and I didn't sleep in either  But it's nice having somebody else start for a change. When you do it everyday, after awhile you sometimes don't have anything really exciting going on to start a post with. Thanks for starting it up this morning Vickie.

The geocatching in the GA state parks sounds really neat. A good way to get people out to use the parks too. We have a similiar passport book here in MI that you can buy and have a stamp put it for each state park you visit. Fun trying to see if you get them all, the which of I won't cause I have no desire to get those down in the big metropolitan areas downstate. But I've got a good start on the ones in northern Michigan and the U.P. You don't have to stay at the park, you can just go visit and have it stamped and some are scenic areas and not actual parks.

It's a cloudy morning here right now. I think we are supposed to see some sun later on and then starting tomorrow the fun begins. Low pressure coming over the state and dragging in cold air which in turn is going to start up the lake effect snow machine. We are supposed to get more than a half a foot or more of snow depending on how the wind blows and how far in from Lake Michigan you are. Some may only see an inch or two and some close to a foot. NW winds do not favor heavy snowfall here where I am, but over about 5-7 miles west they can really get dumped on. But W winds will really dump on us right here where I am. Just in how those winds move around. So time will tell how much I wind up with in my drive. I'm ready for it anyway, whichever way it goes.

Kathleen, it sounds like you are really making progress and now will be having a mini GTG with Sarah and Beth before meeting Wendy and heading into FL. The GTG is at Wekiwa Falls State park and I believe it over just a tad east of Orlando. Have fun meeting up with all the ladies and traveling along.

Well, I'm going to head on out here too. Not sure where the day is going but I am thinking of heading down to a cross country ski place to see whats new in skis and find out some info. I'ts not that far down the road here and will be a nice little outing. Hartwick Pines state park which is about 15 miels south of me is having a lot of snowshoe hiking opportunities this winter and I am thinking of taking advantage of them. I'm out of shape as far as snowshoing is concerned but that's a way to get back in it. All are guided hikes and some are geared to small groups (20) with an interpreter or naturalist along and will look for animal tracks and explain thing as we go along. Hartwick Pines is the largest park in the norhern lower and contains the last remaining stand of virgin white pine in the state. It has a logging museum and an actual logging camp with all kinds of displays about the logging days up here as well as a big welcome center that has displays of the logging industry in Michigan. There is also a modern campground with electricty and a lot of hiking and biking opportunities. Stop and visit it if you are up this way.

Happy New Years Eve everyone. Enjoy the last day of 2011.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

WOW! A full kitchen already---how nice is this! People are making their way south, for the most part, and I can't wait to meet up with you all soon at Wekiwa Springs.

Happy to hear you are in Huntsville, Kath, and that you will be meeting up with our friends soon! Say HI to all for me! Glad to know you will meet up with Wendy so she doesn't back out of the GTG!! Also happy to hear the puppies seem to be recovering----what a scary thing that was!!

Our weather is scheduled to cool way down after the New Year's Day, but they haven't said how long the cool weather will prevail. I just hope it's warmer than it was last year up in Ocala! No matter what the weather, we can have campfires to stay warm! And don't forget to make sure your furnace or electric heaters are working! Bring jackets and sweaters!

The kids are coming today so we can open our Christmas stockings, at last, and then head over to Sea World to usher in 2012. There are a couple of shows over there I hope to see, have a buffet dinner, travel on the Polar Express, listen to Christmas music, and watch their finale fireworks (with my earplugs in place!) Ths will be my first company in several weeks, so I am looking forward to it.

I always thought I would not enjoy geocaching, but now I am beginning to get itchy to try it. I always LOVED treasure hunts, and I guess this is similar to those, but much better. Hmmmmm.....maybe!

I hope you all have a safe and happy celebration tonight, and don't forget the New Year RABBITS!

Good morning everyone. I don't post much, but did want to wish everyone a very happy new year! Also, I don't know how many of you follow Barbzee's blog, but just found out that she has been in the hospital this week with pneumonia, so thought I'd put it out there for some prayers/good vibes to be sent her way.

Everyone be safe out there on the roads!

Happy New Year!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Hard to believe that it's the last day of 2011 already. Even tho some parts of the year dragged, all in all it has gone by to fast. I keep thinking, another year gone and another year older. And another year to be gotten thru.

Nothing much going on around here in these parts. For sure no partying planned. Can't remember the last time we did anything for New Years Eve other than be at home watching the ball drop while toasting the beginning of a new year with a little wine or a bottle of beer. Ya know how it goes for those of us who are wild at heart. ~sigh~

Want to wish each and everyone of you a most Blessed New Year. I am sure hoping that 2012 is better than 2011. 2011 was a rough year for me and more than a few others. For havens sake if your on the road for any reason? Please, please be careful!!!!!

Love to all
