Foggy Black Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Foggy Black Friday

Good Morning everybody,

A foggy morning is greeting those up here who are out doing their Black Friday thing. I'm glad I'm tucked inside and looking out rather than being out in that frenzied mad house. There will be a lot of tired but Christmas present loaded down shoppers by days end or in some cases, mornings end, as some stores started sales at 10 p.m. last night.

As for us, we are heading out later this morning to a quilt shop in Ishpeming that Brenda wants to go to and also over to another store. Also plan on doing some sightseeing again while the weather is nice. Rain showers moving in tomorrow, so probably won't be out and about. I do however want to go to a really good local bakery and also a Pasty shop to take some pasties back home with me, so that's on tomorows agenda at the moment.

Yesterday after we had out dinner, we went and drove around Van Riper State Park, just up the road here so Brenda could see what that park looks like. I've been in it a number of times as it's on my list to hopefully go camping there this coming year. There are a lot of trails to hike there. and it's fun just strolling the campground too. And there is a bike path as well.

Hard to believe that this week is almost over and in a couple of days we will be heading back south. I'm watching the weather forecasts as a storm is coming in and supposed to hit on Saturday night and Sunday, more in the lower peninsula than up here, but that means we might be driving into some snowy weather. Have to keep an eye on it in case it looks like it might develop into something quite nasty. We can stay here till Monday if we have to but Brenda has to be home on Tuesday, so that is the latest day we can stay. I hate to leave, but. As is, I'm contemplating coming back for Christmas week as there is a unit open that I can use for the week. Shall see what I decide to do later. Two trips in a month is not easy in the pocketbook especially coming up here.

The weather here is so mild, in the upper 40's, that most of the snow on the ground here is gone or just melted down to an inch or two. Couldn't ask for more beautiful weather. Sunshine for the past couple of days and also on the forecast for today. Unseasonalbe. But we will take it.

Beth, it sounds like you had a wonderful time at the dinner your helped out with yesterday and it was so nice of you to give those folks some additional ham and other stuff to take back with them. It's a shame that people have to get caught in those situations but that couple seems to be making the best of it. And like you said, it makes those of us who have what we have, very grateful for it.

Time to be off and have a little bit of breakfast. Just a bowl of cereal and OJ for me. We still have plenty of food here, so come up and join us, you can have your choice of whatever you want. Have a great day all.

Sounds like you and Brenda are having a good vacation Sue, hope the weather holds for the rest of the trip.

I've been having strange dreams all week, odd for me to have so many that I remember. I'm going to smack my brother when I see him because in one dream he put a tiny baby skunk on my back and it dug it's little claws in, I was screaming so loud and was so terrified it woke me up. I guess I didn't actually scream out loud as the dogs didn't come to check me out. I'm smacking him because it is something he would do if he had the chance!

We have sun this morning, I'm hoping it holds until afternoon so I can continue cleaning my bedroom with the sun coming in the windows so I can see better. Thank you Sue for the motivation, it does feel good to get things organized and do what a friend of mine calls deep cleaning. I am having a hard time with getting rid of clothes, even the ones I haven't worn for a long time and some that look like I've worn them for a long time that I just hate to part with :? For some reason I've kept a tiny TV from probably the seventies, it's one that has an extra plug so you can also run it in a car or RV. I'll have to check eBay to see if anyone is buying these. Of course the problem in this is now I want different furniture and one of the walls painted a darker color so my white iron bed frame shows up. Then I'll need new curtains...ack!! I have a dresser in there from my Granny's house and a rocker that came from her Aunt. We are talking old here and no one wants this period of furniture anymore they want 50's & 60's so I'll be lucky if I can get someone to haul them away. It also is hard for me to find and very expensive to buy furniture as I have to buy 'green' which means real wood and certain types of stains or something that is old enough to have completely out-gassed.

Dinner was good for restaurant food yesterday at Cracker Barrel but there was a huge crowd. Since we only needed a table for two we were seated fairly soon, the funny thing was my nephew who I didn't recognize at first and his mom were seated next to us.

Can't believe the dogs aren't pestering me for their walk guess I'd better get my shoes on and motivate them. I'm staying out of the stores this weekend.

Good morning to All - no worry here about Black Friday - except for the sky - had big rain storm last night - even thunder. And now this morning we've got no power. Don't know yet if it's the whole area or just our connection. Haven't gone out to check it yet. One really nice thing about the Alfa is the inverter.
Yesterday we went into the bigger town of Navajoa and went shopping to replace some of the essential stuff that Willie lost on his adventure. Found a big Auto Zone and got a locking hitch pins - nothing like locking the barn door after the horse is stolen. Also bought their only set of exterior signal lights for towing. A mallet for thumping the tires and gas additives. Bunch of other little stuff too. We'll finish shopping when we get to Mazatlan at the Sams Club or WalMart - tools, compressor etc.
Yesterday cost us US$125 - less expensive here than in US.
The sun just peaked up over the clouds - will probably be a nice day. Going to walk up the beach a ways - nothing else planned.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

It sounds as if a good Thanksgiving was had by all! The only thing mssing here was a walk on a beach somewhere, which Carol had! I can do without the organizing and skunk terrorizing that BJ had! Sue and her friend had a feast unto themselves, and are running out of days to play already!

I went to a neighboring campgound where a friend member of the ORS forum spends his winter, and I was barely able to waddle after dinner! It was a perfect day, sun, warm, cool breeze, great company.

Here are a few pics of my Thanksgiving feast with Pete's friends at his campground yesterday. There was more food and varieties of Thanksgiving fare than I can remember ever seeing and tasting!

Crowd gathering at eating cabana, and Pete carving meats.

Rear shot of those waiting to eat and chatting and drooling!

A wild guest who showed up to visit----looks like a female who just finished laying some eggs as her rear is all muddy.

The food was more varied than I have ever seen at Thanksgiving, and each dish was super delicious! My contribution was mashed turnips, and old New England tradition, and Recipe, which seemed to be a hit, as usual!

Thanks to Pete, and all, for a wonderful Thanksgiving day!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Looks like everyone had a wonderful, tummy-filling holiday. No shopping for me - I am heading for a nap since I have not slept well the past two nights. I worked this morning from 9-12 at the law firm. The office was "closed" but they wanted someone there to field the phones just in case that really-big-case came in. Well, doggone it - didn't I get three important phone calls the first hour? That means that the next holiday weekend they will definitely want someone to be around just in case.... I was hoping it will be quiet and dull and nix the holiday workday.

We are having a spell of really nice weather which is just perfect. I still have about 25 more daffodil bulbs to plant so I will try to get that done after my snooze. ;)

I just mailed off the Christmas pillowcase I made for my 2 yo great niece this morning. Haven't done any sewing for awhile!

Yesterday we went for a 4 1/2 hour quad ride - explored some new area. Got home just in time to get ready to head for Parker and dinner at the casino. No gambling because I was too stuffed to sit at a machine! Didn't eat that much and couldn't even finish my pumpkin pie :(
