Beautiful Fall Saturday

Good Morning ladies,

Hope this finds everybody up and doing this morning. It's Saturday and it's fall. Get out and enjoy it. Well, if it's raining where you are, grab the unbrella and go for a walk in the rain. Not a downpour of course :)

We are having the perfect fall here in Michigan this year. The weather has been absolutely glorious with plenty of sunshine and temps in the 70's and near 80 in some places. It's about 10 degrees above normal, but nobody's complaining. And the trees are peaking in thier annual fall display. You can't ask for better. It's great weather to be on the road, enjoying the scenery and also spending time in a local campground. I just got back from almost 5 days of it myself.

Our park is hosting our annual HalloweenFest today. We have a full campground and a full slate of activities to keep them busy. With my boss' family and some friends here as well, we have plenty of help for the various events. I will be working with the pumpkin painting this afternoon. There are hayrides, face and nail painting, tie dying, trick or treating on the schedule as well as campsite decorating contest for today. Later this evening we will show a horror movie called "Attack of the Giant Leeches" and serve popcorn. Don't think I will stay to watch that movie though, gives me the creeps just thinking about it  On the agenda for tomorrow is coffee and donuts etc, announcement of the site decorating contest and everybody's heading for home. And we get to clean it all up after they leave, put the decoration away and call it a season. But what a way to end it with this great weather.

The weekend isn't starting out without problems this year however. On Thursday, a camper pulled up to our dumping station to fill up his water tank with water before heading to his campsite. Well, we have two water towers at our dump stations in MI. One for potable water and one for just rinsing sewer hoses or whatever. They are tall, made of steel pips about 3 inches or so in diameter, topped with a hose that fits to a large spring. You pull the hose down and the spring bends so you can reach it to your rig. Well, this camper got back into his rig and drove off without unhooking. I need not tell you what ensued from that point. Suffice to say,we have one less operating water tower at the moment. From what the staff who saw it said, everything went "kapoosh" andwater everywhere. My boss even had to call our one maintenance guy back in who was finished for the season to help get things under control. I was up camping at Aloha State Park, 40 miles away, so no help there.

Then yesterday, a camper came to our office and reported raw sewage and water on the ground near our one drainfield. My co-worker and I went and investigated and sure enough, sewage was coming our of one of the manhole covers. We reported it and the boss who was at a meeting about 20 miles away was notified. End result of that was, septic folks had to be called. One of our toilet/shower buildings and the dump station had to be shut down. When I left yesterday, they had been working on that drain for over two hours and had left to go get some heavier artillary. So don't know if they were able to repair it or not. Hopefully they don't have to dig up the field. Me thinks they probably went for the septic pumper truck as they were there with their regular equipment truck and trailer. Hopefull we are back in business this morning. Don't need that with a full house. So all kinds of fun to end the season with

But on a brighter note, we now have "Gramma Soos" instead of just "Soos". And she has a new baby grandson to adore, fuss over and tell us all about. How exciting. Loved the pictures from last night. Congratulations again Soos. Your long wait is over. And ours too for that matter. Some good news here at the moment.

With the nice weather sticking around for what looks like this entire coming week, I will be busy getting things ready for winter here. Want to do some quick painting of wood ties around my house and also a carriage silhouette that is up on my house wall. Will clean out the TT, put in the pink stuff, give it a good bath and cover it up for the winter. It just came back from a 5 day trip to Aloha State Park and I have to say it too was perfect. Everything on board worked just as they were supposed to. Had though about taking off on Monday again for a couple of days whie it's still nice, but decided that it's time to stop and put things away. Mom nature won't keep this weather aroun forever. Most of the parks in the northern lower and Upper Peninsula will be shutting down their water supplies and closing up their bathroom facilities within the next two weeks anyway.

So I'm off toe start getting ready to head for the park and the fall themed day. Have a wonderful day all.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Sounds as if your campground is closing up with a bang this year, Sue! Hope the Halloween celebration goes off in a fun manner with no more plumbing mishaps!

Another beautiful, sunny fall day out there, and about 38 degrees. I came up here to the house to let the pony-dogs out and feed them. Visiting hours at the hospital begin at 11:00, and Joe's sister and their two grandmas are coming today to see the new guy. I may stick around here until they go and then head over. Last night the baby was having trouble with low blood sugar, so they had put him on a slow drip to try to correct that. Poor Mandy and Joe went ballistic when they realized he had to be out of their bedroom in order to be monitored last night, and they were scared, of course. I, too, am concerned, even though the nurses all said that wih large c-section babies, this is not uncommon, and that by this morning he should be just fine. I slept fitfully, and am waiting to hear some news from the hospital or from the kids. I hope all is well this morning. In the meantime, I will go online and investigate low blood sugar in newborns.

All is well here at the house. Joe's mom is still sleeping after she got lost coming here last night from the hospital!

I will try to get some more pics today. Coffee is hot, so stop by and have a cup! I see there are still some pumpkin cake doughnuts here, too....I might try one of those.

So, I've been running the fridge all night, and it's not cool this morning.
I'm wondering, the temp knob is in the middle of the range, but I don't know which way to turn it to make it.

Judy just dropped in Tech Shop. Guess I'll be going out to Shoshone in December or January to help with the school.

Lots of talk of doing wind generators there.
