GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Rain and more rain after a pretty good day yesterday. Thundershower in early morning gave way to sun and warmth enough to enjoy clawing about my pool once again, in between carting chairs, tables, boxes of summer stuff, boxes of laundry, boxes of clothing to store until next summer up and down two flights of stairs. I also got the kids' huge bed upstairs washed and remade for them, re-nailed the rug down next to the door they left open thereby making it a giant sponge during Irene's visit, found a few new items to pack in the trailer, washed all bathrooms and the kitchen, went shopping at our local Ace Hardware store to get canning jars for Mandy, mailed out some bills via internet and one holdout bank loan via post office, and took Molly for a wonderful walk around our trails here. We saw turkeys, grouse, two deer, many songbirds amassing for their travels south, a couple of beavers, and the changing red maples to their namesake color.

Today I am off to visit an old friend who is staying with Issy up the road for coffee and muffins, and then back here to organize the trailer and pack stuff where I will be able to find it. I will pack the truck another day, when I drive back here on the weekends to do last-minute stuff---like get the house alarm guy back to change batteries and renew my subscription, have the porta potty removed, perhaps get some firewood, get the truck serviced and inspected, and I am sure I will think of other stuff to do. It's times like this when I sure do wish I had some extra arms and hands and another brain to help me out. Sigh!

Coffee is hot here, so stop by and tell us about what you can see out your windows this morning. Happy trails to all!

Happy travels!

I may have to take a nap after reading about all the work you have been doing Soos, you take Labor Day literally! I been dawdling this morning but did get Charley's nails trimmed and his front feet groomed. Not an easy job if you know how much hair a poodle has plus, he won't stand up long so most of his grooming is done with me sitting on the floor. He needs a bath but not sure we can get him in the tub his legs just aren't that steady. He has a vet appointment Wednesday and I'm hoping they will have something that will help more than the aspirin they recommended the last time I had him in.
It is a glorious cool cloudy day here, may not even get out of the sixties. Feels so good after last weeks 4 days of heat index around 105. I so hope that was the last heat wave of the year!! They promised rain but none so far and our yard is getting crispy. Meeting a friend later for a little shopping and coffee so best get the dog hair cleaned up and myself into shower.

I hope everyone has a perfect day.

My goodness! Yes, lots of labor in your labor day!

Mine's been pretty dull - still stuck in Dublin with a near dead transmission.
I'm hanging out in a Starbucks and working on the computer, and going slowly crazy.

Be glad when I'm outta here.

Soos is making me tired again. She does more in one day than I do all month.

My DH woke me up at 4 am scratching around. He was hearing something and thought it was a mouse. It was very windy and it sounded like the wall was creaking to me. If it had been a mouse the cats would have been all over that. I hope mice can't get into the walls.

We finally have some sun. We had a cold front come through and it is 83 instead of the usual high 90's. It's nice to be able to go outside without getting soaked with sweat. I might be able to start walking again. The last time I tried the dear flies swarmed me.

I decided to cook a roast for lunch. We usually pick up a plate lunch at a local grocery but I didn't know if they would be open. They put so much food on one that we can share one and not eat so much.

Better go find something to do. I can probably find a load of clothes to wash. The kitchen needs moping but I'm not that ambitious.

It was a rainy travel day for me. I passed up two historical sites/stops I had planned to make on my route. Instead I substituted two Walmart stops. Spent too much at the first; am camping/overnight parking at the second. And it's still raining.

I did fix myself a healthy fresh veggie pizza, using a wheat tortilla as the crust....all on the stove top. Pretty yummy. I may have to repeat that for a few days to make sure all the fresh veggies I bought don't go bad.

I finally bought a set of awning tie-downs that Nan told me about, and I have seen others use. Will probably use them when I'm staying in a place several days. I do appreciate the awning now that I've mastered putting it up and down quickly.

We'll see what tomorrow brings, but I should be somewhere in PA tomorrow night.

Soos - you made me feel like bum for wasting today when I've got so much that needs to be done. Proud of you tho.

Liz - Good to know your are settled safely in for the night.

Barbie - your new place sounds great, especially the fountain outside window.

It has been rain, rain, and more rain here as we get what's left of LEE. My area of town has received about 4.5 inches of rain since noon Sunday with another 3 to 6 inches expected over next day or so. Some nearby isolated areas have had over 9 inches of rain already (Grant, Guntersville, Cullman to name a few for those familiar with the area). A few roads/streets closed already due to flooding. Flood watch/warning extends until Thursday AM for most of the rivers and streams in north AL. Until a few hours ago, the wind here wasn't too bad but it sure has picked up. Forecast was for 30 to 50 mph winds - don't think it has been quite that high yet.. Cannot believe after all the tree work I had done last week, the last big gust a few minutes ago broke another good size limb and it fell across driveway about 2 feet in front of van. Not sure how I'm going to get it moved in the morning.

Stay safe and dry.

Kind of late for posting today but better late than never, right?

It felt like a typical Minnesota Labor Day here today. Cool, rainy and humid. Rained off and on all day, which is good because there have been quite a few brush fires out here in the past week or so. The rest of the week is supposed to be sunny and very hot, even close to 100 down here. Hope the humidity goes away.

Was only at work for a few hours but very slow there today so they sent me home early. I checked out some shopping centers around the area to see where things are. Then went home and emptied out and packed away some boxes. Will do more tomorrow on my day off.

Gonna go find something to eat now. My tummy is growling! Hope you all had a good day! (Soos, you really need to slow down! You are retired now, remember?)
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
