MIDDLE OF AUGUST TUESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

MIDDLE OF AUGUST TUESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:30 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

NO rain yet, this morning, afer a long night of more steady rain. My rain gauge says we got only 2 inches of rain, but it was the steadiness of the soft falling that has made it very old for me at this point! Enough of this staying in and doing indoor chores and activities----I feel as if bed sores could be developing! (Or, at least, butt sores!)

I plan to pick the wet blueberries this morning, and then tackle the party barn to make sure things are all spiffied up out there for the Ruckus. I also need to go for a walk, remaining showers, or not, to make sure my legs still work!

I am really getting excited to see you all at the Ruckus in The Mountains come next weekend! All those of you on the roads drive carefully and safely! Those of you trapped in relentless heat and/or rains, may you find something fun to do in an inside environment.

Coffee is hot, so stop in and talk a bit....Happy Tuesday!

Dang----that new horrible ad to get people to stop smoking is on TV again, and it always takes my breath away and leaves me terrified. PLEASE, if any of you still smoke, stop immediately.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning! I'm up early today, gotta head to the hospital in a little bit. Ronnie's Dad had angioplasty done today on his heart blockage...well, I just got off the phone with Ronnie's Mom, the docs didn't find any blockage at all. I thought they had, that's why they were doing this procedure, but we get such off the wall stories from his Mom, we just never know. She said she was worried about him having an aneurysm from when he fell, :o "What, when did he fall?", "oh when he was a kid, he fell". :?

With that done, I'll ask for prayers/good thoughts for my cousin, Patsy. After years of riding with her brother on the back of his motorcycle, she decided at 70yo to buy her own. He was driving, her on the back, (both with helments)when they somehow crashed. He had a broke leg, but she is in more serious condition. She spoke right after the accident, but was non responsive by the time EMT's got there. They airlifted her to Lake Charles to the hospital, then on to Baton Rouge. She has multiple pelvic and head injuries. Still non responsive, they did a cat scan and eeg and was to do another one on Monday (haven't heard results yet) They put a feeding tube in and have begun turning her, it's not looking good, I'm thinking if they don't find any change in the test results they'll make the decision to let her go, but we'll have to wait and see what the decision is.

Sorry to hear about your cousin.

Regarding Ronnie's dad, I started going with my mother to the doctor when she was about 80 because I discovered she was telling the doctor strange things--like about something that happened 30 years before instead of the previous week. She also used to misinterpret questions, like did she walk a lot. (Her idea of walking a lot was from her chair to the bathroom.)

My aunt used to take her but never actually went into the examing room with her, which was dangerous because of the stories she used to tell the doctor. She would be proud about how she had "fooled" him about what was really happening.

Rough getting old. I suppose one of these days someone will have to supervise me with the doctor!

Good morning everyone ... :)

It's still morning here, but for lots of you, you're probably having lunch. And trying to stay cool. Well, we'll be joining you in the next day or so here in So. CA with the hot weather. Looks like we'll be close to triple digits by tomorrow, and in some areas they'll see them today. Good thing I don't have to be outdoors.

Vickie, my prayers are with your family and the medical team taking care of your cousin. Making the decision to allow someone to die is never easy, but sometimes it's far better than the alternative. Both my mom's sister and my dad were taken off of life support, and I was grateful that the option was there for them. Keep us posted as you can ...

I just wrote a long paragraph about anticipating going back to school without the supplies I need to do my job. And then I thought that it's not going to change anything so why bother whining. It is what it is and somehow we'll make it through another year.

But for today I'm going to enjoy my cross-stitching and the fact that I get to do what I want. School will be here sooner than I like so until then I'm going to pretend it's always summer! :)

Have a great day everyone.

Wow, Vickie, you've got lots of stuff on your mind! I hope things take a turn for the better for your cousin. Like they say about motorcycles and crashing, it's not "if" but "when".

Also sounds like Ronnie's mom has a bit of dementia going on. They can confuse current things with things from the past. I hope his dad recovers quickly. My mom had lots of angioplasties.

It is only 75 here right now, but supposed to hit 100 today and for the next several days here. Oh joy! I am starting to get cabin fever from being inside all the time! So can't wait to get down to SD where it is 15 degrees cooler than here (the ocean is about 20 degrees cooler!)!

Yesterday was really busy at work. They called me in early. Luckily it slowed down last night since it was just me and the new girl who just got out of beauty school, working together. She is very slow yet and often needs assistance with her cuts, so it wouldn't have been good if we had been really busy. Tips have been really good the past few days! Really needing that extra money right now!

Soos, I hope the rain stops soon so your Ruckus doesn't get rained on! (or get muddy!)
Be careful getting rid of the hornets! Did you ever get an epi pen? How is your SIL's hand?

Have a great day!

Afternoon has just passed... Oh Vickie I will keep your family in prayer... such hard times... Barbie I hope your move goes smoothly... hope the Ruckus goes well Soos...
I got up very late today so had goulash that was left over... my daughter came over and we went over finances to see if I would be better off in a senior center... It looks like staying here will be the best option... and there is not a dime to spare...
Life is a puzzle hoping to find the right piece to put in place now...
Have a great day everyone...

It's back into the triple digits, temperature wise. Boy was that short lived. We will be back on the excessive heat watch tomorrow. Back into hibernation I go! I still have little projects to do around here, so will keep busy. All of the de-cluttering has filled up the garage. That will have to wait until it is colder. At least the house will be clutter free. :D

Vickie, sorry to hear of your cousins accident. Healing thoughts being sent to her and to Ronnie's dad. I hope his surgery goes well.

To all of your traveling, stay safe. Those of us in the hot weather, stay as cool as can be.

To the GTG sistahs, have a good time.

Kathleen - I'm doing the same thing with my mom, trying to figure out the best choices for her as she ages (she'll be 77 in October). We're selling our place to head off to the Keys next Spring and I asked her if we decide to stay down there does she want to come too; an emphatic yes followed. :D

very late and very quick check in.

Dealing with aging parents is really tough. My mom lived 4 years after her stroke. Taking care of her really disrupted my older brother's family.

Back home from the convention, I've got Tom coming to replace the exhaust manifold today.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, my cousin passed away at 4 this afternoon. I did find out that she was driving and her brother was on the back, that helped me understand why she had the majority of the injuries. She came to a T in the road and didn't stop, went straight into the trees. Her having a new bike, I'm not sure if it was operator error, panic or a malfunction with the bike.

Ronnie's Dad was released at 3 today, just an out patient procedure. He will do blood work on Friday.

Barbie, his Mom doesn't have dementia, she has hypochondriac syndrome.

Vickie, sad to hear about your cousin. Hoping that all goes well with Ronnie's dad. I'm the opposite of a hypochondriac and tend to let things go, assuming it will all work out  carold

Here to some extra strength to make it through your day.....and the events as they follow. I can imagine that family see you as one of those last "man" standing sort of individuals that they rely on to help them through.....here is to your wisdom of not taking on more than you can or need to handle.
