VERY LATE SUNDAY MORNING

GOOD VERY LATE MORNING WITH NOBODY GETTING COFFEE!

I was up bright and early to see if Mandy's Joe had gone to Urgi care yet, and he hadn't gone last night when I told him it was URGENT that he go. He was in charge of skewering the pig for the roast yesterday at our local deli/gas station in Vermontville, when he slipped and skewered the back of his hand to the bone, as he described it. When I asked to look at it yesterday afternoon at the music fest/pig roast and cookout there, I about flipped. It was the neatest, largest puncture wound I have ever seen----on the outside, you could barely see where it went in, totally sealed over, but his hand looked like mine after the hornet sting in my arm---ALREADY----just a couple of hours later. I told him I would drive him to Urgi-Care, pronto, and he told me to go fly a kite, as much, and that he would go later after his family GTG. Then, after we got home from the Roy Hurd music concert in Jay Park last night, and the kids finally got back here, I asked him what the doctor had done----HE HADN'T GONE YET! I blew my stack and threatened to call his mother and see what she could do with him. He said if I did that it was over between him and me. I said I wanted him around for the birth of his son with TWO GOOD HANDS, let alone ALIVE. Mandy was not able to convince him until he awoke this morning with a serious infection that will undoubtedly need to be lanced and drained, antibiotics administered (IF they will work) and a tetanus shot given. They just got out of here, and I am really worried on top of being furious.

So then----it's Sunday, beautiful and warm out, 82 already, sunny mostly, and I have to worry about that damn kid. Sigh. Please let it be less serious than my mind knows it is.

Coffee is ready, and I am about to hit the blueberry picking fields to let off some steam. If you hear about a brush fire in Vermontville, y'all will know what caused it!

Wow Soos, that's some hard headed SIL you have! I bet Mandy is equally furious at him. I hope he is not about to learn a really hard lesson.

It is THE most beautiful morning here, it is only 70 degrees at almost 10:30!!! And the best part very low humidity. I hope these cool breezes blow down to the rest of you that are still locked in the awful heat.

I had to miss church this morning, they cleaned the carpet this week so I'll have to wait until it airs out awhile. I need to drive my RV around as the batteries are at 1/3, I noticed my LP detector light was out yesterday as I was organizing 'stuff' in it. I called the place I bought it and they said sometimes a fuse will blow if the batteries get low. Hummm now to find which one and what kind of fuse I need, I'm sure they will tell me when I stop at the RV repair place tomorrow. I think I'll take a drive to some of the wineries this afternoon and stop for homemade peach cobbler at one of the orchards. Yep, I'm really going to eat non-organic peaches :o

Wow Soos! Puncture wounds almost always get infected. They are nasty! I sure hope he will heal up OK. Why are men SO stubborn when it comes to their health? Let us know how he is doing after the UC visit...

Just had some blueberry cheesecake Activia for breakfast. With real blueberries in it! Yum! Last night I stopped for dinner at Carrows and brought home some peach cobbler which I will bring to work today for my treat.

Yesterday was fairly quiet at work until the last two hours and then it got swamped (why does everyone wait until the last minute to get their hair cut?) so I ended up staying past my shift to help out.

Stopped after work to get a dewormer for Lola. Giving her the pill reminded me of that humorous description of "How to give your cat a pill" scenerio! Finally got it in her (after searching all over the apartment to see if she spit it out again somewhere!). Hope it works. Only get three pills in the bottle (for $22!) and I used up two trying to get just one in her!

This morning I woke up with my eyes almost swollen shut. Not sure what brought that on. I used a new astringent on my face last night so that might be it. Been putting on a cold wash cloth to tame it down before I head to work later.

I called my dad the other day and he sounded good. He was very glad to hear from me. He sounded excited about my plans to move and I told him I would send him some pics, which he was happy about.

It has been nice here the past week with temps in the mid 80's but now is supposed to go back up around 100 this week and some humidity with it.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday!

We have had our lowest temperature in 75 days at 93. It sure beats 110 +. The wind has changed and is coming from the north/northeast now. Lets hope it stays around for awhile.

ACK Soos. that sure sounds nasty.

Barbie, I know what you mean about giving pills to our furbabies. Cooper usually takes the heart worm pill and then spits it out and rolls all over it. I pick it up and give it to her again, same thing. They are the chewable ones and the other 2 puppies just eat them. I then smash it up and mix it with a little applesauce so she will eat it. Then the other two want to have what Cooper is having. It's never ending.

Take care all those traveling and stay cool to those still in the hot zone. Linda

Men! He could have flushed it with something before it swelled up but he needs a tetanus shot. After Hurricane Rita the health unit was recommending people that were working in all the mess get a tetanus booster and some other shot. I forget what the other one was. My sister and I went but my DH wouldn't. I have always thought he should keep his up to date because he works around horses.

Three of the house cats went out for a little while and now they are spread out on the tile floor cooling off. I looked to see what the temperature was and it said 106 but then I remembered my DH was cooking on the grill and it's beside the outside thing. Don't know what it really is but it's hot.

Readytotry, when you find out what kind of fuse you need you might think about getting some spares. I think most of the fuses are the automotive kind. I keep a supply of the different sizes. Fuses are usually easy to change and come in handy when you are in the middle of nowhere.

Update on pig wound!
Mandy just got back, and the x-rays they took of Joe's hand showed no bone damage, thank heavens, that they can see, so they opted to give him a powerful antibiotic shot, plus a shot which would be given to someone bitten by a live pig, a tetanus shot, and 10 days worth of antiobiotic pills. Of course, they asked him why he waitied so long to come in as it gave the infection a good head start. He has to go back tomorrow to make sure it doesn't need to be opened up. So far, so good, but infections are unpredictable and can be very agressively nasty.

Just as I started my lawnmower, the rain drops as big as saucers began to fall, but I managed to get a good part of this front grass area mowed. I also got soaked to the skin, and so now am sitting inside, listening to the distant thundershowers. The sky is quite black to the north, and I hope the worst weather stays up there!

Glad you got a worm pill into Lola, Barbie! Wish I could have seen that scenario!

Happy afternon to all.
