Morning all! Scrambled eggs and ice tea here. Continues HOT.

But I'm going to the mountains. Hiking in AM and kayaking
in PM. Is that a perfect day?

Hope you have a fun day too!

This is a late-starting thread! Good morning everyone. Had Greek yogurt with strawberries & walnuts this morning. YUM.

I'm confused. Was going to go on a long bike ride with a new/old Facebook friend this morning, but I woke up with the top of my instep just hurting so bad. I didn't ride yesterday, didn't hurt myself. I can't figure this out. It's right in the "power" portion of the foot (as in, I can't pedal), so we'll have to reschedule. #@!$%.

Went to the planning meeting for the river trip over the 4th of July weekend. I didn't know most of the people there. The water's gonna be fast and high ... which likely means whatever rapids there are will be washed out. Twenty of us are going, so should be lots of fun. Can't wait to be back on "river time."

Good morning Everyone, Thanks Diana, but I've had my cereal with fruit, but scrambled eggs sounds good. Haven't had any in a while, hmmm , maybe tomorrow morning ;)
Rainy here this morning, not sure what this day will bring, several things popping around in my head, but all of them involve dealing with WET DAY. None of them are the fun stuff, enjoy your day, sounds like a really good one, Diana.

I hope everyone has a Great day, and squeeze some fun time in there somewhere.
Take care and Stay safe all,
CArol :)

Water fun is coming soon. Kayaking to day or river running over the 4th. All sounds good to me! Still in packing mode here in Ohio. One grocery trip still on the list and after last night I had to add a vet appt for Blondie. She has managed to get a Ewweeee hot spot on her neck under where her collar (that she isn't suppose to wear all the time b/c she gets HS easily but apparently her idol, the sits in the recliner man, didn't remember and I didn't pay attention, sigh :? ) I bathed her and finished clipping the hair to the skin so it looks a lot better and drier this morning but I am hoping that the swelling is just from infection and not something more .....that antibiotics will be all that is needed. Remi got buzzed down to. I told him it was a summer travel buzz and all the dogs were doing it. He said he just looked neekid :) and he didn't notice any clippers near the big red dog's body but he soon bounced off and all was forgiven. Off to work on the before "launch" list. Change the angle of the back up camera is one of the things I thought might be useful, so I can see I little farther behind both the Short Bus and the Hond Fit. The other question of the day is how best to pack both kayaks? I feel lucky to have such a problem. :) Travel safe, be well and find some good adventures. As Shel Silverstein wrote, ".....All the magic I have found I've had to make myself." A lot depends on on if you are even looking.....

Good morning Diana, Janice and Carol and those that follow on here. Another free day here at the National Fleetwood Motorhome Rally in Shawnee, OK. ladies I am surronded by milllions of dollars worth of RV's. I look out the front window and see an Allegiance, Eagle, Eagle, Revolution (American Coach part of Fleetwood) and say hhhmmm that's over a million dollars worth of RV's when they are new. They are so beautiful built and all, of course, are full body paint and wow that's something to see. My little Jamboree just sits here and blinks it's little eyes and sez, I have all the same necessary things they have! They just have more other things I don't have room for. Will go explore some parts of the area today before it hits 100. I am parkedunder the pecan trees and it is cool even when it is hot.

Tina I sometimes put the kayak in the passenger seat of the rig. I understand that is actually Herschel's seat, but he might give it up for a second kayak. You might look and see if one of the front seats in the Fit will move back and lay back enough that you could put the Element in there. It doesn't matter if you can't see out the window because you will be towing. Worth looking at....good luck.

So all have a good breakfast and a great day. If you are traveling, be sure to be safe, if you are parked, be sure to have fun....lots of it.

Good morning ladies!

It's an overcast day on the eastern shore of MD with temperatures in the 80's right now and we'll top off around the 90 degree mark later in the day.

Two days left in the work week for me and then the weekend begins. I talked to my sister yesterday, who is still in rehab recuperating from her broken ankle. The phones/switchboard where on the fritz for almost 48 hours where she is and it was nice being able to finally talk to her. Her surgeon at Shock Trauma said she can go home next week Wednesday, which she is looking forward to. Steve & I will be spending the day with her Saturday while the rest of the family will be attending the family reunion. Our reunions are small, a total of 27 if everyone attends, as the majority of our relatives live in Germany. I don't want to have my sister laying in bed with her leg in traction and be alone, so I'm going to fix a picnic basket and spend some time with her.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you are doing.

Good morning all!

Well, my first week of vacation has been delightful. After the expensive start with my AC I've enjoyed putzing around the house, working on little projects that have been put off for too long. One of them is getting out my cross-stitching. I used to spend hours working on various patterns but when Jed came along as a puppy I put it away. Well, now that he's settled down I've taken it out again and realized how much I enjoy it. The only problem is that my bifocals aren't strong enough to comfortably see the canvas! :( So I'm going to go look for some paste-on bifocals that I can put on to a pair of my old single-vision glasses. Hopefully they'll do the trick & I can stitch and still watch TV (which is what I like to do in the evenings).

I'm thinking about putting a pondless water feature in my backyard. Still haven't wrapped my little brain around it, but I keep thinking about it. A fair amount of digging would be in order & the place I want to put it is filled with rocks -- not fun.

I've decided that this is the summer to explore my freezer, too. ;) There are things in there that need to either be eaten or thrown away. Same thing with my pantry. So my cooking will be pretty creative -- and hopefully not too toxic. There's actually some pretty good stuff in the freezer so I'm looking forward to some good grilled meals, augmented with purchases from the many farmers' markets we have. Love summer produce!

So, that's my rambling recap of someone on vacation. Exciting, isn't it. :)

Good Morning

By the time I got up my DH had already been to town and brought me a grilled biscuit with sausage. I finally got up enough gumption to tell him not to bring me any more bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Guess he likes me fat.

We finally got a real rain. I had to go to the dentist yesterday and almost got caught in some street flooding. We got about 2 3/4 inches at home and more is on the way. It seems like the grass greened up overnight.

Laura, the mystery food in the freezer is why I put off getting a freezer for 5 years. I always think I will remember what is in the container so half the time I don't label things. Of course I have forgotten what it is when I start looking for something. I have a counter top fountain in my bathroom. The cats love to drink out of it and play with the running water. It uses a lot of distilled water so I don't run it all the time but I like to hear the water. I was watching some show on PBS yesterday about using tubes of dirt to make above ground beds and they even used them to make a fountain. They didn't have to do so much digging and plants can be planted right in the tubes. The liner is put inside the tubes so part of the pond is above ground.

My DH hasn't thought about clipping the dog yet. That job usually falls to me and we don't have good clippers anymore. His dog is a Border Collie and I think they are too pretty to clip. It takes all summer and fall for his hair to grow back.
