Good morning everyone!
Coffee & tea are on and there is a plate of fresh doughnuts and fruit for those that would like breakfast.
The weather here has cooled off and the haze in the air is gone. I woke up to temperatures in the high 60's and we're only going to get into the mid 80's today. A breeze is blowing and it is absolutely gorgeous outside.
I called my parents yesterday and invited them to our house one day this weekend for a barbecue. They are looking forward to coming. Hubby will drive to their house to pick them up as my father rarely drives anymore and my Mom is legally blind. We'll be able to entertain them in our gazebo in the backyard. I'm thinking along the lines of having surf & turf but can't decide if I should make crabcakes or crab imperial. I'll make potato salad and a green bean salad and we'll have something for dessert. There will be plenty of leftovers for them to take home with them.
For those on the road, travel safely. For those at home, have a wonderful day!

No rain or storms came through Lancaster County, PA yesterday but overnight the humidity dropped anyway. So instead of sweating on my walk, I have a sweatshirt on hahaha. It was an earlier and shorter than normal walk because I had a breakfast meeting at 7:50. I'm back, have stripped the bed and gotten my laundry together. Such excitement. But while it's all ready to go, I sit here reading the forum and watching the birds.
While it's hard to believe we're already in June, I can't wait for my short stay at the early PA gtg coming up soon. Nothing better than getting together with forum friends new and old

Beth, you want me to send you some of our heat? It's suppose to be 102 today and it's already 93. I have been whining about the wind, well today there is no breeze and it's like an oven outside.
My DH drove to the little local grocery store and got us bacon sandwiches for breakfast. I keep meaning to tell them not to bring me those things but they are so good. I don't know if it's a good thing for him to be driving. After all the complaining he has done, it has only been 6 and a half weeks since his knee surgery. It sure seems like it has been longer. lol Some guy at physical therapy that is "worse off than him" is driving so he has cleared himself to drive. Look out world!
Don't know what I will do today. Need to try to find the paperwork that came with an adjustable bed that we bought 5 years ago because it quit adjusting. There is no brand name at all on the bed frame or motors.

Morning all!
Beth, how about I join Acadiamom and send you some of this TN heat? Going to 96 here today!
Just finished turning in my last set of gradebooks and turned in my room keys. All the walls are bare and cabinets empty. Usually I'm scrambling to pack all the stuff up and store it for summer. Now I'm just sitting at my desk and watching some of the younger/newer teachers comb through and take what they can use in their rooms. No sense throwing anything away. They just keep asking if I'm sure I won't need these things. My reply, "If I can't use it in a 26 ft. RV then I am not taking it."
Had a wonderful surprise at my retirement gathering last night. Sunshine "Carolyn" was in town and joined us for a while. Of course she and the Goddess already knew each other (they are both state retirees) but some of my teacher friends just met her and yes, they loved her. She talked a lot about the cruise/gtg for her birthday and I have to admit it sounds like fun. Gotta sell the sticks/bricks first though. Then we'll see.
Thanks for the coffee though I'm not usually a coffee drinker but I confess to drinking a little bit last night!
See ya on the road soon.

Good morning. Two more days of school (work). Then I can concentrate on the three classes I'll be taking this summer. Wheeeee.....
Coffee and a pain killer for breakfast this morning. Had my last "fill" yesterday. Good thing I'm not going huge because these are pretty painful. Although, anything bigger than I was will still be huge to me. Can't wear a swimsuit this summer because the expanders make me look deformed. Looking on the bright side, I'll never have to have a mammogram again.
Planning a trip to Durango in a few weeks. It will be nice to get back out on the road and wander a bit.
Happy Thursday to all!

I guess if I wear a sweatshirt, everyone thinks it's cold here. Certainly not. It's been in the 90's and hot the last few days. I don't mind 90's, even 100's in the desert, but with 65% and higher humidity, even I find it hot. Today, the humidity dropped so 68 at 7 this morning meant a sweatshirt for my walk, and I'm wearing one inside, as I'm in the shade and the breeze is coming through. Past couple days ac was on all day. Today - fresh breezes. You can keep the muggy heat down there - I will let you
Course, I expect it to come back here, but hopefully not too often. Hopefully. The birds agree with me. They were sparse the last couple days and are here in abundance this morning - singing and chirping and eating.

I am in a "catch 22" here in the high country of south eastern Oregon. It has been continual snow showers for days here. The whole northwest has had rediculously wet and cold weather, these are record breaking stats for Spring. So, I have wheels and can move any time I want except my next destination into Nevada on my lazy way to Utah to Zion and Bryce, etc. sends me over a pass that was on the news yesterday with snow-related backups, jackknifes and fender-benders. The other route takes me into California at the base of Mt Shasta and snow there too and that just isn't the route I want. So, I will stick to my original plan to leave on June 15. I can ony assume the weather should improve by mid June.
It's been windy, cold, with snowy thunderstorms so I have been excerciseless...But, yesterday I took a walk way up into the hills. Saw lots of deer, coyote pups again, Of course the higher mountains are right there so snow showers came blowing down off the mountain and snowed all over me as I headed back....it was 53 degrees out at the time...isn't that the strangest thing? The snow shower was just forced down off the mountain and off course, it didn't stick; that was a first for me. Looking forward to June 15.

Morning,
Good to see all the gals at the table this AM. (10:30 AM here). I have yet to eat something but bought some fresh raspberries yesterday so will certainly chow down on those.
I just saw on the news that Mass. got a horrific tornado yesterday. Do we have forum sisters near there? I was thinking Paulette lived in Mass. Also flooding is going on in S Dak and Montana, and it's going to get much worse with the 800% snowfall yet still to melt. What a mess around the country.
The sun just broke thru and is shining thru my window, almost blinding, but sure makes the soul lift.
This weekend is our subdivision's annual garage sale. I don't have anything to set out but am glad the weather is suppose to co operate for the others.
Nothing else much going on. Have a blessed day everyone!

Good afternoon, barely missed morning here. Have been up since before 6; a restless night. worried about a couple of things plus had some chicken fingers for dinner (rarely eat anything fried) and think they had a boxing match overnight.
We are under an extreme heat advisory as heat index is expected to hit 105 today. So far our fragile power system is holding; everyone is very thankful for that these days and most must be following the appeal of utility company to conserve power as much as possible.
I wouldn't go out today except for needing to get my sister to doctor late this afternoon. She has been doing well until a couple of days ago; now seems to be on a rapid down hill slide again. This will be 1st appointment with new doctor (lost her primary doctor earlier this year when she dropped Medicare clients). Am hopeful this new doctor can help her; I will not be surprised if she wants to put her back in hospital but not sure sister will agree to go.
Soos - So good to read you are making great progress on your way north and that you have relaxed enough to enjoy the journey.
More great news: a working refrigerator!
HorizonSeeker Time to party with retirement this week! I agree we should send some of this heat north. If Beth doesn't need it, sounds like KD, others in NW might welcome the warmth.
I've fallen behind on welcoming our new members - sorry ladies but I will go read all the intros and extend my welcome here. Don't forget to check out the member map ( first topic under General heading) to see if anyone near you or along a route you might be traveling. Also, if you would like to be included on the map, you need to notify Mitch or VickieP as inclusion is not automatic.
Safe travels to all

Too hot on sunporch, if I lay on bed Ill get sleepy. So sitting at the computer! Or I could go somewhere! Everybody deal with whatever strange weather you have the best you can, those traveling stay safe, those not find something fun to do. Will check in later to get report on THe DRIVER's surgury. Wendy
