SOUTH CAROLINA!

[b]GOOD MORNING CAROL AND ALL!

Mandy and I are in Yemassee, SC, at Point South KOA! Free WiFi, free cable, water and electricity, functioning pool, clean showers and bathrooms, beautiful walking areas around what appear to be man-made lakes in the woods, dog walk----all in all a beautiful stopover spot. They had a pizza special last night, right here in the office/cafe area----2 pizzas, one a regular supper one, and the other a breakfast pizza (eggs, two kinds of cheese, bacon, sausage and whatever other toppings you choose delivered to your site in the morning, 2 liter bottle of soda of your choice----for 15.00 bucks! They also had a wine-tasting hour later on, which we both declined---Mandy because she is pregnant, and me because I hate wine.

We arrived here at about 4:00 pm, after a very sparse traffic day on 95, and used all the facilities, including the pool. I will keep this spot in memory for when/if I ever come back this way on my own. We covered about 300 miles, with no problems getting gas or getting snacks or getting in and out of gas stations----we chose truck stops.

We will be eating our morning pizza soon, and then hitting the road to do the Carolinas today. Should be in VA tonight.

Hope all is well with you and your families----off we go!

Good Morning All !!!

Soos, so glad to see your post, have been wondering how your trip was going. Sounds good, stay safe and have a great trip.

Supposed to be really hot here today, breaking records. I have no idea what happened to Spring. I'm freezing one day and the next I'm way tooo warm :) . To much work to do around here, wish I could run away. Most of you know I have a small cabin, that I have let a church friend live in for over 8 years, mostly so I had someone to call on if I had something I needed a little help with and to have someone else on the property in the middle of the night, and when I traveled someone was here. Well, last Thurs. went and had my hair fixed and came home and he had left all the keys and he had moved out !!!! No notice, and I never saw him move a thing. Not sure what his problem was, but I don't care for sneaks and the bills he left me with and the nasty place.

I keep thinking things will get better, but here lately seems to be on the down hill side of better :) .

I am behind on reading the forum, I just hope you all are well. Carolyn, think of you there in La. , hope all will be well for you. I think of many of you, and must set down and find out what you all are up to.

Take care everyone, stay safe and don't stay out in the hot sun too long.
CArol :)

Good morning Soos, CArol & everyone!

Soos, it's great hearing from you! It looks like you are going to have good weather for the rest of your trip north, so enjoy the drive.

CArol, that is such a shame for your friend to skip out on you like that. I hope you don't have too much work to do on the cabin to get it cleaned up.

It's another warm day in MD and we're going to have above normal temperatures for another week to 10 days. We sure could use some rain. Despite the lack of rain, I was surprised to see how nice the vegetable garden looked yesterday after being gone for 3 days without watering them. They got a good dousing yesterday evening and I'll continue to water them. I can't wait for the first cucumber or squash! The tomatoes and corn will still take awhile, but I'll wait.

My parents and sister are all coming along. I need to get some groceries together to prepare some meals for my parents and check in on my sister as well.

Take care everyone and enjoy whatever you're doing.

Good Morning all

Soos - Sounds like you found a perfect spot for first night out. Did you take photos for us?? Enjoy your trip home.

Carol - So sorry to hear about your helper disappearing. Hope you find someone better soon.

I got my wish for a quite, peaceful holiday weekend. Except for being way too hot, even the weather cooperated. I even managed to get a few large pots of flowers planted along the back porch and so far the chipmunks have not dug them up.

Among other things while Liz was here, she planted some grass for me (and Nicky) in an area about 10x30 feet in back yard. I waited until I returned from Carol's to fertilize and start watering it. It is sprouting and I promised Liz a progress report so here's a photo. (I tried small photo but grass did not show up so replaced with larger image)

Hope all of you have a great week.

Glad to hear the trip is going well Soos, maybe you worried all the bad things away before you left! Carol so sorry the person you thought was your friend treated you so badly, it seems that you can't help some people and sadly a lot of those types come to churches for the purpose of taking advantage of good people. I'm watching with a hopeful yet wary eye a situation going on in our church right now.

I've got a lot done this morning an it's only a little after nine. When it's hot like this I try to get as much as I can done early, so bread is baking in my little machine, dogs and I are fed, and Andy had a haircut. I mention to DH he should get my little buddy before he left for the gym and pointed to the grooming table. Andy was in the other room and as DH went to get him he was already heading to his hiding place! It never ceased to amaze me how much they understand.

Grass is looking good Sarah, glad you had a good weekend.

Oh Soos glad to hear from you and know you are on your way home... what a great trip you will have... hope the rain and storms will not be in the area you are traveling...
Carol that is simply wrong but there are so many people that have no thought of what they do... Hope you get things in shape soon... maybe find someone else that can keep the place up in better shape...
Irmi glad you had a relaxing time... always good to get away...
Nice patch for grass Sarah... but there is so much shade do you think it will grow?
Red Shadow needs trimming you can come over when ever you want to... he also needs his nails cut...

Soos, glad to hear that you are having a good trip so far. That's a great deal on the pizzas. Nice to let someone else cook when you have been on the road all day. That sounds like a good KOA. I stayed at a couple going and coming from New Jersey and they were very overpriced with no extras. One didn't even have level sites.

Carol, sorry to hear that the guy treated you like that. Like others said, you just can't help some people. We let a young couple live in an old tenant house on the property for 6 or 8 years just so we weren't bothered with people trying to rent it. It wasn't in great shape and we didn't want to deal with renters. They had big plans before they moved in, going to fix the kitchen and bath and paint. About a fourth of the front got painted and it stayed like that for the rest of the time. They got mad because we ask them to not let kids visiting them play in an old barn.

I bought some grass seed to plant in some bare spots but that darn seed just won't plant itself. Now it's so dry I don't know if I could get it to come up.
