Sunny Sunday

Good Morning!
Opening the kitchen is a first for me but there is coffee and plenty of fresh fruit. Be forewarned about the coffee as I use a dark roast and like it on the strong side.

Am off to a great start on my wish for a calm, quite weekend. Weather has been near perfect for past two days and two more are in the forecast. Heading for mid 90s makes it a bit uncomfortable by noon. Took me a few minutes this morning as I was having coffee on porch to realize that all I heard was birds singing; no chain saws buzzing (last Thursday storm took down several more nearby trees). All of the limbs are finally cleaned up from my yard, including the rocks out front (hired someone for that job); just some sticks and twigs left to deal with at some point. There have been no power outages or family crisis in the last 48 hours; life is certainly improving.

Insurance adjustor came by yesterday to inspect roof for hail damage. He thinks they may want to patch it rather than replace it but won't know for sure for a while. Seems the trees may have protected some areas while other places took a real beating. This guy is a contractor from CA and first time working in south or seeing tornado damage. He even admitted having difficulty judging damage as the swirling winds loaded with hail don't leave a pattern he is familiar with for hail. He says he simply sends his report back to insurance home office and they have to make the determination from there. If they want to patch, I may try to get a second opinion (not sure if they do that or not).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend whatever you are doing.

Good morning everyone!

Well, we had a torrential downpour for about 3 minutes and then it quit. I hope that's all we get because I just washed my car from the last late-season rain. We simply don't get rain this late in the Spring, so everyone's scratching their head. We're taking 65 fifth graders hiking on Wednesday & sure hope the weather behaves. Rain will definitely cancel.

I've got 14 more days of school left with more things to get done than I like to think about. This is the busiest time of the year for us, largely because we have our Open House 2 weeks before school's out. The school district mandates when we have it, and they like to wait until after state testing is over. We just want to be done with the whole mess and get our rooms packed up for the summer.

So I'm going to enjoy my long weekend. :) I might get my report cards done (grades just don't change that much for elementary-age kids) which will be one more pea off my plate. And I might take a field trip out to Bass Pro Shop just because I can. And I might make some brownies because there's a mix in my pantry that's begging to be used. Who knows what kind of trouble I'll get into! :)

I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning!

I love that dark roast coffee, more please! :D

Just getting on the computer. Hubby has been in Corpus since Friday afternoon to visit his brother. Brother and wife won't allow dogs in their house, so I stayed in Rockport with Stan. Kind of nice to have some me time. Well, me and Stan. ;) and me and daughter, son-in-law and grandson. And some just plain me. Made a pot of coffee and read my book this morning. Walked the dog, and now got to get some work done. Randy will be back this afternoon and just called to let me know I may be hosting a bbq for his brother and family this afternoon. The quiet will be done in a big way - LOL. I don't mind.

I'm trying to figure out how this heat and humidity is hanging in the air. It's overcast and quite breezy, yet still 82 degrees and humid, humid, humid. How does that happen?

Well, on to enjoy my quiet for about another 90 minutes - then grandson will be here.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning all. Seems like a lazy Sunday morning for some :D We parked our RV for 3 nights and headed into San Francisco yesterday for a few days in a city. Lived here in 1966 and haven't been back since, so thought we'd take a look around. Took a bus (hop on and off) around in the aft to try and re-acquaint myself with the layout and to see if I recognized anything. As expected, some things the same and some not but it was just a quick looksee, so today we will take a more leisurely walk and maybe see some of the museums as well as various neighborhoods. Weather is ok, highs in 50's-low 60's, breezy with some chance of showers-not too bad for here. tGM brought me some coffee and pastries to start the day, so now to get going. Have a good day. carold

Carold, just wanted to admit that I am now hooked on your Blog. Okay tGM writes it and all but I think it is neat. You are the only one of us that has figured out how to have a professional writer and photographer follow us around as a groupie and maintain a travel blog for us. Everyone else just comments from time to time how much work it is. And you seem to have him well adjusted to take only flattering shots of you to include. Liz has to set the shutter and run real fast to get shots of herself. :D Okay, don't tell him I referred to him as your groupie  but do let him know what an interesting read his comments and photos are.

I enjoy tGM's blog too. I'm sure keeping up a blog is a lot of work since I can seldom ever get a picture posted. I took some pictures yesterday and they were in my camera because I looked at them. I tried to up load them to my computer and poof they were gone. Don't have a clue what I did.

We just finished lunch, baked Hebert's stuffed chicken(cornbread dressing), cabbage with tasso(smoked meat) and corn on the cob. Everyone that comes through here should stop at Hebert's and pick up some of their food. They have deboned chicken stuffed with all kinds of things. All kinds of frozen gumbos, etouffees, stuffed roasts, sausage, frozen seafood pies. I should go for a walk but I feel a nap coming on. lol

Tina, tGM thanks you for your kind comments and yes, he does work hard at "our" :D blog. However, I have to admit that the "delete" button on the camera has been my saving grace   carold
